The Empress of the Seas

Chapter 7

I moaned in pain the next morning when someone opened the door revealing the burning sun light. Even the smallest twinkle of light made my already enormous hangover three times worse.

“Jack says to get out of his bed Emma,” I heard Gibbs laugh.

“Quit yelling…” I groaned, pulling the pillow over my head.

“He said if ye don’t get up, he’ll pull ye out himself.”

“I don’t care if he slept with a pink parrot! I’m not moving!” I shouted and heard him walk out, closing the door behind him. A few seconds later it opened again then slammed shut.

“Emma, get up.” Jacks’ voice came to my ears as he pulled the pillow away.

I took the blanket and hid under it. “No Jack!” I whined. “You can tell me about your play date with the pink parrot later!” I smirked picturing his face red with anger.

“Suit yourself,” he said grabbing my ankles and pulled me off the bed. My head hit the edge of it hard and I screamed as a shiver of pain ran throughout my body. Jack immediately dropped my ankles and ran out the door.

“GET BACK HERE YOU COWARD BASTDARD!” I yelled and ran to the door. The hangover was pushed out of my head as I glared around the deck. Everyone had froze and stood there wondering what Jack had done to get me in this rage.

Just then the sound of a bottle crashing on the floor was heard below deck and I sprinted to the galley. Jack stood on the other side of the table near a set of effects that were on a near by barrel.

“Jack…” I spoke trying to control my anger.

“Now love, think before ye act…” Ignoring him I reached for my sword only to find it not there. “Where’s your sword?” he smirked.

“Where is it?!” he continued to smirk as he grabbed the sword from behind him and pointed it at my throat. Spinning around, I took it from him but stopped suddenly when I noticed a green sparkle near the end of the blade. When I looked at it more carefully I saw my name was engraved into it with emeralds.

I looked up at him and saw him holding a pistol with the same design. “Ye said ye needed them.”

A smile crept on my face and my eyes went wide with happiness. Putting the sword aside, I started to walk around the table towards him. He watched me, getting nervous.

I put my hand out, “Gun…” I said, eyes twinkling with excitement. He was hesitant at first but handed it to me and could sense the power I felt. My eyes roamed its many details before going to the man in front of me. “Jack,”

“Emma…” he took a step back when I took one forward.

“Come here Jack,” I smiled brightly and he started walking around the table.

“Now Emma…” he said as I followed him before he took off up the stairs. I frowned as I stepped above deck and walked around with the crew watching me carefully. The smile came back to my face when I saw a nervous looking Gibbs.

“Hi Gibbs, where’s Jack?” I asked sweetly. He mumbled something trying to stay cool but couldn’t help but advert his eyes to the large crate beside him.

“Well thank you for your help,” I told him as I started to walk away. “I guess I’ll just go and get some rum!” I emphasized the last word and Jack ran out from behind the crate. Spinning around I aimed the pistol at him and he froze.

“There you are,” I cocked the pistol. Seeing everyone’s terrified faces I couldn’t help but laugh. “Wow, you guys can’t even take a joke.” I uncocked he pistol and put it down.

Jack glared at me, “Not funny Emma.” I simply continued to smile.

“Well Mr. Sparrow, I am in your dept,” I bowed. “Is there anything I can do for you?”

He smirked, “How about a drink?” Walking over to his cabin, he held he door open and followed in after me.

After a few hours and about twenty drinks later, me and Jack sat on the floor of his cabin talking about random things.

“And that is how it happened,” he finished his story proudly.

“Wow!” I yelled drunkenly and leaned my head on his shoulder. “How many drinks did you give those whores?!”

“Too many love but ye know you’re better then all of them combined,” he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and finished off the rum bottle that was in his other hand.

I sat there silently for a few seconds as my mind processed what he said then laughed. “That’s funny. That’s really funny. It almost sounded like ye said I slept with ye!”

“But ye did love!” he said throwing the empty bottle across the room.

“What?!” I sat up right completely sober, eyes wide with shock.

“Don’t ye remember? Few, maybe five, six years ago in Port Rockford! What was that pubs’ name…?” he scrunched his eyebrows. “Star lit Inn! That’s it! I saw ye sitting alone so I went over to ye. Surprised ye didn’t kill me but ye were already drunk.”

“Anyway we started talking and…” he hit the floor hard as the alcohol finally got to him. I sat there starring blankly at the darkness for I don’t know how long.

That night… No it, it couldn’t have been him… No- Uh, I need some air, I grabbed my pistol and walked above deck. I really needed some air.

“He… but- No! It can’t be… But his eyes and- No!” I argued with myself and jumped hen I heard some stumble up the stairs from the galley.

“Sorry,” I heard Gibbs voice. “I heard something fall in Jacks’ room then talking up here and-”

“It’s ok Gibbs,” I rubbed my head out of frustration. “Jack just passed out.” I looked at the ground and walked over to the rail.

“Something wrong Emma?” Gibbs asked as I starred into the dark water. I shook my head. “Cause ye know ye could tell me if something was wrong.” We stood there in silence for a while. “So why were ye in dept to the captain?”

A small smile came onto my face as I picked up my gun for him to see. Turning it he saw the sparkling emeralds and gapped at its beauty. “He got me a sword to match too.”

“What did ye do in the cabin?” he asked when I handed him the gun.

“Drink. Talk. Drink.” I laughed. He looked puzzled.

“And he didn’t try anything on ye?” I raised my eyebrows.

“No… But Jack knows better then that with me anyway.” I took the pistol back from him as Jack stumbled out of his cabin.

“What do I know better?” he asked.

“Nothing, why are ye up?”

“I… don’t know. How long was I out?”

“Five, ten minutes. Do ye remember anything?”

“Uh… I don’t know. I think I had a dream of us talking but… I don’t know…” he responded scratching his head.

I turned to Gibbs, “Never gets drunk huh?”

“Hey, no one can get me drunk!” Jack yelled.

“Well Jack,” I said walking up to him. “I believe I can.”

“Well I’m not too sure I’m ok with the one person who might have thoughts about taking over me ship to be able to get me drunk.”

I shrugged, “You’ll just have to deal with it,” I smirked before walking to the galley.
