Fernweh

Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed between man and the universe. ~Anatole France

Frankie Jackson likes to say he suffers from fernweh. It sounds better than wanderlust. Perhaps it is because he hates the word lust; dirty and brimming with sweaty desperation. So whenever people ask him why he looks so dreamy he will wave his hand around dismissively and say with a half-hearted smirk:

“Oh, I just suffer from fernweh.”

It was his love for being there rather than here that found him atop the cliffs that embrace Wilson's Promontory, breathing in the salty sea air and letting the coarse sea winds rush over his face.

He had finally found freedom
That was his destination
This is his journey.
