Uncharted

Comfortable.

Seeing Jonny waiting outside the church was a relief. The past four hours had me feeling like I was burning in the pits of hell, which seemed ironic since they were spent in a church. My boss found it necessary to call out my absence and then force me to work twice as hard because of it. Every single little problem that arose was directed towards me to fix before the big day, and there were more than there should have been. If that wasn't bad enough, my slight hangover made everyone's voices sound ten times louder than they actually were. By the end of the say, I felt the world crumbling around me.

I pulled the door of Jonny's car open with a yank before hitting the seat with a sigh. Looking at the clock in Jonny's car, I couldn't believe the time. My entire afternoon had been spent catering to the rich and fabulous. I couldn't wait for us to get far, far away from this place.

"Rough day?" Jonny questioned as he pulled away from the church and began to make his way into the city.

"You have no idea." I started before closing my eyes. "That place is the definition of hell...and it's a church." I slouched slightly in my seat as the car sped up, doing my best to relax myself. At this point, the only thing I was looking for was a nap...and maybe a bacon cheeseburger. My eyes seemed to refuse to open as we drove along, and Jonny didn't seem to mind. When the car finally came to a halt. I was sort of disappointed when I opened my eyes to see we were at a stoplight. Letting out another sigh, I felt Jonny's hand fall upon my knee, which instantly brought a smile to my face.

"I have a surprise for you," he stated, a large smile crossing his features. With his words, Jonny began to slowly rub my leg, which was actually very comforting.

"Oh no, no surprises." I heard myself practically begging him to give up on the idea of surprises today. Normally, I would smile and act excited about the thought of a surprise, but they weren't my thing. I was a planner by nature, and almost always had to be in control. With surprises, I didn't stand a chance. "I just want a nice, quiet evening..."

"Alone?"

"Well, not necessarily alone," I answered, taking his hand in mine and kissing the back of it lightly. Truth be told, I wanted to be with him.

"As long as you aren't dying to be alone, trust me." With that, he squeezed my hand with a grin.

"Fine. I trust you."

Normally, I wouldn't give up nearly that easily, but what other choice did I have? I was currently at his mercy when it came to where we were going, and I did trust Jonny more than I did most people. Just as I was about to lace my fingers with Jonny's he pulled his hand from mine.

"Good." He seemed extremely proud of himself. Reaching into the backseat, he pulled a bag from it and placed it ever so softly into my lap. I rose my eyebrow at the bag curiously. It was...mine, but not the one that had been given to me earlier in the day, since that was still sitting at my feet.

"What's this?"
"Your bag."
"I got that part. where did you get it from?"
"Christine and Sara."
"What's in it?"

I didn't wait for his answer before I opened up the bag and recognized the things inside. Clothes, a toothbrush, soap and shampoo, certain pairs of shoes. What on earth would I need all of this stuff for? As I ruffled through the bag, I came across a letter "Have fun! - S"

I couldn't help but laugh at it as I shoved everything back into the bag and closed it again. Just as I zipped the bag back up, we were at Jonny's townhouse, pulling into the driveway. As the engine stopped, Jonny was out of the car and walked around to open the door. He pulled the bag out of my lap, as well as the one at my feet and smiled down at me. Getting out of the car, I perched myself on my toes to give him a quick kiss on the lips before closing the car door and heading inside.

"Why don't you go shower and take a nap? I'll wake you when dinner is ready."

Looking at him weird, I took the bag with my clothes and headed towards the bathroom. "Okay..." I didn't know Jonny could cook, and even more, I didn't know he would be cooking for me. As I took a few steps towards the bedroom, I heard him moving behind me. I suspected that he was getting something ready in the kitchen. I blamed it on my tiredness when I felt his arms slip around my waist and stop me dead in my tracks.

I couldn't help but giggle as kisses began to trail up my neck towards me ear. "What happened to my shower?" I asked, turning around in his arms and kissing him softly.

"You'll get one. I just haven't been able to kiss you much today."

The smile on my face wouldn't disappear. Kissing Jonny felt more like home than I had in quite some times. It felt stupid that I had done nothing but avoid him for the past few months. Getting back to a comfortable place was something that I felt like I needed at this point, and I was happy I was finally getting there.

Jonny finally let me go shower, which I took my time doing. It was nice feeling clean after a long day of working. Getting out of the shower, I pulled on the most comfortable clothes that Sara had packed for me, which was my Toews t-shirt and a pair of cotton shorts that I had owned since college. I went straight from the shower over to Jonny's bed, where I turned on the tv and fell asleep almost instantly to the sounds of "House."
