Into Your Arms
Coming Home
Spencer’s POV:
“We are now landing in San Diego, California. It is one in the afternoon and about 95 degrees outside, not a hint of a clouds or rain. Thank you again for traveling with Delta Airlines.”
I grunted as the voice over the intercom woke me up from my deep nap. I looked out my window and sure enough, I was in San Diego, California.
“Yes.” I whispered as I jumped up and grabbed my carry on.
I waited eagerly and impatiently as other people grabbed their bags and waited for the doors of the plane to open.
I had been in North Carolina almost all summer and I was glad to be back in San Diego so that I could spend the last few weeks of summer with some REAL friends.
I tapped my foot against the floor and looked around. Everyone looked like me, tired, cranky, and confused. The feelings almost everyone gets after flying into a state that is three hours behind the one you were just in.
When they opened the doors, I quickly darted out of the plane. I couldn’t help it, I had been on that plane for five hours and I have long legs!
I ran into the airport, my eyes searching the crowd of people awaiting their friends and family to get off the plane.
“Spencer Hastings bitch.”
I smiled when I read the sign and saw the one and only Kendall Durham holding the sign.
“Kendall!” I cried as I ran up to hug her.
“Hey Spence! Long time no see!” She replied.
“No kidding.” I sighed.
“You ready to see your boyfriend?” Kendall teased.
“I’m ready to see everyone. I missed you and Cameron and Zach and Nathan and shockingly Michael so much!” I answered.
She laughed as we walked towards the baggage claim. After she helped me pull my splatter paint suitcases off the belt, we grabbed a baggage cart and threw them into it.
“So do you want to go to the beach? The guys are there right now.” Kendall asked.
“Sure! You didn’t tell Cam you were coming to pick me up did you?”
“Nope. I didn’t tell any of the guys. I told them I had to babysit my sister.”
“Good, I want it to be a surprise.” I smiled.
I told Cameron I was coming back three days before school started, even though I was coming back two weeks before school started. I thought it would be nice to surprise him.
Kendall and I walked outside to the car she came in.
“Wait this isn’t your car. This is my aunt’s…” I said.
As if on cue, Aunt Lydia jumped out of the car and hugged me.
“Aunt Lydia! I thought you had to work today!” I squealed as I hugged her back.
“You seriously thought I was going to chose work over picking up my amazing niece? Of course I skipped work! I just told you I had to go to work so that I could come and surprise you.” She smiled.
“I missed you.” I sighed.
“I missed you too Spence.” She whispered.
“Kay, I put the bags in the trunk!” Kendall announced as she slammed the trunk closed.
“Okay, let’s go!” I replied as I pulled away from Aunt Lydia and got into the car.
I got into the car next to Aunt Lydia and Kendall got into the back. As we pulled out of the airport, I looked into the rearview mirror and saw Kendall mouth, ‘Ask her about the beach.’
“Oh Aunt Lydia?” I immediately said.
“Yes…” she answered.
“Can I go to the beach with Kendall today? The guys are there and I really want to see-
“Cameron? Yes, I know you do. Go ahead.” She smiled.
“Wait…why didn’t Cameron come pick you up?” Aunt Lydia asked.
Ever since I misunderstood that fan kissing Cameron and got my heart broken, Aunt Lydia hasn’t felt the same about him. She forgave him when he came to my house and apologized to Aunt Lydia face to face but every once and a while she’ll get mad and say that he would hurt me again and that I shouldn’t trust him. She’s starting to be nice to him just like she was before that night of mishap. I just hoped that she stayed that way.
“I told him I was coming back three days before school starts so that I could go surprise him.” I explained.
“Oh, alright.” She shrugged.
I relaxed a bit when she didn’t bring anything up about him not being trust worthy. We listened to the radio in silence for a bit and had some small talk every so often until we arrived at my house. Kendall helped me grab my bags from the trunk and helped me take them to my room.
“You ready to go?” Kendall grinned as we dropped the suitcases in my room.
“I still have to shower and change Kendall!” I answered.
“What? But I want to go see Zach!” she whined.
“Okay okay you will!” I laughed, “Just watch some television while I get ready.”
As I was pulling out my bikini, toiletries, and a pair of fresh clothes out of one of my suitcases I said, “Speaking of Zach…how have you guys been doing?”
“Nothing’s changed. We’re still just friends.” Kendall sighed as she turned on the television in my room.
“What? Are you freaking kidding me? He needs to ask you out!” I cried.
“Spence he’s never going to ask me out. He just sees me as a friend. I’m not lucky like you, the guy you fell for actually likes you back.” She scowled.
“That’s not true, he’ll ask you out.”I insisted.
I went into my bathroom and took a quick shower before changing into a green and white horizontally striped bikini, a pair of dark denim shorts, and a purple tank top. I brushed my teeth and washed my face then quickly brushed my hair. I slid my sunglasses on and grabbed my purse. Then I quickly grabbed my Hollister tote bag, and shoved beach towels and other beach necessities inside.
As I walked out of the bathroom I said, “Kay, let’s go!”
“Alright!” Kendall replied as she shut off the television.
“Ooh cute outfit!” Kendall squealed.
I smiled and looked at Kendall’s outfit, “Thanks. Yours is cute too! I see you’ve gone girly now.”
She wore an off-white spaghetti strap top that had a black flower printed on the side, khaki shorts and tan sandals. Her hair was braided to the side and her bangs fell perfectly down across her face, hitting the rim of her blue ray ban sunglasses.
“Thank you! I decided to take your fashion advice and go a bit more girly and glam.” She grinned.
I laughed as we walked out of my room and ran down the stairs.
“Bye Aunt Lydia!” I cried as we walked towards the door.
“Bye Spence! Bye Kendall! Have fun ladies!” she shouted.
“We will.” We yelled back at the same time as we entered the garage.
“Oh my gosh I missed my car so much!” I screamed as I ran up to my convertible and hugged it.
“Spence…it’s a freaking car not a human!” Kendall said.
“Have you had a conversation with it before? This thing is like a human!” I argued.
“Only you Spencer…only you.” Kendall muttered as she got into the passenger seat.
I laughed and got into the car. I put the key in and turned the car on.
“Hi Spencer! How are you?” my car, Carrie greeted.
“Good, how are you Carrie?” I smiled as I pulled out of the garage.
“I’m great. So where are you and Kendall heading today?” Carrie asked.
Kendall jumped when Carrie said her name.
“How does it know I’m in the car?” Kendall snapped, scared as she stared at me.
“Facial recognition software, duh.” Carrie snorted.
I threw my head back and laughed as I drove out of the neighborhood.
“We’re going to the beach, Carrie. We won’t be needing any directions today. You’re good.” I giggled.
“Okay what do you plan to-
Kendall quickly pressed the ‘off’ button in the car to shut off Carrie’s voice, stopping Carrie mid-sentence.
“Gosh, she scares the crap out of me!” Kendall cried as she turned on the radio.
“She scares everyone,” I laughed, “I think I’m going to have to get a new car or else you and the guys might refuse to ride with me.”
“You think?” Kendall snorted.
We drove in silence until Party In The USA by Miley Cyrus came on.
“SO I PUT MY HANDS UP THEY’RE PLAYING SONG, BUTTERFLIES FLY AWAY! NODDING MY HEAD LIKE YEAH, MOVING MY HIPS LIKE YEAH!” Kendall and I belted on the top of our lungs as we drove down the street.
When we approached a red light, Kendall and I began dancing in the car as well. Little did we know, the most popular kids in the school were in the car to the left us, which included Vic Porter. We turned our heads to the left when we heard laughing and saw them.
“What losers.” Morgan, the most popular girl in school smirked.
Kendall rolled her eyes, “Screw you.”
She flipped the bird at them as we drove away, leaving every single one of those assholes with their jaw dropped.
“Did you seriously just flip the bird at them?” I cried.
“Yeah, who gives a shit! They don’t control us.” Kendall argued.
“This is why I love you. You don’t give a shit!”
“Thank you.” Kendall giggled before shrieking, “I DON’T GIVE A SHIT!” to the whole world while throwing her arms in the air.
“What did you eat for breakfast?” I joked.
“Just a whole box of Lucky Charms.” Kendall shrugged as she began dancing to the radio again.
I shook my head, “Of course Kendall.”
“I still can’t believe Vic and Zach are related! Vic’s such an ass and Zach is so…not! I just want to punch that jerk.” Kendall cried.
“Yeah I know. Hopefully, some sense will be knocked into that boy soon. I may not like the way he treats us but he’s still Zach’s family meaning if Vic gets hurt, Zach will be upset.” I replied.
“I guess you’re right.” Kendall mumbled.
A David Guetta song featuring Flo-Rida and Nicki Minaj came on, making Kendall and I freak out. We were both HUGE Nicki Minaj fans. We couldn’t help it, her raps were so catchy!
“Two years ago I renewed my license! Anyway, why did I start my verse like that?” We rapped.
We paused at an inappropriate line do to the soccer mom mini-van right next to us.
“Wait, no, I didn’t endorse that! Pause that! Abort that!” We screamed in Nicki Minaj’s all too famous ‘British’ accent.
“HELLO BEACH!” I cried as we pulled into the parking lot next to the beach.
“BEACH! BEACH!” Kendall squealed like a five year old.
As I turned off the car, I smiled and touched the necklace I always wore.
“Going to see you soon, Cam.” I whispered to myself as I touched the silver heart and key attached to the silver necklace chain.
“Come on let’s go let’s go let’s go!” Kendall whined as she jumped outside of the car.
“Alright I’m coming.” I laughed as I jumped out as well.
We pulled our beach bag out of the trunk and began walking towards the beach where I saw four very familiar guys walking around.
Four guys I had been missing like crazy for months, especially one of them.
However, those feelings would all go away soon because I would finally be reunited with my friends Zach, Nathan, and Michael and most importantly, my boyfriend Cameron.
