I'm Coming Home to You

Jack spun around showing himself off. He was still as flamboyant and charming as ever. He picked me up in an embrace and I hugged him tightly back.

"Oh its so good to see you!" I siad with a little bit of a squeal in my voice.

"So good to see you as well Rose, well come on in, welcome to the Torchwood Field Base." He told me while opening the door.

I hesitated, last time I had been in a Torchwood base I had nearly gotten sucked into an endless black hell called the Void. How could I know to trust these people? But then again it was Jack he wouldn't hurt me, would he?

I ended up following him, the inside was much prettier than the outside and I almost forgot I was standing in a building that could possibly collapse on itself any second. As I walked in music was playing, the song sounded familiar but I couldn't place it, the lyrics went something like this,

"Why does that sound so familiar?" I asked Jack.

"The new guy Ricky is obsessed with a song called Day & Night, it was made by some British pop princess or something. I don't know, moving on." Jack said to me before taking my hand again and dragging me off further into the Torchwood base.

I passed through, seeing the occasional person running a test or cleaning equipment. We kept going until we came to a small room that served as a make shift office, I guessed it was for him.

The room was messy, papers everywhere, half drank cups of coffee, it looked like no one had even thought to organize things ever.

"Welcome to the office, sorry for the mess, we've been working overtime since the little incident at Canary Warf." He told me while straightening up a little around the office.

"Why did you bring me here Jack?" I asked impatiently, shuffling from one foot to the next.

"Because Rose, we need help."

"What would you need my help for?"

"Rose, Torchwood is dying, but we all saw you transported to that parallel world. I know that the Doctor would not be able to jump making it impossible for you to be standing here. Also I saw your TARDIS so I know that you can help us, so we can help you."

"What could you give me that would be of value?"

"Information Rose, we can give you trails to follow the Doctor and secure your eventual reunitement. All we ask is for you to bring back small bits of alien technology for us to study."

"Last time you did that I nearly got sucked in an endless black hell and Cybermen conquered the human race. Why should I trust you?"

"Come on Rose, its me. I'm done being a con man."

I stood there, pondering whether or not to trust him. It was Jack, but it was Jack in Torchwood. After a few silent awkward minutes I looked him in the eyes.

"Alright Jack I'll help you. But you cross me and I will make your life a living hell." I said with an edge in my voice.

"Alright then I won't make you mad. Simple enough babe."

I hid a small smile by looking at the floor. I quickly wiped it off of my face and looked back at Jack.

"Alright Jack tell me where to start looking, other than the obvious lack of a hospital." I told him.

Jack furrowedw his brow he pressed a button on something attached to his ear.

"Alright good to know Jimmy. Rose looks like the hospital is back I'd suggest heading over there now. And welcome to Torchwood."
