Familiar Breath of My Old Lies

"Brook, wanna go to the drug store and get a test?" I asked her.

"Yes…" She replied quietly.

We got to the drug store and went to the right aisle.

"How many are we getting?" I asked.

"Um…I don't know."

I rolled my eyes and picked up five different ones while she did the same. I also picked up two boxes of condoms. We all need to be smarter about the whole having sex thing. Besides, I don't think any of us are mature enough to have a kid right now.

We got to the check out line and the cashier gave me a funny look.

"What? You've never seen someone buy pregnancy tests and condoms at the same time?" I asked.

She shook her head and muttered something about sex crazed teens.

We got everything and then went back to the dorm. I went to our room and Brook went to the bathrooms. I got a timer and then went to the bathrooms.

We waited the time we were suppose to wait.

I heard Brook let out a sigh of relief.

"It's negative."

"Take another one to be sure."

She did and it was the same.

"Thank God!" She exclaimed.

"No more having unprotected sex for me."

I couldn't help it, I laughed. That started her laughing too.

"What about you and Brian?"

"What about us?"

"Don't have unprotected sex."

"Hun, I don't have to worry about that…I'm on birth control and I'm not planning on having sex with him anytime soon."

"You say that now….and trust me it will happen."

"Whatever. Let's get out of here," I replied. She nodded and got all of our stuff up.

Then we went back to our room and chilled. Practice starts tomorrow for basketball season. I'm so excited for it.
