Band on the Run.

"Baby, I'm not sure how I feel about you girls going alone." David says sincerely to Cheryl as we chatted about the music festival, "I mean you don't know what kind of people are going to be there."

Cheryl raised an eyebrow, "Probably people like us." She indicates to our bright, eccentric clothes. I could tell that none of them were comfortable with it, especially David and Roger.

"You're not going." Roger says as matter-of-fact like as he could, David nods is agreement. To me that in itself was weird because Roger and David agreed on very little, even then.

"You know what you dick-brains? You're not ruining this for us! I've spent the last year trying to teach a bunch of awful and uncultured college kids about English, and Cheryl has to cook all day for rich snobs who complain about not liking the pattern on their fucking table cloth. We deserve a vacation, and damn it this is what we want to do! So put that in your pipe and smoke it!" I say with my hands on my hips, Rick and Nick stand up and applaud. Cheryl smiles proudly, I very rarely stood up to anybody, especially not Roger or David.

"Come on Nicole," Cheryl says happily, "We're going to go get some drinks to celebrate our victory."

"We're coming with you!" Nick and Rick say at the same time leaving Roger and David looking very betrayed.

The four of us took off down the road skipping and singing ,"We're off to see the wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Vodka!" Cheryl made it up when me and Tom started dating because he was a bartender who could do amazing things with vodka, hints the nickname "Wizard of Vodka".

"I'm so proud of you Nicole for finally telling them off. Somebody needed to put them in their place." Rick says as we all pile into a cab, Nick calls the address of the club to the driver. We all sing the 'Vodka Song' again and again until we get to the club.

When we got there Rick, Nick, and Cheryl went out to the dance floor and danced. I started up to the bar to talk to Tom but I was stopped by someone grabbing my elbow. I turned around to see Roger, "I need to talk to you." He mutters in my ear and pulls me to a dark corner where nobody could see us.

"Roger, how did you get here so fast? You're like magical or something!" I exclaim, he doesn't find it funny so I grow quiet.

"I don't want you to go Nicole," He looks away from me before he continues, "I'm going to miss you."

"Roger that's sweet, and I'm going to miss you too. You're one of my best friends in the world, but I really want to go to this. Tom is going with us."

When I mention Tom a look of disgust comes over Roger's face, but it disappears as quickly as it appeared.

"Why does he have to go with you?"

I roll my eyes, "Jealous much Roggie-Bear?"

"No," He crosses his arms and leans again the wall, "I just figured he was just a phase you were going through, but if you go off on a trip together and you have sex then it's official that he's going to be around for a while."

"What makes you think we haven't had sex already?"

When he didn't say anything back to me I happily got up an walked to where Cheryl was sitting. I was going to enjoy this night no matter what, Roger was not going to stop that.
