The Change

Websites and Restaurants

-Brian's POV-

The look on Jen's face was priceless and I couldn't help but smirk out at her. When she said she had no idea what Syn Gates Clothing was I have to admit I was a little relieved. It meant that she also had no idea who I was. For once I was not having to deal with an obsessed fan. Not that I don't love them I love all of my fans.. oh you know what I mean.

Jen sat down and I started with basic interview shit. I was already planning on hiring her but I couldn't just have her sit down and be like 'You got the job'. I had to make it look professional. I had to admit I was a bit shocked when she handed me her resume. There wasn't a whole lot on it but I can't remember a previous employee ever doing that before.

"Do you know how to use a computer?"

She nodded. "Yes I do."

"Okay good. What about working with websites?"

"Yes."

"Alright. First off all you got the job second of all I am putting you in charge of all the bullshit that no one else can do. Taking online orders and keeping the website updated. I'd do it myself but I'm sure I'd only fuck something up."

She chuckled softly. "I won't screw anything up I promise."

I smiled. "I know you won't. Next thing.. dress code. I really don't have one. I prefer my employees dress comfortable. T-shirts, shorts, jeans that sort of thing but you are more than welcome to dress that like if you'd like."

She blushed and I couldn't stop the grin from appearing on my face.

"You can wear any band tee as long as it's not Bieber and as for other clothing company's I'm fine with Affliction and of course anything from Vengeance University. I guess shit like Old Navy is fine too but anything else.. forget it. Oh and one more thing."

"What's that?"

"Each employee gets one free Syn Gates shirt of their choice. You also get a discount on any future purchases. All the employees will come to you when they want to buy something. You however will come to me. Not that I don't trust you or anything but it's just to make sure nothing gets stolen." I paused then remembered something else I wanted to say. "I do make it a point for my employees to wear the shirts in public. You know publicity shit."

She nodded. "Not a problem."

"Good."

"So um.." She cleared her throat. "What should I call you here?"

"Most just call me Syn or Gates. Either or both is fine. None of the Mister crap though. Ashley only does it because she knows it pisses me off."

"Got it."

"Alright. Let me show you around then we'll head into the warehouse so you can pick your shirt."

-Jen's POV-

"I cannot believe you did that to me." I said as I sat in the passenger seat of Brian's car.

He just laughed. "My bad. Can't a boss have a little fun with their employees?"

"I guess so." I said as I felt the car stop. "Um, what are we doing here?"

"Having lunch." He said as he put the car into park. "You are hungry right?"

"Um yeah.."

He smiled. "Great. Let's go."

I slowly followed him into the restaurant and felt a bit uncomfortable. He didn't always take new employees out for a meal did he?

We got a table in the back corner and sat down. Brian never even opened his menu while I had no idea what I even wanted.

"Do you do this for all of your employees?" I asked never taking my eyes away from the menu.

"Do what?"

"Take them out for lunch."

He shook his head. "Nope but I was hungry and you just happened to be in the car with me."

I just nodded as the waiter came to take our orders. Once we ordered Brian and I talked. I found out he was in a pretty successful band. His parents were divorced and re-married to other people and he had two brothers and a sister. I wasn't sure but I didn't think that bosses we're suppose to tell you about themselves but then again Brian wasn't your average boss. I guess he could do anything he wanted.

We ate and before I knew it we were pulling into his driveway.

"Brian?"

"Yeah?"

"You never told me what time to be in tomorrow."

"No later than nine."

I nodded and thanked him again before getting out of the car. I made my way over to my house and in the front door surprised that the house wasn't completely trashed. Peeking into the living room I couldn't help but smile as I saw Tyler and Zacky playing with cars while Jimmy was playing Tea Party with Hannah.

"Jenna!" Both kids screamed and ran straight towards me.

I hugged them both tightly. "Were you two good today?"

"Yes!"

I raised an eyebrow. "Are you lying?"

"No."

"Don't worry Jen. They were good. I watch my niece and nephew whenever I'm home and these two are nothing compared to them." Zacky said as he and Jimmy got to their feet.

I smiled. "I don't have any money right now but--"

"Don't worry about it." Jimmy shook his head. "We wouldn't take it anyway."

I nodded and watched as they said goodbye to the twins before leaving. Hannah told me they had already ate lunch so I didn't have to make them anything. They ran off to play while I headed up to my room to change. I put on an Old Navy NYC v-neck and a pair of shorts before tackling some more boxes. I hated doing all of this by myself but I didn't have much of a choice. The boxes won't unpack themselves.

I figured I would start with the kids clothes so I walked into Hannah's bedroom and opened one of the boxes. I had already put some of them away so I didn't really have a lot left. There seemed to be more toys than anything and most of them were already all over the floor.

After what seemed like hours I got both the kids clothes put away as well as their toys and headed downstairs for something to drink. Opening the refrigerator my jaw dropped when I saw it was completely stocked with food. Food I know I didn't buy. Closing the door I began going through the cabinets and the pantry to find they were filled with food too. Turning around I jumped when I saw Hannah and Tyler standing before me with smiles on their faces.

"We went shopping. It was fun." Hannah said as she and Tyler told me all about their day. They were pretty busy those few hours that I was gone and I made a mental note to thank Zacky and Jimmy the next time I saw them. They along with Brian didn't have to do anything or this stuff for me. They didn't even know me but I wasn't about to complain. I knew I needed help but I wasn't the type to just run out and ask for it. I liked doing things on my own and only asking for help when I knew I couldn't do it any longer.

I had a feeling we were really going to like it here.
