Episodes of Angel's Grave #2

Choices

As I washed the blood off of my face and arms, Will began to pack our bags. I could sence his regret and fear.
"Will, what's wrong?" I asked, walking over to confort my brother, "did he get away?" I was automatically thinking
the worst.
He shook his head "No, he didn't get away. He's dead or at least I think he is.." He ran his fingers
threw his hair and stopped at the nape of his neck as he looked at the ground.
"Where's his body?" I spoke quietly. I walked towards the door and picked up my bag that Will had gotten
for me. I placed my hand on the door when he looked over at me.
His face was pale and I was sure that he was dying inside, "He's in the courtyard, by the window. Why does
that matter?"
"It matters because we both just murdered our parents. We need to get rid of the bodies," I said softly, hoping that
he would freak out about how I was acting.
He was giving off signs of guilt and sorrow for what he had done to their step-father; though it could be
argued that it was self-defence. He walked over to his dresser and began to pack his things; not wanting to look at
his sister's eyes. I nodded, knowing that he was giving me permision to do what I was planning, and walked out the
door.
I had my back to him as I stood in the doorway and said firmly, "Finish packing your things and run. Don't wait
for me, just run. I have to do something."
I had a plan and I wasn't going to let my little brother take the fall. He was my responsibility now and she
needed to take care of him. Her cousin had been staying with them until her untimely death last month. It was a
horrible thing to think about but she was free now.
I knew what I had to do to in order to save my brother. I was planning on putting the blame on me; everyone
knew that I was crazy so it would go down in court that I had a mental break. I knew the system extreamly well;
my past in grand theft auto, drugs, underage drinking, and a few others had prepaired me of that. I would just have to
lie.
Will looked over at me, knowing that I was up to something. He slowly walked over to me and wrapped
his arms around me; holding me in place so that he could make me feel better.
"Let me do it, Jem." He said, a soft tone lingered in his voice.
"I have to do it," I said lowly to where he could barely hear me.
He finally looked into my eyes and saw his own fear looking back at him, "I know you want to protect me
but you don't have to."
I began to cry into his shoulder, releived that I didn't have to tell him aloud my plan. I was going to destroy
the house.
Will held me as I absently cried about everything that had happened
