Girl Power

1/1

The girls in the front row are holding hands, screaming along the words to every song. For now, their world has been reduced to this hundred-person venue, to the front row, where they watch their favorite girl bands play.

When they leave, they're empowered. For a few short hours they've forgotten the dangers that lie in the way of every woman, from rape and murder to name calling. But now, the realization seems to wash over them in the wave of cold air that greets them as they step outside the door. They aren't safe, and they know this as soon as one of the men standing outside whistle at them.

One girl turns, yells. Flips him the bird and walks away, hand in hand, with her friends. They're on top of the world, and they're going to change this patriarchal society, whether the boys like it or not.
