Carter

I had English first period on a Monday,
something that I normally would of dreaded,
if it had been my last classroom,
but it wasn't,
so I didn't.

Before I had changed classrooms,
I had spent my time in English class on Mondays thinking,
not about the subject though
(it was too hard to focus on anything to do with school).
Now though,
first thing on a Monday morning I didn't let my mind wander,
I listened.

Not to the teacher,
(school was still too painful for me to think about),
but to Carter and Jamie.
They had some very interesting conversations,
and I loved anything I learnt about Carter,
but there was one conversation that stuck with me.

It was the traits they both thought were most attractive,
in a girl,
I hadn't ever listened so hard as I did then,
and what I heard would change me.

Or rather,
I would change myself because of them.
