If Love Is Sweet, What Is This, Draco Malfoy?

The truth prevails

I woke up to hear a commotion, and got up to see Blaise yelling at Draco, with quite a few Slytherins around Blaise. I looked around sleepily, and everyone went quiet. Eventually, my eyes landed on Draco and I looked at him for a while before all the memories came flooding back into memory.
“Oh… sorry… did I fall asleep on you?” I asked timidly as I got off him
“That’s ok” he replied, grinning. I smiled
“What’s all this yelling about?” I asked, yawning as I stretched, before my yawn was cut off short when I saw the look in Blaise’s eye. Like he was about to pounce on Draco any minute and burn him alive.
“Nothing” Draco muttered
“Um Blaise? Are you ok?” I asked gently as I looked at his curled up fists. He laughed bitterly
“You’re asking if I’m ok? I ask you out and you turn me down because of Malfoy. And then you tell me I’m exactly like him before flouncing off with him, to have me find you two cuddled up next to the fire playing nap partners” Blaise spat. I flinched at his harsh words
“No! Well yes, I turned you down because of… well it wasn’t exactly Draco… I told you, it’s complicated. And we weren’t playing nap partners! The chairs had been moved so I just sat on his lap and then fell asleep! We’re just friends Blaise” I told him, and he glared at me
“Just friends huh? What’s so damned complicated about it?! What’s wrong with you? Every time I say something – it’s complicated!! It’s not fucking complicated, it’s twisted, that’s what it is! Make up your mind – either you want him or not!!” Blaise screamed, and I was shocked that he was yelling at me.
“Leave her alone!” Draco growled, jumping to my defence
“No don’t you start with me Romeo!” Blaise shouted
“We were married” I said quietly. Blaise was in the middle of shouting at Draco before stopping and then looking at me. “We were married” I repeated. Blaise turned white. “And I cheated on him with my ex. Because I didn’t love Draco and I was forced to marry him. And he was there for me, even though I’d done all of that to him. Because he loves me. Truly and honestly. He always has. And he defended and protected me from my parents and his. Challenging all of them. He carried on with our marriage even though he knew I was cheating on him damn it! THAT’S WHY IT’S SO COMPLICATED!” I screamed, tears falling down my eyes. Blaise gaped at me for a while, opening and closing his mouth for a while before just turning around and leaving. As soon as he did, I rushed out of the other exit and ran towards the girl’s dorms, tears leaking out of my eyes. It was never going to leave me. The pain and the guilt. It was always going to stay there. I was about to run up the stairs when I felt someone pull me quickly so that I turned around to see Draco, blurred by my tears. His face looked heartbroken as he wiped away my tears and hugged me into him
“Don’t cry” he whispered, gently rocking me from side to side, and I cried harder. He picked me up gently and I curled up into a ball, before slipping into the boy’s dorms and into his room. Draco placed me on the bed gently and then hugged me again as I broke down “Ssh, it’s ok. Maia it’s ok. I’m here” Draco whispered as he hugged me tighter. I tried chocking back my tears as I spoke
“Yeah but that’s it isn’t it? You’re always here. Always. Even when I’ve done… so… much… you’re always there for me. And I can’t take back what I did, because I was such a fucking selfish bitch.” I gasped, crying louder. Draco hugged me again and stroked my hair.

“It’s fine Maia. Stop crying, please. Don’t.” he whispered, smoothing my hair down. I hugged him tightly, and he scooped me up then placed me on his lap. I slid my head down to his neck and cried, wetting his neck a little as my tears dropped onto him. Draco hugged me tightly and kept rocking me until I stopped crying, before gently pulling me down onto the bed.
“Draco I need to get back to my room!” I gasped, sobbing quietly
“Don’t be silly. It’s 1am. Even if you do go, chances are you’ll get caught” Draco whispered, and I looked at the clock on his bedside table. It made sense – it was about 7pm when we went into the common room. It must have been late at night when Blaise found us, and I’ve been crying for a while anyway. I heard an owl pecking at the window, and Draco opened the window with his wand without leaving my side. The owl swooped in and then flew back out, before Draco shut the window.
Maia
I think it would be best if we didn’t talk from now on. Sorry.
Blaise
Draco read the note over my shoulder and fresh tears leaked out of my eyes. He growled insults at Blaise angrily before crushing the note into powder in his hand, then tossing the remains into the bin. He pulled off his top and trousers; then splashed a little water on his face using his wand, before pulling my close again. I snuggled into him, and pulled the covers up to our necks before he put his hand around my waist as I hugged him, resting my head on his chest. I overlapped Draco’s foot with mine and snuggled in as far as I could go, sniffling a little before he kissed the top of my head
“Go to sleep princess” he whispered, and watched over me as I fell asleep tiredly.
