Two Worlds

The Memory

I slightly chuckled and pointed at him, "You're joking, right?"

"Joking?"

"You're playing a comedy with me... Not I'm playing a comedy with you."

"About what?"

"About the date!" I exclaimed. He slightly jumped backwards and wandered his eyes around, "No... It is 1902."

I gulped very strongly and my eyes widened. "Oh... My... God."

I stood frozen while looking on the ground. No, this was a dream. It had to be a dream. Oh my god, I was not in the century of 1902.

2011 minus 1902... How many years was that part? 109 years... This is not happening. The Duke is playing a joke with me right now. It can't be.

The Duke came up to my face and started, "You look dead. Are you okay?"

I snapped back and breathed heavily. I started laughing, "You...You're playing a joke with me. You're kidding. It can't be 1902."

He nodded, "Why would I play a comedy about that?"

I placed my hand on my head. I felt a reflex. I whispered, "I'm dreaming... This is a dream. I'm gonna wake from it very soon..." I hit myself very hard and it hurt so badly. I sighed, "Okay ow."

Robby looked at me very awkwardly and I looked at the doorway on the wall.

"That doorway... It takes me back in time?" I asked myself as I was looking around the library. The library was very old-fashioned, like you would see in an high society magazine of ancient times. The clock wasn't even running on batteries, it was one of those tick-tock clocks.

No... Dream... Dream.

Robby nudged his head foward and started, "Miss Madison. Are you okay?"

"Miss?"

He nodded and I held my arm out. "Duke... Can you pinch me please?"

He stood backwards and gave me a confused face, "Pinch?"

I grabbed his arms and slightly pinched him and he pulled his arm back quickly. "That... was painful."

I then held out my arm and nudged him to pinch me. He looked down at my arm and asked, "You mean... We have to come in contact with each other?"

Oh god, he was even polite like an old-fashioned dude.

"Yes! Can you please pinch me?!"

He started reaching his arms towards me and kept stumbling back and forth before placing his fingers on my arm. I sighed heavily as I grabbed his wrist and placed it on my wrist. He began pinching me...

And very, very, very hard.

"Owwwwwww!!!!!" I exclaimed.

I pulled my arm away and rubbed the red gash on my wrist. "Okay... Not THAT hard, Mr. Duke!"

Wait.

It hurt.

My wrist had a red gash.

Oh my god.

I wasn't dreaming?

How is this possible? How did I travel back in time within a split second?

"Are all Americans this rude also?"

"How am I rude?"

"Females are not supposed to come in contact with males. It's a sin."

I smirked, "A sin?"

Then I whispered to myself, "Well... Not in my century."

Then I heard the sound of the door and looked at the wall. It began glowing and I sighed. "I'm going back."

"What? You haven't even explained to me how you're here... Where you're from. You can't go now."

I grabbed onto my watch and sighed, "I have to. Do you see that? The doorway is lighting up."

He looked at the wall and shook his head, "I see nothing."

I closed my eyes for a second and sighed, "I probably will come back. If I do, I will try to explain... And you'll probably think I'm more mental than you already think." He then looked down at my hand and pointed to my watch, "Can I at least keep that?"

I looked down... "My watch?"

He nodded and softly grabbed it out of my hands, without being in contact. I let him take it and asked, "Why do you want it?"

"It is quite a strange object. Something you would see years far away from now."

I smiled, "Well... You have no idea."

He started smiling as well and continued, "It is also a slight memory of you. In case we don't meet again."

I looked around the room and thought about the two ghostly woman I saw at my house. I haven't figured out what they wanted me to help them with, so I was most likely coming back.

"I'll come back... Just don't... Call me mad."

The door was shining brighter and brighter, but apparently I was the only one who could see it. I waved at Robby and concluded, "Bye Duke Robert."

I walked to the shining doorway, but he came up and grabbed my wrists. I turned around and saw that he was coming in contact with me. I looked down at my hand then back at him. He smiled, "I thought you were going to call me that short name that you had for me."

"Robby?"

He nodded and I chuckled, "Okay. Duke Robby it is."

"No... I'd rather just have it be Robby. That way it doesn't seem like we're distant on our relationship."

Okay, I slightly choked on that sentence and grinned at him. "Then don't call me Miss Madison again. Maddy is fine."

"I'll remember that."

I looked down at him still holding onto my wrist and coughed, "Aren't you part of a sin if you touch a female?"

He looked down and quickly reflected back. He scratched his head, "My apologies." He slightly nodded his head down and I laughed, "It's okay. Where I come from... It's very normal."

He was so cute. He was so polite... and such a gentleman. Like, he'd never been with anyone before

I wonder how old he is.

Well, he's old in my century... But I mean in this century, now.

I concluded, "I'll come back and ask you so many questions. You just be on the lookout."

He nodded and I began walking towards the doorway. I waved at him once more and he held his hands out and did a slight wave... Slowly placed both hands on the wall, and it flipped me back over. Within a second, I was back in my basement... My dark creepy basement.

I looked around and sat down against the wall.

I saw the book in sight and picked it up to look at it. Robby's picture was still there and I smiled thinking about our first meeting.

Handsome.

A gentleman.

So polite.

Cautious.

And amazingly cute.

What kind of guy was this? Why isn't there any guys like this in today's century. I couldn't control my smiling... all I know is that I wanted to go back again.

I stood up and went to the doorway and touched the wall.

I whispered, "I can't believe you're this close to me."

If this was really a dream... Was it even possible to feel this way? Even though it was absolutely unbelievable, I hoped for it not to be a dream.

** Duke Robert's Point of View **

I was shocked when she went with the door. The wall had a space and she flipped with it. I went in front of it and saw nothing but a regular wall. I touched it. I said to myself, "You're behind here?"

She was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen in my life. Of course, she was odd... but she was absolutely stunning.

She wore quite an exquisit costume that revealed so much of the skin. Her hair was very horrid because it was not up.

She was an American.

For my first encounter with an American, this was the best. It seemed like she made no big deal out of being in contact. She even forced me to squeeze a small part of the skin on her wrist.

This girl was strange but the most amazing. I wanted to meet her again.

I sat down on the table and sighed to myself, looking at her watch. The unexplainable watch that was her value. I then walked to the wall where she came from and touched the wall...

"It seems like you're so close... but yet you're too far away..."

I forwarded my head towards it and continued speaking, "Please... Come back again."

** End of Point of View **

The next day, I woke up to someone jumping in my bed... "Big Brother's Bacccccckkkk!!" I heard Scott yelling as he jumped on my bed. I washed my eyes and put on my glasses to get a better view. I groaned, "Ughhhh Scott. You could've jumped a little softer."

He laughed, "Well... How was I gonna wake you up? It's like 12 and you're still sleeping like a sick person."

He nodded and I continued, "What are you doing here anyway?"

"Visiting for the weekend. Missed you guys. I haven't seen you for like what, a month?"

"Hmm."

I groaned and stood up. He patted my head and smiled, "You good? The house looks better..."

I nodded and looked around, "I agree. Dad did some renovations around the house so it looks a little new. There's just something that makes it creepy, but I don't know what it is yet."

"It is... very... very old. Ever since the 1800's." He said. We both shivered and laughed. Scott continued, "Well... dude. Dad's doing more renovations today, so he told me to come wake you up so you could help with the language. Dad's not very bright when it comes to British language."

"And I am?"

"Better than him. You know he only grew up with American people and doesn't watch any movies. You've had plenty of British friends at your school."

I flipped the blanket off of me and sighed, "Where is Dad anyway?"

"With the renovations dude in the basment."

I started coughing, "Dad's... Renovating the basement?"

"Yeah. Knock a few poles down there."

Ah crap...

I exclaimed, "No... No No no no no!!"

I quickly ran downstairs and into the basement where Dad and the repairment was standing and discussing. I started, "Nooo! Stop!"

They both looked at me puzzled and I sighed as I grabbed Dad's arms. "You cannot knock anything down in this basement. Do what you want in the house, just don't do anything in the basement."

"Why? Aren't you the one who said that this basement is creepy?"

I looked at the repairmen and told him to do other stuff around the house. He followed my orders and Dad looked at me.

"Maddy. What's this about?"

"Please Dad. I'm begging you, not to touch this basement."

"Why? You wanted renovations... I'm giving you renovations."

I closed my eyes and thought that I had to confess. In any way, there wouldn't be a better reason.

"Do you see that shelf over there? And the lines in the wall?"

He looked closer and slightly nodded. I continued, "Dad... I really don't know if you're going to believe me but it's something absolutely unbelievable but it's my only explanation."

He grabbed my shoulders, and I felt Scott and Sam coming down and he asked, "What is it, Madison?"

"That is a doorway... And it takes me to a completely different place. It flips... It calls for me like... during the night time. And a woman takes me through it. I've seen two ghostly figured woman since we moved in here but she's not harmful in anyway. She wants me to help her so she takes me back in time... But I don't know the story yet."

He let go of me and put his arms on his waist. He started laughing. I looked at Scott and Sam who had looked at me like I had ten heads.

I turned back to Dad who sighed, "Madison, honey. I know you have a lot of dreams but..."

"Dad... I'm not dreaming. It actually happened."

He began to frown and shook his head. "Maddy. I know... you don't like this house. But making up stories for us to move out is not going to be the solution."

"Dad... I'm honestly not making up stories! I actually..."

He held his hands up and sighed, "I'm sorry... I'm sorry that we had to move to different countries. I didn't want it to happen either. But it had to happen. This house is the only option we have. Do you understand me?"

"I do... but Dad..."

"Stop. I've spoiled you for too long, it's time that I have to teach you to understand what it's like to be in my position. I am your father, Madison... I am not your servant."

I started crying, "Dad... I don't think you're my servant... I just don't want you to knock down this basement."

Scott came up from behind to squeeze my shoulders as I cried. Dad sighed, "I've spoiled you ever since your mom passed away because I felt bad that you had to watch her die right in front of you. But I am still your father, so you should show me some sort of respect."

Dad walked away and I cried my eyes out. I turned around to Scott and Sam, and hugged Scott. He rubbed my back up and down and sighed, "It's okayyy. It's okay."

"I'm really not lying... I'm telling the truth." I cried. I felt Scott look at Sam but I had no idea what faces they were making.

"Whose our king?" I asked Amanda during lunch at school. She laughed, "Why are you suddenly wanting to know about the Duke and the King?"

"Just wanted to know."

She laughed, "We don't have a king. I think our last king was like King William the third. Which was like hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years ago. We only have a queen."

"Who was the uncle of Duke Robert? He was king right?"

She smiled, "Ah yes. I asked my mother about your Duke Robert. He was the nephew of King Edward the seventh, I believe. But he was only king by the generation. He wasn't a proclaimed king or anything. But my mum stated that Duke Robert was quite the handsome man."

"Very handsome... and polite.... and a gentleman."

"Why do you want to know all of this stuff?"

I shrugged, "It's nothing. I have to do a research paper and I figured it might've been easier to have my own encyclopedia than having to google it."

She nodded and chuckled, "How do you know Duke Robert was polite and a gentleman? Did you do deep research on him?"

"You can say that."

Just then someone sat next to me and I turned around to see Riley. He smiled, "Hello there."

He waved at Amanda and she rolled her eyes, "And the man sits with me when there is another mate on board. Very nice."

I looked at Riley and started, "Riley. Thanks for helping my brother get on the soccer team. He's really loving it."

"Your brother? Which one is your brother? I helped a lot of mates during the tryouts."

"Umm... Matthew... Matthew Samuel Anderson. Little eleven year old kid who has an extremely high voice."

He pointed his fingers, "Ahhh that one. He was a very cute little fella. When I saw him, I had the urge to help him. Must be fate that he's your brother."

"Fate?" Amanda asked.

"Well... I helped him and now I'm friends with his sister. If you don't call it fate, what can you call it?"

As we were eating lunch, Riley smiled and asked, "Do you have a phone here yet?"

"Umm... No. I'm gonna buy the Iphone though... It's really cool and I've wanted one for like three years now."

"Oh, well when you your phone... Hit me up. I'll write down my number for you."

I nodded and he asked, "You have a pen and paper?" I looked for my backpack and it was on the side of him. I motioned my hand over and said, "It's over there. You can grab it... I only have one big pocket."

He smiled and took my backpack to place it on his lap.

He opened my zipper and then froze a little. I looked away to look at Amanda and then he called me, "Madison... Where'd you get this book?"

My eyes widened and then I snatched my backpack from him. "Umm... An old book I had lying around the house. It's nothing." I took a pen and a paper out and had him write his number for me.

But his eyes were going straight towards Robby's diary.
