Two Worlds

The House

"I don't think this is the best idea." I stated as I was looking up upon the really creepy looking house that Amanda took me to.

It was late Thursday afternoon after school and Amanda had taken me to a town in Dorset, nearby Somerset to introduce me to this "magic" stuff. Apparently, there was this doctor who knew how to kill unwanted spirits.

Which I never believed in.

But hey, I never thought going back in time was possible... So anything is possible at this moment.

And believe me when I say the house was way beyond creepy.

It was painted entirely black. It was a very small house with only one roof, two window sills and one very dark brown door; but the stairs that led to the house were as long as leading to the entrance upon the palace's. The house was slightly hidden behind trees and it was the only house that was on this road.

It seemed like a dead road too.

Considering the street was also a dead end.

And there was only one house on this street.

Which made it more creepier.

Amanda scratched her head, "I remember coming to this house when I was younger... but I don't recall it being this creepy."

She nugdged on my hand and I exclaimed, "Hmm! Why are you pulling me?"

"Well... We have to go up there."

"Say what now?" I asked.

She groaned, "We... Have... To... Go... Up... There... Understand?"

I shook my head slowly... I then poked her a little... "Umm... I wanna guess you didn't make an appointment."

"An appointment to kill a spirit out of someone's body... Of course... I appointed the dude at 5 o clock sharp... We can't be late." She replied sarcastically.

"You really wanna joke when we're standing in front of a house that could be part of The Most Haunted Places." I said shakily.

She let out a laugh and then pulled me again, "Well. What are you waiting for? Let's go."

I pushed her back a little bit replying, "You go first."

"What?! You expect me to go up that long flight of stairs by myself?" She asked. I pointed my finger at her, "You are the one who took me here. You shouldn't be afraid of this place."

"I thought you weren't afraid of anything Ms... I'm-Not-Afraid-Of-Anything."

I sighed loudly, wiping the sweat off my forehead. I began chuckling, "I can handle ghosts and spirits. Creepy houses that have psycho people living in them... Is just not for me."

She rolled her eyes and after a few seconds, the door from the house shut very loudly and I let out a little shriek. I hid behind Amanda bending down, tugging onto her shirt and she sighed. "Madison Spencer Anderson. You scared the living hell out of me. Get up from down there. I'm sure you don't want my butt in your face."

I slightly stood up and replied, "I'd rather have your butt in my face than a creepy guy's face in my face..."

I stopped for a second when I saw her eyes giving me a funny look. I gulped then giggled, "Did that make any sense?"

I felt her rolling her eyes and then I linked my arms with her. The door then shut again very loudly and I gave out a little jump, but no shriek. I didn't want whoever was in the house to get any more... louder.

Just then I felt something touch the back pockets of my pants and I screamed so loud. "Ahhhhh! What is that???"

Amanda gave me a funny look and I looked back to hear my phone ringing. I let out a small chuckle and she crossed her arms at me. I opened up to see my phone and it was Riley who was calling me. She and I looked at each other with a worried face and then I changed my phone to a vibration.

"You're not picking it up?"

"There's a spirit in him. I'm sure the spirit is high tech by now." I joked.

I put my phone back in my back pocket and let it vibrate many, many times. I continued looking at the creepy house and sighed, "Are we going?"

She nodded at me and held on to my hand, as she led the way towards the stairs. We looked up, and it was extremely deep -- and thought about if I fell off this staircase, I would probably break a neck, or worse... Be dead.

We walked up slowly hand in hand and it took us about ten minutes to get up the top of the stairway. I sighed loudly and Amanda tried letting go of my hand. She gave me a confused look and I laughed at her, "Funny."

She squinted her mouth at me and then scratched her head. She breathed quickly in and out before placing her hand on the door. She formed her hands into a fist and then knocked on the door. She knocked on the door three times but there was no answer after thirty seconds. We looked at each other with frightened eyes and then I took a turn to knock on the door three times.

After a minute... Still no answer.

"Maybe we should've made an appointment." I joked.

She slightly groaned and then a very loud voice came from the side of the house.

"Who dares disturbs me at this time?!?!"

We both jumped and turned around to see a balding old guy with white hair, wearing all black clothing that was ripped... Dark brown eyes and looked pretty pissed off right now.

Amanda tried to joke and giggled, "I thought you were open."

He came up to us and then we took about two steps backwards.

Well... I did, anyway.

"I take it you come to me for business." He started. His face seemed to downed the anger a little, but he still looked mad.

I smiled at him and started, "We can come another time if you're not available." I tugged on Amanda's hand to indicate her that we should just leave this place. She squeezed my hand tightly and glared at me.

"Yes. Are you... Mr. Breoner?"

He crossed his arms at us, but didn't answer her.

Okay... Creepy wasn't enough... But creepy and rude? What an ass.

"I take it that's a yes." Amanda sputtered. He continued standing there without saying anything and then she continued. "Listen. This may be kind of hard to understand, but we have a friend... who gets possessed by this spirit... From a guy in the 1900s. And we want to get rid of that spirit because it's beginning to hurt all of us."

He squinted his mouth a little and began, "What is a spirit from the 1900s doing in your friend's body?"

Amanda looked at me and shook her hand. I scratched my head with my other hand and tempted, "I'll make it long story short. I can travel back in time... and there's this guy there that has the same face as my friend in this century. And the spirit that possesses my friend in this century is the guy I see when I go back in time."

"And what exactly does he want?" He asked.

"I don't know. I was wondering if you could help out with that."

He coughed three times.

Then sat down by the chair nearby.

He started, "I am able to delete spirits out of someone's body. But I am not a psychic. I am not able to do it unless you know the entire story of why he is in this century. Does he have an effect on you when he is possessed?"

I was a bit shaky because this dude was really scary looking.

I gulped, "Umm. Yes. He's normal whenever I don't mention someone. You see, I'm really close with a guy when I go back and he is the brother of that guy. So when I do mention that particular person, he changes into a different person. He's mad, angry and crazy."

He stood up again and replied, "If you need me to get rid of the spirit, I'd suggest that you need to know what he wants with you. It must be something if he is following you up to this century."

I sighed loudly and shifted my head left to right.

Amanda cut in, "So basically... We can't do this anytime soon."

I looked at her and back at the creepy dude, and then smiled. "Thank you. We'll be in touch." I quickly pulled on her hand and then we went back down the stairway."

After a few minutes, he said from the top, "Make sure you know what he wants. You might have done something bad to him, which is why he is angry when he is possessing your friend."

I looked back at Dr. Broener and nodded.

That just gave me an idea.

We arrived to the bottom of the stairs and she sighed so loud. "Oh my god! That was so scary. I thought he was going to eat our souls out or something."

"Creepy dude's got a good idea. I might have done something to him that made him have to follow me up into this century."

We got into her car and she started her car engine. Amanda asked, "What do you mean?"

"If Elizabeth, Amelia and Valeria want me to help them... Do you think they want me to change something in history?"

"Change something in history?" She asked slowly. I nodded my head at her and pointed, "Duke Richard's spirit doesn't like it when I mention Duke Robby. He gets pissed."

I thought about the time where I had gone a date with Riley.

How he yelled at me as he was dragging me to the car... Why did you have to choose him?. And at the hospital, where he yelled, Miss Madison... Don't go with Robert. I'm in love with you..

"If I did something wrong to Duke Richard in that century... I can try to change it before it happens."

"And how are you going to do that?"

"Riley only gets possessed if I mention Duke Robert. If I ask him... And get the answer, I could go back to that century to try to prevent it from happening. And maybe the spirit doesn't have to be so pissed off at me."

Amanda smiled and patted my shoulders, "You... Are so going to Cambridge University with me."

I slightly smirked then sat back.

Well, I'm gonna have to risk another day with Duke Richard's spirit.

-->

When I came back home, I saw Dad moving around the kitchen counter. I went up to the kitchen table and saw a pepper spray, a very small gun and his favorite electric shocker lined up straightly.

I coughed, "Dad... What are you going to hunt?"

"Oh. It's not for me, it's for you."

"Me? Why would I need all of this?"

He clapped his hands together and sighed, "Well... Seeming that you go back in time by yourself and you're exposed to Mr. Duke Robert, Mr. King Edward, Mr. Prince Alfred and Mr. Duke Richard... I'd say you need protection."

"Dad. I'm going back there to help three woman... There isn't going to be a killing involved."

He sighed, "Maddy honey. You are a beautiful teenage woman that any guy in that century would have killed for. You need weapons."

I smiled at him, "I will bring it back just to your satisfaction. Okay?"

He slightly slapped my face and then went near the refrigerator to grab a book. I saw that it was Robby's diary and he handed it to me, "Scott wanted me to give it to you before going back to school. He was afraid you were going to freak out if it wasn't with you."

I smirked and then opened the book to see his picture still there and the destiny magnet that I taped on the front. I smiled looking at his picture and admiring the fact that he looked so handsome that night of the ball.

I heard Dad cough again, "So I heard... You're very close with this Duke Robert guy."

"I am." I replied nodding. "He's really the only nice guy in the palace. He's the first guy that I met when I was there. And he's really helpful."

"And he's the first guy that you've ever liked, right?" Dad asked while crossing his arms. I gulped once and smirked, "What?"

"Oh... Don't play dumb with me, Maddy. Marc's told me the entire story."

"Okay... Talking about relationships with Scott is already weird enough. Don't make me talk about this subject with you too."

Dad slightly smiled and then grabbed my shoulders, "I just wanna tell you... Make sure you know where you belong. I couldn't imagine losing you... Especially knowing where you are."

I wanted to cry.

He is the third person to have lectured me about this.

But this was the saddest one.

I smiled and held onto his hand that was on my shoulder. I only nodded my head and smiled at him. Dad began grinning, "Well... I have an appointment with my friends at seven. I will get back home late so don't wait up."

I nodded then waved at him.

Before leaving the door, he joked, "I don't even know if you'll be back... Cause you'll be... back in time."

I chuckled and shook my head, "Dad... You're so old."

He shrugged, "Don't rub it in."

He walked out of the door and I looked back at the three weapons he wanted me to take back.

I picked up all three of them and laughed, "Pepper spray. Electric shock and a gun. Oh Dad..."

I then thought back about Riley and Duke Richard... And wanted to know if I did anything to him. Did I hurt him?

Why was he so pissed off at me?

-->

After finishing up my homework at 8 at night, I was about to head upstairs when I noticed Robby's diary just sitting on the kitchen table. I opened it up to the front page and admired Robby's picture... Just smiling and missing him.

"I thought you were going to write in your diary the next day... We didn't even say goodbye to each other the last time." I said to myself. I squinted my mouth and thought about that night of the ball.

The kiss that he gave me.

I must've been falling for him, so hard right now.

Then I studied the actual picture.

"How would this picture be inside his diary, at my house..."

Wait...

Robby used to say that Elizabeth would be the only possibility of having his picture. So if Elizabeth has his picture and King Edward has a house waiting for her in Somerset, maybe she brought this picture along with her... To keep her memories.

That has to be it.

I flipped through the many pages that the diary already filled up... And saw a new page... A page that I hadn't read yet.

I began reading, "Maddy... I am still frustrated with your sudden leaving without being able to tell me. You probably do not understand the miss I feel for you terribly. Uncle has extended Elizabeth's stay in the palace so we might be able to help her further. We will speak when you arrive. See you soon.

I must add... I miss you terribly."

I gulped once.

I miss you terribly.

Oh.

My.

Goodness.

Just then the sharp sound came back in my head like a bullet shot. I held my head up and then sighed loudly.

Yes!

I was going back!

The last time I was there, I was there for two days.

So god knows how many days I'll be there now.

I grabbed my backpack from the couch and put Dad's "weapons" in the bag, to make sure he knew that I was back in time, like he said. I grabbed all of my techie stuff -- iPhone, camera and even iPod... So I wasn't bored when there was free time.

I went down to the basement and looked down, to see me wearing my school clothes.

"Should I change?" I whispered to myself.

The sound hit my head again and I began getting a very small headache. I sighed, "Okay. Fine... I'll look like crap when I see Duke Robert. Don't blame me."

I saw the shining doorway and then went up towards it. I placed my hands on it and I was back in the palace within three seconds.

I smiled while touching the doorway.

Good to be back here.

"That's an odd entrance to make."

I gasped while turning around.

Oh crap.

Duke Richard.

Kill me now...
