I found out in the middle of the week that my dad was getting deployed. On an early Wednesday in September. And then I found out that my mom needed a cholecystectomy. A fancy doctor-y term for gall bladder surgery. And he was getting deployed six days after her surgery. Average recovery time for a cholecystectomy is about one to two weeks.
Grandma came down from Iowa to take care of my mom, but even that was only for a week. We had a one year old puppy, two cats, and a hamster. My dad left and my grandma was soon to follow after him. I had school, a college course half an hour away from our house, and four pets to take care of. I didn’t have a driver’s lisence.
