What if...
Nineteen
It was high time that they all met up again in a relaxed manner, and so they were all sat in the pub and Sarah was trying to pretend she wasn't looking around for Edmund who was conspicuous in his absence.
She then gave in, and tried to talk in the coolest way she could muster.
"I thought Edmund was coming?" she pointed out, not mentioning that it was part of the reason that she had come.
"He's bringing the new girl from work," Ralph explained with a knowing smile. It was supposed to be friendly, but it wrenched at Sarah's insides.
"I know that tone of voice," Isabel said with a smile, "I"m guessing we're talking young, sexy and female?"
"Well he's bringing her here," Ralph pointed out, "He's only supposed to be helping her integrate. He's been 'helping' her for a couple of weeks now."
"Well its nice that he's finally moved on after everything," Annabel said with her usual innocent optimism.
"Yeah, good for him," Sarah managed to say. It was just then that Edmund entered.
Stood nervously by him was an unbearably pretty girl who was nervously clinging to him.
"Hi guy, sorry we're late...you know how it is, we started getting changed a little late..." he began as he started to sit down.
"You mean the sex took a little longer than you expected?" Isabel said as an offhand joke. The guilty look on Rachel and Edmund's faces, however, changed the tone.
"Rachel, everyone. Everyone, Rachel," Edmund introduced from behind a menu.
"So how's work Sarah?" Sean said, rescuing Sarah from a rapidly spiralling mood.
"Same as ever really," she responded, taking the chance for a conversation away from the couple that seemed surgically attached, "though the work load's been getting silly. I think they're preparing for a bunch of redundancies, and want the pressure to do their work for them."
"Ahh, well they won't be stupid enough to let you go," he assured her with a smile.
"Thanks Sean," Sarah said with a grateful smile.
Edmund watched as Sean distracted her with pleasant conversation. He tried not to let it annoy him how she was smiling at him.
He also tried desperately hard not to let his nasty side be disappointed that she didn't seem jealous of Rachel.
Though he knew that in no reality would she leap across the table, and fight Rachel for him.
She wouldn't do that even if she liked him.

I'm back! It's a rather short chapter, but hey. I've not had internet for about two days...oh and my computer crashed taking everything (including the script for this) down with it. So I'm having to re-write it, and of course it isn't the same. But I've put a chapter forward anyway.
Sorry it sucks.
