Sequel: Betrayal

Deception

Together

Amara sat at a table in the library alone. She busied herself by reading a book that only kept her attention part of the time. She never really enjoyed reading, but found she’d rather suffer through some book or another than be in her dorm.

Plus, she figured she’d see Fran or someone in the library. Wasn’t it a hot spot for Ravenclaws?

But she had yet to see her friends, or anyone, really. But she also had no where else to go. Her dormitory was full of excited girls packing up to leave for vacation. And Amara swore she’d tear her hair out if she had to hear Parkinson’s obnoxious laugh one more time.

Amara sighed rather loudly, slamming her book shut and letting it fall with a thump on the table.

In all honesty Amara was stressing. She would finally see the man who betrayed her parents. Who set the events into motion that would eventually ruin her life. She would finally set her eyes on the man for the first time.

And then what?

Her biggest fear was that she’d freeze up. That she’d be too scared to actually do anything. She could talk the talk, but could she walk the walk? And what if he wasn't at all what she imagined him to be.

Though, that was doubtful. From the stories she heard from not only Jonathan, but others as well, he was just as awful as she always imagined him to be.

She briefly remembered him coming to Hogwarts her first year. But Amara had been scared out of her wits to even chance a glimpse of him.

But still, when it came to the point, what would fuel her to ruin this man?

Would it be enough to simply hate the man?

And what about Draco?

By ruining Lucius Malfoy’s life it would mean ruining Draco’s too. Did she really want that?

“Jane?" Suddenly a hand landed on her shoulder, causing her to jump.

Amara looked up at Adrian Pucey and gave him a timid smile. “Don’t scare me like that.”

“Well,” he said as he slid in the seat across from her. He gave her a warm smile. “I called your name several times.”

“Oh,” Amara blinked. “Sorry, I was thinking.”

“You know, you do that a lot.” He said, giving her a curious look.

“What, think?”

“No,” he laughed when she scowled, “you don’t answer when someone calls your name. And not just with me, but with a lot of people.”

“And you know this how?” Amara asked him, crossing her arms over her chest. Fear was slowly griping her.

“Maybe I'm perceptive.” He shrugged, that smile still on his face “It’s almost like it’s not even your real name.”

Amara felt the blood drain from her face, her jaw dropping. She panicked, so many things began running through her head that she couldn't think straight. The correct response would be to laugh at him and tell him how ridiculous that was.

But she just remained frozen. Unable to speak.

But, to her relief, Adrian laughed while shaking his head. “I’m just kidding with you!”

“Right,” Amara chuckled nervously. “Funny.”

He raised a brow. “So why aren’t you away packing your things?”

“I could ask you’re the same thing.” Amara said, raising her own brow to mock him. It only seemed to amuse him though.

“Finished early.” He said with a shrug. “Yesterday, actually. No point in scrambling around today.”

Amara couldn’t help but smile at this. “Aside from avoiding Parkinson, I finished packing yesterday too.”

“Kindred spirits.” Adrian said and gave her a warm smile, but before Amara could determine if the older boy was joking around or not someone interrupted them.

“Leave, Pucey.”

Draco stood next to Amara, his blue eyes set and narrowed at Adrian. Anyone could tell simply by the tone of his voice that the boy was angry. But the look on his face confirmed it.

Adrian gave Malfoy a curious look before standing up. “Okay, then. I’ll talk to you later, Jane.”

“Bye,” Amara said, avoiding Draco’s glare as she watched Adrian leave.

Malfoy slipped into the now empty seat. “What were you doing with him?”

“Talking.” Amara sighed with a roll of her eyes. “Why?”

“Really, you have to ask that?” Malfoy furrowed his brows.

“It’s not like we’re together, Malfoy.”

“Oh really?” Malfoy asked, still looking rather pissed off. “Because if I remember correctly you’re the one that has been going around telling everyone that we are.”

“Yes, but you never actually confirmed that we are.” Amara answered, sitting up straighter. A sudden opportunity presented itself to her. A sly look overcame her features. “But if you say we are, then I promise I’ll never speak to Pucey again.”

Malfoy seemed to like this idea, as his angry expression vanished and a smirk appeared. He crossed his arms and studied her face as if searching for something. “Fine.”

“Fine?” Amara couldn’t help but scoff. “That’s all?”

“Want to seal it with a kiss?” He asked, that cocky look still on her face.

Amara grinned. “Now that’s sounds so much better.”

She stood up and walked over to him before kissing him softly on his lips.

She ginned, grabbing his hand and tugging on it. “Come on, lets go get some lunch.”

He allowed her to pull him from his seat and drag him to The Great Hall.

Amara couldn’t help but smile. But she’d never admit to the real reason why she was, for she simply couldn’t allow herself to actually believe that she may possibly be falling for Draco Malfoy.

So sorry about how short this is. Believe me, I never intended for it to be this short. But the upside is that she finally meet's Draco's parents in the next chapter.
