Just Keep Breathing.

Cast the first stone.

It seemed like having a photography job fall into my lap was a sign that now, more than ever, I had to get away for a while. Away from this small town, away from my heart break, if possible.

Don't get me wrong. I knew how things would turn out. I knew before I even started anything with her, but that still didn't stop me and this was the first time I was regetting that I actually listened to my heart instead of my head.

If anything I now understood my brother better than ever.Made sense as to why he was so closed off. Why put yourself at risk like I had? Was it worth it?

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to debate on it because I had arrived at the hotel I would be staying at for a week or two.

I paid the taxi driver, grabbed my luggage and walked into the rather large hotel. I already felt a bit better simply from being in a city where the only people I even remotely knew were the people I would be working with.

"Name?" The woman at the desk asked as I adjusted my camera bag on my shoulder.

"Sykes. Tom Sykes."

She nodded not bothering to even look up from her computer as she typed away. After a few moments of waiting she slid a card onto the desk.

"Room 312."

"Thanks." I responded as I picked up the key. The woman nodded and I headed to the elevator. My phone buzzed in my pocket as I waited for the elevator to open.

The past always finds it's way back though.

I pulled it out of my front pocket and stared down at it. A text from my brother asking me if I made it. How could I be mad at that? I sighed as I texted back a answer and shoved it back in my pocket. It wasn't that I was mad at him. I honestly wasn't, but it didn't make my heart feel any better.

He had the girl. He won like always and I would always be second best. It's just how it always was. Nothing or no one compared to Oliver Sykes. Why wasn't I use to that? Maybe I was a bit too optimistic.

I finally reached my room, dropping my things onto my bed with a sigh. I had only an hour and an half before I had to meet up with people from the magazine that hired me to do some shoots for them, so I decided to just walk the streets to clear my head. I had been to London enough to know my way around so I wasn't completely clueless.

I grabbed my key and decided to leave my phone in my room not wanting to be bothered by anyone from home.

Once the cold air hit me I shoved my hands into my jacket pockets as I began walking down the street aimlessly. I didn't have a destination in mind and an hour to kill so it was whatever.

Not even 5 minutes into my journey I passed a group of laughing teenagers and a couple holding hands which made me cringe. How come when you're unhappy everyone in the world seems happy? It's like they all know and want to make you even more miserable.

I breathed in as I came upon a coffee shop and decided to go in since the cold was now eating at me. I pulled open the door and saw my life flash before my eyes. Well, not really but maybe the future of my looks, thanks to the small girl carrying more cups of coffee than she had hands.

"Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry." She said quickly as she made sure nothing spilled.

I stepped back and held the door open for her, a small grin hitting my lips at how spastic she was.

"It's ok. No damage done."

She blew air from her mouth trying to get the hair out of her eyes and I chuckled, "are yeh ok?"

"Yes. No. I don't know. I'm going to be late. Sorry again." She said her American accent more promenent now.

What was it about American girls that I couldn't get away from?! I mean bloody hell I was in London and I find the one American girl to run into!

I nodded and brought my hand to her hair brushing it from her eye, "There. Don't fink yeh can walk blindly down the road."

A crimson color covered her cheeks, "Oh. Yeah. True. Um, thanks. I really need to go."

I nodded with a grin and she thanked me for the millionth time and headed down the sidewalk in a hurried fashion.

I couldn't help but chuckle to myself as I walked into the coffee shop. Poor thing.

Once I got up to the register the young girl taking orders looked at me and instantly her eyes got wide and I knew she knew who I was. Her pink hair and tattoos should have given it away.

Yeah, maybe that was a bit judgmental, but it didn't surprise me.

"Can I, um, take your order?" She finally got out.

"I don't know, um, what's good?" I asked looking from the menu behind her to her.

"Uh, well, I like the Caramel latte."

"Good. I'll have one." I said giving her a grin and she nodded as she blushed furiously. I couldn't help but wonder if that blush was because she liked me or because she knew who my brother was.

I paid her quickly and thanked her for my drink before heading back out into the cold. The time passed faster than I imagined and I headed to the meeting I was having at some corporate building a street over.

I threw my now empty coffee cup into the trash can before walking into the building and being directed to wait in the lobby for someone to get me.

I sat down in a chair with a sigh and began tapping my fingers on my knee. The caffine from the coffee taking over me.

"Um, Mr. Sykes?" I heard and looked up to see the person calling my name.

A grin hit my lips as the girl's eyes landed on me.

The girl from the coffee shop was now standing in front of me a clip board in hand and looking as flustered as she did the first encounter we had.

"The little yank extrodinare aye?" I asked standing up from my seat.

"An assistant is what I am. Follow me." She said brushing her dark hair behind her ear.

"Well that explains the loads of coffee I'm happy to find out wasn't all just for yeh." I said following her down a long hallway. My joke didn't even admit a laugh from her and I sighed as we continued our journey.

The girl however gave me a small grin as she opened a door we finally arrived at.

"Do yeh laugh?" I asked and she in fact laughed at that, "Yes. Do you?"

I smiled, "Occasionally it happens."

"Good to know. Now go in." She said with a sincere smile and I couldn't help but return the gesture as I walked in. She closed the door behind me and the woman sitting at the desk looked up at me.

"Oh hello nice to finally see you again." She said shaking my hand before I took a seat.

"Yeh to." I said shifting around in the chair.

"Do you need a drink or anything?"

I shook my head no, "No actually I'm fine. I had coffee on tha way here."

She nodded politely and began looking through papers on her desk.

"Really all I need from you today is to sign a few things. I'm sure you're aware of the procedures."

I nodded as she handed me a few sheets of paper to look over and sign. I leaned back against the chair as I began to read the shit I really didn't understand anyways.

I quickly signed whatever was in front of me which I knew Oliver would have killed me over, but he wasn't here to yell at me this time.

I handed her back the papers and she gave me a sign, "Great. We will see you tomorrow at 8."

"Here?"

"Yeah just wait in the lobby and Katelyn will get you."

"Katelyn?" I asked curiously and she nodded, "Yes the girl who brought you here."

"Oh. Ok." I nodded as I got up from the chair.

"She'll show you the way out." She said and I turned to see Katelyn waiting in the doorway.

I nodded and she said goodbye as I followed the girl out.

"Katelyn is it?"

"Yeah I prefer Kate or Katie but, I'm surprised she even remembers my name so I'm not complaining." She said with a grin.

I chuckled as we eached the lobby, "well Katie, nice ta run inta yeh 'gain. Yeh gonna be here tomorra?"

"Yep. Of course."

"Then I will see yeh tomorra."

She nodded with a grin, "seems that way."

I gave her a nod and said goodbye as I walked back into the cold.

The girl was cute but I wasn't going to let that take over me by any means. Not again.

I decided to just grab a bite to eat and head back to the hotel. Not like I had much to do anyways.

I lazily laid in bed an watched crappy movies that were on the television until I finally fell asleep and ended up sleeping until 6 the next morning when my alarm sounded.

I forced myself up and hopped in the shower. Once I was ready for the day I threw my coat on and grabbed up my camera bag.

I took the familiar path I took yesterday and decided to stop by the coffee shop since it was early and I needed to be more alert.

Of course the same girl was in there from yesterday and as soon as I reached the counter she smiled, "same thing as yesterday?"

"Yep. Two actually."

"Two? You sure you need that much caffine?"

I laughed, "it's for a friend."

She nodded as I paid her and grabbed up the two cups. Friend being Katelyn. Ok, so what? I was being nice. Sue me.

I thanked the girl who's name was Taylor via her name tag.

I headed to the building I was at yesterday and went into the lobby telling the receptionist who I was before I took my seat. It didn't take long for the petite, short girl to appear like she did yesterday.

This time though she gave me a smile and waved me over with her hand. I quickly stood up and walked over to her.

"Hi." She said and I smiled, "Ello. So I figured since yeh always gettin' everyone else coffee, I'd get yeh some."

A blush hit her cheeks and she grabbed the cup gently from my hand, "Thank you." She replied softly and a grin hit my lips, "welcome."

"Um, so, um, follow me." She fumbled and I nodded as I did as I was told. She was so modest I found it adorable and I couldn't help it.

This time we didn't go to the office like last time we went to a huge room where people were already setting up for the shoot.

"Thanks again." She said lifting up her coffee.

"No problem. Are yeh stayin'?" I asked and she shook her head, "duty calls. I'm sure I'll see you later though."

"Katelyn!" I heard someone shout and she groaned and rolled her eyes, "Later."

I nodded and watched her walk away quickly before turning back around and focusing on the task at hand.

Maybe this would be exactly what I needed after all.

Ahhh new story. Excited! :)

Ok, so this is not a sequel to I'll Let You Live. More like a spin off deal although Lexi and Oli will make an apperance.

A huge thank you to As Above_So Below for another layout. It's like the cutest picture of Tom ever. :3
