Written in the Stars

I had been running away from something, I’m not sure what it is exactly that I’m running from but I have to run. I don’t even know where I am, there are trees all around me and the moon high above. As I kept running I started to see there were fewer trees and there was a pathway which lead me to an open place where I saw a person standing there. I turned around walking away feeling the cold on my legs from my white dress.

“Don’t go.” said the person

“Who are you?” I questioned

“You already know that.” he said holding out a blue rose for me. As I took the rose he held my hands, I looked up to see him and-

I woke up. Well that was a weird dream. I wonder if that means anything? I wonder who that mysterious guy is? I walked out of my hotel room and went all the way to the top. I have always loved gazing at the stars especially late at night and from here I get a great view. I’m going to miss this place when I go back home. I’m on a trip with other seniors all the way in France. I was gazing at the stars when I heard footsteps behind me and I jumped.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.” Zach said. Zach is also on this trip, he is in a few of my classes but we don’t really talk besides to say hello or if teachers put us together.

“It’s fine. I should go.” I said walking to the door

“You’re going to leave me up here all alone? What if a monster comes?” he asked and I laughed at him

“If a monster comes, tell them I say hello.” I said

“Wait Serena, don’t go. Let’s say up here and talk for a bit.” he said

“Fine.” I said

“Nice shoes.” he said. I looked down at my purple fuzzy slippers.

“Don’t hate.” I said

We actually talked for so long that the sun was starting to rise. I have never watched the sunrise with anyone and experiencing this with Zach made it more special for some reason.

Zach and I would meet out at midnight up at the roof every night until we had to leave. When we got back home we started having our late night meet ups. Zach took me to this pretty place, it looked wonderful all around with an open view at the sky. I really do enjoy his company. My friends always bug me about him but I always tell them to shut up and quickly change the subject. Zach and I are actually outside my house right now. We were looking into each other’s eyes and he was slowly getting closer to me.

“You have very pretty eyes.” I whispered looking into his beautiful ocean blue eyes

“You think so?” he asked

“Yeah, especially right now, I mean the way the sun perfectly lights your eyes.” I said

"I think your eyes are pretty." he said

"Liar!" I yelled

"I don't lie." he said

"You just lied the moment you said that." I said laughing. I heard whispering and I turned around and saw my friends.

"Hi girls!" I shouted

"I should go." Zach said

"Ok bye." I said hugging him, he hugged me back and kissed my cheek and then walked away.

"You're blushing." my friend Nina said

"Whatever." I said walking in my house and they followed

"He was going to kiss you." Rachael said as we got in my room

"No he wasn't.” I said

"Yes he was and you know it, we saw the whole thing, what happened!" Nina asked

"Nothing." I said

"Exactly, nothing, why?" Nina asked

"I started talking." I said

"You know you like him, why don't you let yourself be happy?" Nina asked

"I can't." I whispered.

Tonight I had that weird dream again. I was in the same place standing in front of the mysterious guy.

"Don't go." he said

"Who are you?" I asked

"You already know that." he said handing me the blue rose and he grabbed my hands

"Your voice." I said, it sounded so familiar.

"Stop running from me, stop running from your happiness." he said pulling me closer to him, I looked up to see him and I gasped when I saw his face-

I woke up from the sound of my phone ringing. I thought about my dream.

"Stop running from me, stop running from your happiness." I whispered to myself. It that some kind of message? I tried to remember the guys face, but I couldn't. Once again I was sent back to reality by my phone; right someone’s is calling me.

"Speak now because you interrupted my mysterious dream and now I can't remember who the mysterious guy is." I said into the phone

"Oh sorry I woke you up." Zach said

"Oh Zach, hey." I said now wide awake and smiling

"Can you meet me at our spot?" he asked

"Yeah of course, see you there." I said and hung up.

"Hi Zach." I said as I saw him looking up to the sky with his back to me

"I have something to ask you." he said still not facing me.

"Yeah sure." I said

"Well, it’s something I've been wanting to ask you for a while now." he said turning around to face me

"What do you want to ask me?" I asked

"Will you go to prom with me?" Zach asked looking straight in my eyes and then handed me a rose, I looked at the flower and gasped. It was blue, just like in my dream.

"Oh my god... It’s you... You're him... You were that guy in the fog... with the blue rose." I said

"What are you talking about?" he asked confused

"You are the mysterious guy from my dream..." I said, "That’s why I thought the voice sounded so familiar." I whispered

"So I'm the mysterious guy from the dream I woke you up from?" he asked and I nodded.

"Stop running from me, stop running from your happiness." I whispered to myself and he lifted my face so I could look at him.

"What did you say?" he asked

"Um nothing.” I said

“So… back to my question; will you go to prom with me?” he asked

“Yes.” I said hugging him

“Nice shoes.” he said looking at my blue fuzzy slippers.

Today is prom night; the theme was a masquerade ball. I had a beautiful midnight blue dress and Zach was wearing a matching tux, which looked really well on him. He looked so adorable with his chocolate brown hair, his tux really brought out his sparkling blue eyes. We were in this big place with decorations everywhere, the music making everything more alive than ever, people dancing and laughing having the time of their lives. When we got here we went right away to take our pictures. At first we weren’t paying attention to the camera guy, we were smiling at each other and smiling when a flash went off, they camera guy told us that we were in a perfect picture moment then he took a few more, in one of them we were being silly. Zach and I are now sitting at a table talking nonstop.

“W-want to dance?” he asked

“I’m not the best dancer…” I said trailing off

“Really, me too!” he exclaimed

“Then I guess it won’t matter if the both of us make fools out of our selves dancing.” I said laughing

“I guess you’re right, let’s go.” he said pulling me to the dance floor.

Zach and I had so much fun dancing even though we both sucked. I know for sure none of us will enter a dance competition. A slow song started playing and Zach grabbed my waist pulling me closer to him, without thinking I put my arms around his neck. We were both swaying to the music, everything seems so romantic at the moment. I have imagined many times how this night would turn out to be and this is better than I expected, the best part is that Zach Porter is my date. I had my face buried in his chest and I looked up at him and we both smiled.

“You look beautiful tonight, I’m so lucky I’m here with you.” he said so sweetly

“Aww Zach thank you but I think I’m the lucky one.” I said.

He removed my mask and looked intensely into my eyes and kissed me. It was a soft sweet kiss, but if felt so magical. After he kissed me we continued to slow dance and I had a huge smile in my face.

"Zach." I said

"Yeah." he said looking down on me

"Thank you." I said

"For what?" he asked

"For everything." I said and kissed him

"You two are soo cute." Nina said while Zach and I danced looking in each other’s eyes

"It’s about time." Rachael said

"Yeah Zach wouldn't stop talking about you." said Zach's friend Cameron

"Come with me." Zach said holding out his hand for me and I took it. He took me outside and we were standing right in front of a big beautiful water fountain.

"I don't know how I should say this." Zach said nervously

"You could start by calming down" I said smiling

"Alright here it goes." he said taking a deep breath. I would have never imagined he was going to do what he did next, he started singing to me. I started tearing up listening to him serenade me.

Zach sang, he had the voice of an angel. He took out a small box and handed it to me with a cute little smile.

"Open it." he said cutely. I did as he said and I saw a charm necklace, it had the Eifel tower, a star, a crown, an S and a Z.

"Zach this is beautiful, more than words can describe." I said

"Serena, will you be my girlfriend?" Zach asked

"I would love to." I said hugging him. He put my necklace on, and then gave me a passionate kiss, I kissed him back with the same passion. When he kissed me I saw stars twinkle.

“Baby, it’s written in the stars, we’re meant to be.” Zach said sweetly

Tonight was the best night of my life, it was more than I could have wished for.
