Views of the Lost

Forbidden

There is a shadow so tall
he stretches through the forest
and when the last leaf falls
the wind will bring him torment.

At night he hides inside the darkness
but when the sun peaks overhead
the shadow thins into a crest;
the tallest man in the world instead.

Lost to the wills and the whims
of the slowly sinking day,
the shadow man will purge the sins
of all those who lost their way.

And as the creatures wandering began
under the forest and the bright sky
the shadow man will follow them
until the shallow breathing of night.

Evergreen around his wrists
sunset sky on his fingertips
with cloudy lips and starry eyes
he walks like death among the night.

He's the one who traces patterns
on the walls of every room
he's the one who cleans his breath
on glossy stainglass windows.

Hair as white as snow,
long and tangled as a rope,
rosy lips with skeleton hips,
his hands are chilled down to the bone.

He appears behind our shoulders
when our dark eyes are closed.
His fire-tongue breath gently smolders,
brings our heartbeat back to life.

He's gone in a blink
he disappears with only a wink
leaving only shiver traces
the curious smiles upon our faces.

Behold her alien glory,
her pristine and infinite beauty.
For she is one of the holy,
a daughter born from galaxy.

Her journey is across the sky,
upon our land rests her milky eyes.
Scars of ages older than man,
adorn her crest and mark her end.

She watches us aglow at twilight
and from afar at the breath of dawn.
She watches our prayers to fight,
our sentiments for right and wrong.

With her belly bloated and full,
she bathes in the warmth across her face,
but when her gaze begins to lull,
slowly she will lose her luminous haze.

Luna, luna, the wolves howl her name
as they trot across the empty sands.
Shadow, shadow, the humans sing
as they use her time to rest their hands.

His clenched hands were like those of a skeleton,
yet she could see the life thriving beneath them.
Paper skin covered an entangled nest of blue veins,
pulsing with the blood of delicate emotions and pain.

And even though his eyes were sunken low,
perched down inside his mortal skull,
she could look behind their squinted lashes
to see the shock of lush green sparked flashes.

The cloak of one who wishes to hide in shadow,
and the comfort of the mask that hides the window
to catch emerald glimpses of his deepened spirit,
a whisp of life that treads beyond all merit.

It's difficult for some to understand the moment
when love grips their hearts within its ugly talons.
It spreads like thick foilage across the great Earth,
pretty to look at but deeper than any sort of mirth.

Because true love's roots grow deep and strong.
They travel down below the bones and the bronze
until they entertwine with the very core of the Sea,
meeting with his eyes of shocking lush green.

I'm supposing each chapter will have around 2-5 small segments, or separate poems, combined in it. Hence the sub-titles in the short descriptions. Hopefully that makes sense, haha.
