Chapter Nine

The start of something New?

Emily dozed on and off during the next three days that John was sick he was actually doing really well, better than she did when she had a chest infection, hers lasted for almost 3 weeks and John was only about 2 days away from being completely recovered. The doctor had prescribed some antibiotics and Emily had gotten the fever down, John had stopped coughing due to her whisky, lemon and honey drink and he could breathe properly. Sighing in satisfaction she plopped down on the bench by the window, she looked out at the amazing view from outside, she had started the habit of walking up really early and watched the sunrise it was breath taking but right now it was the afternoon and still everything looked wonderful, Emily felt her phone vibrate in her pocket she quickly glanced at John sleeping before answering.
“Hel-” she started
“I’m still alive you know geez already forgotten about your best friend it’s been 4 days Emily Marie Lovisa!” Talia’s voice cut her off making Emily chuckle.
“I’m sorry Tay but John’s been really sick...” Emily sighed tiredly,
“And you’ve been taking care of him...?” Talia asked slowly.
“Mmm...” Emily replied while leaning on the widow seal,
“Aww, when did you start liking him Emily?” Talia squealed making Emily’s heart stop beating for a second at what Talia just said,
“Huh?”
“You like him Emily, you’ve been taking care of him because you care and you’ve been doing it for what 4 days? That’s really sweet!”
“I-I wait w-what?” Emily stuttered,
“Do you care about him?” Talia prodded.
“Yes” Emily said thoughtfully,
“Do you like taking care of him?”
“Yes...”
“Do you hate seeing him sick?”
“Yea...”
“Then you like him- like him, aww”
“Oh crap Talia what do I do? I can’t you know I’ve only known him for like 7 days! And he doesn’t... Oh my goodness! What have I done?” Emily freaked out, she can’t like him, he doesn’t like her oh god!
“Cool it girly! It’s not the end of the world if you like him.”
“Tay I DO NOT LIKE HIM! You don’t understand he’s in love with his Ex, heck I don’t even know if they’ve broken up!” Emily whispered forcefully making sure John was still asleep, Talia gasped.
“Are you serious?”
“Yes they were or have been together for 2 years and apparently Carrie is everything I am not” Emily said feeling an odd heaviness in her chest but shrugged it off,
“Aw Millie, I’m sure it’s not like that...”
“Yes it is... Tay I’m sorry I have to go,” Emily said lightly, once they hung up Emily thought for a second then opened a text message,
To AG: - “Who is Carrie-Anne Lynn?” she sent the text and got a reply almost immediately,
To EL: - “What did John tell you?”
To AG:- “Nothing much... Gibby should I be worried?”
To EL: - “I think you should Millie, don’t give your heart to him yet he’ll break it...”
To AG: - “Oh okay, I’ll talk to you later love you xx” Emily texted Austin then sighed sadly she still didn’t know why the text Gibby sent her made her so sad. Do I care for John O’Callaghan?

“Millie?” A now familiar masculine voice said, Emily felt a strange tingling as she heard John say her nickname, she lifted her head and made contact with beautiful green eyes,
