Set Me Free

Unfair world

"Cancer?" I asked Frank, to see if I had heard him correctly.

"Yes, in my lungs, I also have two tumors, one in my kidney and one in my brain." He said with a smile on his face. How can he smile? He's basically dying!

"Not to seem rude, but, why are you smiling? You're dying." I asked, voicing my thoughts

"Well, yes, I guess I am dying, but I've had cancer since I was seven and the doctors said I was gonna die before my thirteenth birthday and my mom couldn't stop crying when they told her the news, but, for some reason, now I'm fifteen and I'm still not six feet under. I thank whatever God that exists and I don't take a day in my life for granted." He said

"Wow, But don't you ever hate the fact that you're not healthy?"

"Well, sometimes I get upset that I have to spend most of my days in the hospital but never completely hate it, I guess it's just how life and death work, some people have long lives, others have early deaths. It's never fair, but that's just how it is."

"Yeah, I guess...I've never thought about it that way."

Why is the world so unfair to some people? Why does Frank have to have cancer?
