-Two Months Later-
-November-

"Matt?" I called from upstairs.

"Yeah babe?" Matt yelled back.

I could hear the video game.

Matt and his video games.

"What should I wear to your parents house tonight?"

"Umm. Nothing to fancy. I'm just wearing what I already have on." Jeans and a tee shirt.

"Okay."

I sighed and threw another shirt on the floor.

I'm meeting Matt's parents for the first time tonight.

I am pretty nervous.

"Babe! Come on. It's almost 6."

"Okay."

I finally decided on a shirt and finished getting ready.

I walked down stairs and grabbed my purse.

Matt grabbed me and kissed me.

"It's going to be okay babe." Matt said, kissing my forward head. "They are going to like you."

"Okay babe." I said. "I'm just getting nervous."

"It's going to be okay."

"Quit telling me that." I said, slapping his arm. "You sound like a broken record."

"I'm only speaking the truth." Matt said, shrugging.

"We're wasting time." I said.

"Okay, okay." Matt said.

We left the house and got into his expedition.

Matt drove us to his parents house.

I started playing with my hair.

"Babe. It's going to be okay." Matt said.

I glared at Matt.

"Quit telling me that." I said.

"Let's go." Matt said, getting out and coming to open my door.

"Game face Anna. Game face." I said to myself.

Matt grabbed my hand and laced our fingers together and gave me a squeeze.

"You ready?" He asked.

I nodded and he opened the door.

"Mom. Dad." Matt called into the house. "We're here."

A blonde woman a little taller than me came in.

A smile all over her face.

"Hello. You must be Anna. I'm Kim." She said, reaching out and hugging me.

"I'm Anna." I said.

"Matt has told me so much about you."

"Oh really now?" I said, looking at Matt.

"Don't worry hun. It was all good."

"What can I say." Matt said, shrugging.

"Where is she?" A man said, who is about the same size that Matt is.

"Over here dad." Matt said.

"Hello. I'm Gary." He said, hugging me too. "Matthew, you didn't tell me she was this pretty."

I started blushing and said a small thank you.

A girl with blonde hair who was really tall came next.

"Hi. I'm Amy." She said. "Matt's little sister."

"I'm Anna."

"Alrighty! Let's go sit at the table, so we can eat." Kim said, moving us all into the kitchen.

I sat next to Matt, Gary sat at the end, Amy sat across from me.

Leaving the spot next to Gary open for Kim.

"So Anna. Matt tells us that you are in the music industry too?" Gary asked.

"Yes. I'm a band manager. I've managed the band, 'Knights of Tomorrow' for a long time now." I said.

"Oh really?" Amy asked.

"Yeah. The singer Mikaela and the lead guitarist Daniel and I have been friends since we were 3 and the other boys, I've known them since I was 6."

"Wow. Kinda just like Matt?" Gary asked.

"Yeah. It's kinda funny how things work out." I said.

"Dinner is ready." Kim said.

On the table already is a salad and Kim brought a pan of lasagna out.

"Mmmm. It looks good mom." Matt said.

"You act like she doesn't feed you." Kim said, laughing.

"I know Matt." I said, glaring at him.

"You cook great babe. But it's mom's cooking that you can never deny."

That felt like a punch to the chest.

I forced a smile and we started eating.

After dinner and cleaning up, we settled down in the living room.

I looked around and saw a bunch of pictures of Amy and Kim.

It made me really upset.

"I need to go to the bathroom."

I stood up and went to the bathroom, crying in the process.

-Matt's POV-

Anna got up all of a sudden and the bathroom door shut.

I frowned and mom came in from the kitchen.

"Where's Anna?"

"She started looking around and then got up to go to the bathroom." I said.

"Oh, is she okay?" Kim asked.

"I'll go check."

I stood up and went to the bathroom, knocking softly.

"Babe, are you okay?" I called.

"Yeah. I'm fine. I'll be right out."

"Okay."

I went back to the living room and sat down.

"I really like her Matt." My mom said.

"Yeah. She's a lot better than that other whore." Amy said.

"Amy!!!" Mom yelled.

"You got that right sis." I said, giving her a high five.

"She is a very lovely girl." Dad said.

Anna came back and sat next to me.

Her eyes looked slightly puffy and her cheeks were red.

"Are you okay babe?" I asked her.

She just nodded and got into a conversation with my mom.

After two more hours, we went home.

The whole car ride home was silent.

Once home, Anna went straight to the room and went to the bathroom.

I waited until she came out to talk to her.

"Babe, what really happened tonight?" I asked.

"I said, nothing babe. Don't push." She snapped.

"I'm not pushing." I snapped back.

"Why do you want to know so bad Matt?" She asked.

"Because I'm your boyfriend Anna. I think I have the right to know." I said.

"Fine. My mom died when I was 10 and I just forgot what it was like to have a mom." She said. "There. Are you happy?"

I didn't say anything as she sat on the bed and put her head in her hands.

I walked over to her and knelled in front of her.

"Babe. Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.

"It's something I don't like to talk about Matt." She said, tears rolling down her face.

"Please tell me Anna."

She nodded and started talking.

"When I was 10, my mom meant everything to me. She was my best friend. One night, she couldn't take me to dance rehearsal. So my dad took me. She was going to pick me up. Well when it came time to the end of rehearsal, my mom never showed up. It wasn't until, my dad came and picked me when I knew something was wrong. Halfway to the dance studio, my mom got hit by a drunk driver. She died before she even got to the hospital. I missed out on my mother daughter time. I missed out on her sending to middle school, or high school. I never got to experience anything with my mom. And it hurts me Matt. It hurts me deeply and seeing your mom and Amy, broke my heart. Because I never had that. And I wish so badly that I did. I miss my mom so much Matt. But I am so thankful for my dad. He raised me to be who I am today. And I wouldn't change that for anything. I just wished I'd get to see my mom one more time."

Halfway through, she started crying again.

I pulled her into my chest and she just cried and cried.

"Baby. Your mom is always watching you. And I bet she is so proud of what you've accomplished in life. And I think she misses you too." I said.

"You're right Matt." She said. "That felt good to get it out."

"Good babe." I said, kissing her forehead.

"So I met your parents. How about taking a trip down to Albuquerque for Thanksgiving to meet my family?"
