I Don't Believe in Fairytales

Two Vibrant Hearts

Beep. Beep. Beep.

That annoying beeping sound kept me from falling back into my peaceful slumber. Reluctantly, I opened my eyes before squinting against the harsh sunlight filtering in through the room. Once my eyes adjusted to the change of light I noticed I was not at the mansion, but rather in a hospital.

I attempted to sit up in the bed which only resulted in failure when pain shot throughout my entire body. A groan escaped past my chapped lips while I laid back down on the small bed to prevent anymore pain. I glanced down at my arm to see tubes inserted through my skin that were connected to the machine creating that consistent beeping noise.

The continuing sound was driving me insane which caused me to rip out the tube in my arm. That was a bad idea, I thought as a alarm went off in my room. The door burst open and a frazzled woman nurse rushed in with a male nurse following right behind her.

Relief washed over the woman's facial expression when she saw me holding the ripped out tube in my hand. Her emotions soon changed to anger as did the male nurse beside her.

"I would advise you, sweetheart, not to rip out the IV," the woman nurse said in a not so kindly tone, "It is meant to help you."

I opened my mouth to reply to her with a witty remark, but I was interrupted by another person stepping into my room. The new arrival captured my attention and made my heart swell at the sight of them. His chocolate brown eyes burned through my green orbs as he stood standing by the door and staring at me.

The room grew quiet as one of the nurses fixed the IV and stuck it back into my arm. The two nurses exited out of the room leaving us alone. We contined to gaze at each other as neither of us made a move or even a sound. My heart began beating faster in chest which caused my heart monitor to grow louder in volume, but neither one of us paid any attention to it.

"Brian," I whisper softly, breaking the quiet atmosphere.

He doesn't break eye contact as he steps further into the room and closer towards me. I look up at him when he is standing next to the left side of my bed.

"Trin," he says in a low tone as his calloused hand reaches up and rests on my cold cheek.

A jolt of pain vibrates through my head when his skin makes contact with my milky flesh. A groan of discomfort falls from my cracked lips while the pain continues to sprout. My eyes shut close as visual images begin to cloud my mind. Brian's voice sounds farther and farther away when the pain starts to consume me.

Fuzzy memories project themselves like a movie behind my eyelids. Pictures of Brian and I flipped through my mind as well as images of Matt and I. New and old memories filled my head along with painful and peaceful recollections of my past.

My eyes snapped open as the pain began to subside. Brian's worried face consumed my vision as he stood beside me and held my hands in his.

"Are you okay? Does anything hurt?" He asked in a tone of concern.

"I remember everything, Brian," I tell him with a small smile adorning my lips.

A grin breaks out on his face as he engulfs me into his tattooed arms. He nuzzles his face into my neck while gripping my body tighter to his. I wrap my arms around his neck and lean my head on his chest hearing the thump of his heart beat.

"I love you so much, Trinity," he mumbles into my neck, "I thought I lost you forever."

"I love you too," I told him before breaking away from his embrace causing him to look down at me. "You never lost me Brian. My heart always belonged to you."

His chocolate orbs filled with love as he stared down at me causing my heart to swell. He leaned down towards me before capturing my lips in a soft kiss. Passion burned through our lips consuming my body with the euphoric sensation.

A cough interrupted our lip locking causing us to break away from each other. A light blush spread across my cheeks as a older gentlemen in a scrubs stepped further into the room. He looked in his early forties with salt and pepper hair. He stood at the foot of my bed as he picked up the clipboard and flipped through the papers.

"Hello, Ms. Pierce," he said with a wide smile gracing his lips, "How are you feeling?"

"My head hurts a little," I told him, lightly grazing my fingers across the back of my head that was covered in gauze.

"That is normal especially with the hard fall you had. The good news is that your injury was not sever, so you did not need to have stitches. I will prescribe some low dosage pain killers and you are free to leave after the nurse checks your vitals."

A smile adorned my lips, but that quickly faded when I looked down to my stomach and seeing the small bump.

"How's my baby?" I softly asked, feeling Brian tense as he held my hand.

"You're baby is just fine," he assured, "You are well on track for six weeks into the pregnancy."

I thanked him before he left the room; leaving us once again alone. My eyes looked up at Brian to see a huge grin on his face causing a smile of my own to break out.

"I can't believe I am going to be a father," he said in a tone filled with happiness.

"It's our little family, Brian."

His chocolate irises glistened with love as he sat down on my bed near my legs. He placed a hand on my stomach while rubbing circles around the small baby bump.

"God, I love you so much," he told me causing my heart to swell.

"You have no idea how much you mean to me, Brian, and now that we are having a baby together I just know he is going to be our whole world."

"He?" Brian questioned with his eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.

"I just have a feeling that we are having a boy," I said, shrugging my shoulders.

"A little Brian Junior."

A giggle escaped past my parted lips at the thought of a little Brian jr. running around. My heart filled with happiness and joy at that image. Little did I know while my heart was beating with love another was breaking in half.
