Merry Christmas, Kiss My Ass

But you left me empty handed, yeah,

A week later.

I woke up the next morning, Jacob cuddled into me as he yet again wouldn’t sleep in his own bed last night. I still hadn’t told Alex what I had to tell him, and at this moment I really didn’t want too. It was currently 10am, the one reason I liked weekends was that I could stay in bed. But not when Jacob was with me. I couldn't help but constantly check on him with him having nightmares, I guess it was just instinctive of me to do so.

"Jacob," I murmured. "Wake up buddy, time for breakfast." I added as I saw him stirring.

"But I don't wanna get up, Rewby. I tired." He said, his cute little baby voice making me smile.

"But you have too, bud. Mommy will be making breakfast for you." I said and chuckled as he suddenly awoke. He gently climbed out of the big bed as he was only little and pointed towards the door so I opened it. I quickly climbed out of bed and made my way over to the door so I could open it for him. Once it was open he ran out into the hallway but stayed there knowing he couldn't go down on his own. I held tightly onto his hand as we made our way rather quickly down the stairs.

"There's momma's baby!" My mother exclaimed as he ran towards her. "I've made pancakes for you." She said in a slight baby voice as she sat him down in front of the TV and placed the sliced up pancakes in front of him. I sat down on the sofa and watched him as he ate, making sure he didn't choke on the bite sized pieces. A knock was sounded at the door not moments later and I sighed softly before standing up and making my way over to the door. I opened it quickly, startling the person behind it. I laughed when I saw Alex standing there clutching onto his chest.

"Jesus, woman! Could you have opened the door any faster?" He asked with a slight laugh and I grinned as I opened the door wider to let him in. It was almost winter now, and it really was getting chilly. I mainly realised this as I barely had on and clothes apart from some pajama shorts and a tank top and also the fact that Alex was wearing many layers of clothing.

“What do you want this early in a morning, Gaskarth?” I asked curiously and he shrugged softly as he sat down on the sofa.

“Oh, good morning Alex, would you like some pancakes?” My mother asked politely and I scoffed as I sat down beside him.

“So he gets offered pancakes, and I don’t?” I asked with fake hurt, she chuckled softly before rolling her eyes.

“I’ll get you some with Alex honey.” My mother said and I smiled in victory. She wondered back into the kitchen and I turned around on the sofa, resting my back against the arm.

“So, what are you really here for Gaskarth?” I asked with a soft laugh and he shrugged.

“I was wondering.. If you wanted to come to mine and the guys band practice?” He asked and I sighed as I thought about it.

“I don’t think I can.. I have to look after Jacob while my Mom goes to work..” I sighed and he shrugged softly as my Mother passed him his pancakes. He said ‘thank you’ before carrying on his conversation with me.

“Bring the little guy along, you know the guys are gonna love him just as much as I do.” He smiled and I returned it before nodding.

“Sure, why not.” I said with a soft giggle as I looked over at Jacob who was watching his cartoon programs.

“We’ll tone it down for the little guy too, don’t worry.” He chuckled as Jacob turned from the TV to glare daggers at him.

“I’m a big boy!” He exclaimed loudly and Alex chuckled as he shook his head, his messy hair going everywhere as he did so.

“Sorry dude, I know you are.” Alex said, a warm smile on his face as the little boy smirked, instantly looking back towards the TV.

2 hours later.

I was just finishing getting ready when Alex yet again knocked on my door.

“Ruby! Hurry up, you take forever!” He shouted for around the seventeenth time since I’d been getting ready.

“Alex, it’s been ten fucking minutes!” I exclaimed back. “Plus, come in if you like. I really don’t care. I’ll go in the bathroom to get changed.” I said loud enough for him to hear and he sighed before opening the bedroom door and instantly flopping down on the mattress. I got together all my clothes and put up a finger, insinuating I would be one minute. I quickly walked into the bathroom and changed into my clothes that were suitable for the cold, icy weather outside. I quickly added some eyeliner, some foundation and powder before exiting the room. “See, I took like ten minutes.” I said as I laid down next to him.

“I so have to sleep here one day.. Your beds way too comfy.” He murmured softly and I laughed to myself.

“So boy, where does your girlfriend think you are?” I asked and he groaned as he rolled his eyes.

“Not my girlfriend. And she knows I’m here. She got pissy about it, but there’s nothing she can do. That’s why I didn’t invite her to band practice cause I knew she’d end up causing trouble with you.” He said and I smiled as I thanked him. I climbed up from the bed and grabbed his hand to help him up also. We quickly walked out of the door and I smiled at my mother who was just about to leave for work.

“Don’t have Jacob back too late, his bedtime’s at 8pm. I don’t want you guys back no later than that.” My mother explained and I nodded in understanding as I picked Jacob up, balancing him on my hip. We walked out of the house and instantly locked up. “Now, you be careful with him.” My mother said as she kissed both of our cheeks and fled quickly to the car. “Goodbye Alex!” She exclaimed from the car window as she drove off and he waved as she left.

“May we please get in the car? This two year old isn’t getting any lighter!” I exclaimed as I pulled the toddler up so he was more securely on my hip.

“Oh yeah, sure.” He laughed as he opened the car. I instantly got in the back, buckling myself and Jacob up safely. And soon enough we were off to what I presumed was Alex’s house.

Once we arrived at our destination I unbuckled myself and Jacob and followed Alex to the front of the house.

“Mom! I’m home!” He shouted and his mother got up from the kitchen and instantly came over to me, cooing at Jacob that was in my arms.

“Oh my goodness, he’s adorable!” She exclaimed and I giggled along with Jacob. “You must be Ruby, I’m Isobel. Alex talks about you and this little guy very much.” She said with a kind smile, her accent thick and British, which was something I really did not expect.

“It’s lovely to meet you Isobel.” I smiled. “And he does, does he?” I asked with a soft laugh and he sighed as he threw his hands into the air.

“Leave me be!” He exclaimed and I just giggled along. “Where are the guys?” Alex asked in confusion.

“Their already in the basement setting up darling, call me if you need anything.” His mother said before turning around and making her way back to the kitchen.

“Come on.” Alex said and showed us where to go. I followed him down the basement stairs and smiled at everyone as they came in sight.

“Oh my goodness!” All the girls squealed as they saw my baby brother in my arms. “He’s so cute!” Caitlyn exclaimed as I set Jacob down on the floor.

“Thanks, because of your brother we’ve lost our audience.” Jack laughed softly and I just simply stuck out my tongue. “Alex! Stop messing with the toddler and set up!” Jack exclaimed and Alex laughed softly as he stood up from his place in front of Jacob and walked over to his guitar.

Three hours later.

“I’m sitting her wishing for something that’s missing, I’m waiting for you, to tell me that time keeps on passing. I’m hoping, I’m asking, to stand by your side. At least for tonight.” Alex sang and I smiled as I bounced Jacob who was sat on my knee, Staring intently at Alex as he played. Jacob giggled softly to himself as he looked at jack who was flying around the room, still playing his guitar.

“So, what did you think?” Alex asked as he sat beside me and Jacob after their practice. I smiled softly as the little boy in my arms jumped around.

“Alex amazing!” Jacob exclaimed and I giggled as I nodded at the toddler.

“What he said.” I said and Jack gasped as he faked a hurt look.

“And what about me Ruby.” Jack pouted as he kneeled in front of me and Jacob.

“Jack is great too, right Jake?” I asked the two year old and he clapped happily.

“Jack amazing tew!” He exclaimed and a humongous grin lit up Jacks face.

"I like him." Jack chuckled before getting up from his place and packing away his guitar.

It was currently only 4pm so me and Jacob had plenty of time left with the guys.

"I have a little treat for you and Jacob, if you'd be okay with coming?" Alex asked curiously, I shrugged as I bounced Jacob on my legs.

"Yeah sure, we have like four hours left so I'm sure it'll be fine." I smiled and he grinned softly before getting up from his seat next to us and putting away his guitar.

“So yeah.. Guys.. We’re out.” Alex said as he grabbed my hand to help me off the sofa.

“Be safe!” Jack screamed as we quickly left the house. I placed Jacob back on my hip as we walked over to the car, Alex was still laughing at what Jack said moments ago.

“Where we going Alex?” Jacob asked with a confused expression and Alex smiled as we all got into the car.

“It’s a surprise buddy, it’s to say sorry to your sister for being so mean to her. And also for you to say I’m sorry for not coming around.” He smiled at the little toddler as he started up the engine. Soon enough we were off to where ever the place was that Alex was taking us.

;;

“Alex, you didn’t have to bring us here..” I said. We were currently outside a slightly fancy restaurant that also had a play area for any children such as Jacob.

“I did Ruby, it’s my apology.” He said with a soft smile as he grabbed Jacobs hand and lead him into the place. I followed not far behind and Alex instantly lead us to a table close to the play area.

“Babe, Don’t go too far into the play area, stay where I can see you.” I warned the two year old and he nodded softly as he went to play with some building blocks not far away. “You really didn’t have to bring us here.. It‘s way too much.” I sighed softly as I looked at Jacob from the corner of my eye. No way in hell was I loosing him. Alex grabbed my hand from across the table, threading his fingers with mine.

“Ruby, it was needed. I lost an amazing girl as a friend. And now I’m celebrating getting her back.” He smiled and I couldn’t help but grin.

“But.. Where does Lisa think you are..?” I asked quietly and he sighed as he shrugged.

“I have no idea. I haven’t talked to her in a while.. Apart from telling her not to come to the practice today.” He said, his voice clear of emotion as he kept his hand laced with my own. It felt sort of.. Nice in a way. I hadn’t had this attention in a while, and it was definitely something I liked. I looked down at the menu and went through all the things before deciding on lasagne.

“Jacob honey! Come pick your food.” I shouted towards the two year old and he came running up to us.

“Food! Food!” He exclaimed as he attempted to jump up on to a chair.

“Honey, I’ll go get you a proper chair for you.” I giggled and he huffed.

“But I wanna sit in this big boy chair!” he exclaimed and I just shrugged and left him where he was. “Can I have the Scampi Rewby?” Jacob asked and I nodded softly as I looked at Alex who’s hand was again still attached to mine. Not long later the waitress came over. She instantly smirked as she saw Alex, completely ignoring the fact that our hands were attached and that I could be his girlfriend.

“May I take your order?” She said, a little too cheery for my liking.

“Um.. Sure. Could I have the ribs, the lasagne and the kids portion of scampi please. And also three cokes for our drinks.” He smiled and she grinned back as she licked her lips. She listed off our order and Alex nodded as it was all we wanted. She smiled softly before leaving without another word. I chuckled softly as she left, watching her attempt to shake her hips.

“Women these days.” I laughed as Alex joined in. I covered Jacob‘s ears, letting Alex‘s hand go in the process. “Having to tart themselves up in front of customers to get laid. Really disgusting if you ask me.” I stated as I un-cupped my hands from around his ears.

“I agree. But it’s fun watching them try.” He laughed and I laughed along. I placed my hands back on the table and he instantly took my hand again. I didn’t know where this suddenly came from in Alex, but I wasn’t really complaining. Jacob was staring intently at our hands on top of the table.

“Rewby and Alex together?” Jacob asked in confusion and I shook my head softly as I giggled. He pointed towards our hands with the same confused expression.

“No we’re not buddy. We’re just really close friends. And when boys and girls are really close friends like myself and Alex, sometime’s they hold hands.” I attempted to explain but he crossed an arm over his chest and pointed the other at me.

“I’m notta baby, Rewby!” He giggled. “And I know that’s a lie too, Rewby.” He scowled slightly and I just giggled softly. Not long after that our food came, the slutty waitress slipped a piece of paper under Alex’s plate and I scoffed lightly with a smile.

“Looks like you have an admirer, Lex.” I chuckled and he just rolled his eyes softly as he threw the piece of paper on the floor.

“I’m not interested in her.” He smiled and with an awkward silence setting in, we ate our food.
