The next day I woke up and walked to Roger's room where David and Cheryl were sleeping. Instead of just walking in I knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer, that someone was Cheryl.

"Roger is still asleep, so come back later and maybe you can see him." She starts to close the door but I stop her.

"I was actually hoping I could talk to you. I was going to go get some coffee, I was wondering if you would walk with me." I smiled encouragingly, she hesitantly agrees and goes to tell David. I waited in the hall until she came back.

It wasn't long before we were sitting face to face in a coffee shop, her eyes staring at me intensly.

"Why'd you leave us, Nicole?" She asked angrily, I looked down at my coffee.

"I was scared. I had just lost the baby and I was scared that when we got home Roger wouldn't want me anymore. I lost his baby, that's enough for any guy to freak out."

She rolls her eyes, "I don't fall for that. I want to know the truth."

I looked up at her and sighed, "You're right, that is a lie." I looked back down at the table and took a sip of my coffee. "I knew Roger still loved me, there was no doubt about that, I left because I didn't feel worthy to be around anymore. I saw how excited everybody was about that baby and I knew I'd let everyone down by losing it. I knew everyone was hurt by it, so I thought that maybe if I was gone you and Roger could move on and be happy."

She looks down too, "You're wrong though, we were both miserable."

I knew it was hard for Cheryl to just tell me how she felt so I just silently listened.

"You're my best friend and you just left. I've been so miserable without having you to talk to! And Roger was miserable! You shouldn't have left, leaving with that women was the most selfish thing ever!"

"You're right." She looked at me shocked, but didn't say anything else.
