Twisted Symphony

Deep.

Johnnie had become an ass. Through Adam had convinced me to turn down my attitude by about a million, I can’t help but wonder if this was Johnnies way of stepping all over me and I don’t know if I can really take that.

In a matter of three days all traces of the Johnnie from that loft party had all but disappeared, even his cologne had changed.

He did remind me of something though, once in the middle of Fitz’s class two days ago he reminded me of Reid, and how technically I had stood him up completely. Would it be crazy if I told you that the though itself had never even crossed my mind? Call me self centered and vain, but when I was raking my mind, trying to figure out why Reid hadn’t once crossed my path in the last three days, that was not a factor.

“He has no gonads, that’s why he won’t talk to you. You knock him down once and he’s out of the game.” Johnnie smiles, sitting beside Kayla on her bed. It’s one of the few occasions where they are not swapping spit.

“Stop it! He’s just shy!” Kayla defends. “He’s a gentlemen! He’s sensitive!” Kayla begins to spew all sorts of things and I’m trying to decipher exactly why she’s saying it.

“Unlike you.” I look up from my music theory homework casually.

“Was that suppose to hurt?” Johnnie snickers. “If he wants to spend all his time chasing a girl like you he can go right ahead. Or is it you that’s chasing him?” He shrugs carelessly.

“Johnnie don’t be such a jerk! You should be more like Reid! He’s sweet and respectable and really like Gabrielle. I bet you when they make up he’ll even take her someplace.” Kayla protests, attempting to elude to something deeper than the depth of Johnnies mind can actually go.

“Kayla I am not your boyfriend! That’s why I don’t take you places, I’m not obligated to you!” He snaps.

“You’re such an asshole!” I hiss.

“You’re the one that’s got Kayla living in fucking Lala land. I’m sorry, but I don’t operate that way and I’m not going to lead her on like some jackass! You’re the one filling her head with this bullshit!” He snaps at me, his face growing red.

“Too late. You’re already a jackass!” I scream putting a protective arm around Kayla.

“Kayla you want a prince charming, and that’s not me. You don’t get that?! If you want that call Reid! I’m sure he’s available.”Tears stream down Kayla’s face as he leaves the room fuming.

He leaves the dorm and Kayla cry into me. I don’t know what to make of this whole mess, I just feel like it can only get worse.

“Kayla sweetie it’s okay you don’t need him,” I pat her shoulder.

“I know,” she sniffs. I’m going home for the rest of the weekend I’ll be back Monday morning. I need to see my family. Get away from this place for a day or two. Ya know?”

“Sure I get it. Right now?” I ask.

“Mhm. I’ve got everything at home I can just leave and come back.” She gets up from her bed and walks to get her cell phone off her desk. “I’ll see you Monday, Gabrielle.”

Everything is not okay.
