My Worst Fears

007

The messy handwriting wasn’t just because Brandon had that stereotypical men’s handwriting. His hands were shaking in the dim morning light. 3:30 the clock read as he left Renee the note that he had wished he could have had the nerve to tell her out loud.

When he came to the end of his confession he paused, blinking back tears as he wrote in his messy cursive ‘I love you too Renee’ and sighed his name.

He looked into the bedroom, Renee so peacefully sleeping, dreaming, and it broke his heart so much that he had put her through all of this for his own selfish reasons. He felt like he had cheated the system, and it was a horrible feeling he never wanted to feel again.

With once last glance at Renee Brandon taped his long note to the front door, and closed it behind him leaving for the arena. He didn’t want to be there when she read the note. It would just make it so much harder to tell her himself he was leaving.

A little more time in the weights room wouldn’t kill anyone and plus he just wanted to get out on the ice, work all of his emotions out before the guys got there and saw he was a mess.
