“Cigarettes are the single-most traded item on the planet, with approximately 1 trillion being sold from country to country each year. At a global take of more than $400 billion, it’s one of the world’s largest industries.”

“Nicotine reaches the brain within 10 seconds after smoke is inhaled. It has been found in every part of the body and in breast milk.” -- listverse

“Technically, nicotine is not significantly addictive, as nicotine administered alone does not produce significant reinforcing properties. However, after co-administration with an MAOI, such as those found in tobacco, nicotine produces significant behavioral sensitization, a measure of addiction potential.” -- Wikipedia

This is not a “smoking is bad – don’t do it!” story, nor am I promoting it in any way (as you will read on). This is a negative effect that I have witnessed, and have read about many times. There is a Nicotine Craze that happens to heavy-smokers once they have no way of getting another smoke, during the craze they begin to degenerate into a disturbing thing. People have lost/quit their jobs, abused others, killed just for cigarettes, etc. Essentially, it’s not the cigarettes fault, but the fault of the smoker for not being able to control themselves, all the nicotine is found doing is bringing out the challenge.
