Anything for Us

Run away from everything.

“Morning Dakota,” I smiled as he got into Scott’s car.

“Good morning!” he said cheerfully.

I waited a beat for his usual sexual innuendo. Nothing came.

“Are you alright, Angel?” Dakota frowned.

“Uh, yeah. I’m fine,” I said quickly, turning back around in my seat.

Is he alright?

“You’re silly, Angel. We can go, Scott. Hendrix stayed over Joaquin’s apartment last night so he’s getting a ride in from him,” Dakota announced.

Scott just smiled and nodded, before pulling away from the house. I stayed silent the whole ride, nodding and humming if any speech was directed towards me. Something has changed Dakota this weekend. And I want to know what.

All through the day, Dakota didn’t say or do a single sexual thing towards me…or anyone…and it worried me a little. Is something wrong with him? Is he feeling sick? There isn’t a day that goes by where Dakota doesn’t flirt with me or someone else, so for him not to even lean that way at all confuses me a little. What happened to him this weekend? Did he go to an incredibly quick finishing school boot camp or something?

Wait, why am I questioning Dakota not flirting with me? Why am I questioning him not flirting with anyone else? I guess this just seems too good to be true. This behaviour is so unlike Dakota that it’s very strange. Has he suddenly decided to get serious after all? Could this day really have come? Even Yasmin and Zach have noticed that he’s acting different, but I obviously couldn’t give them an answer why because I have no freaking idea myself. What’s gotten into you, Dakota?

“Ready for lunch, Angelcakes?” Dakota grinned.

Rocco coughed.

“Uh, sorry, Angel,” Dakota corrected, his grin not faltering.

I narrowed my eyes at my brother. Does he have something to do with this?

“Yeah, I’m ready. Yasmin and Zach are waiting in there for us,” I nodded.

Dakota grinned a little wider and stuck close to my side as we walked from my locker to the canteen, Rocco on my other side. Now I think about it, Rocco’s been even quieter than usual today too. There’s something going on here…

Wait, are Rocco and Dakota sleeping together?! I thought my brother was straight!

“Looking good, boys,” a cheerleader purred as we walked past.

“Back at you, bellino,” Rocco winked.

Okay, maybe my brother’s still straight. But he’s definitely involved in something with Dakota. My brother’s sneaky, I know he could’ve gone behind my back. What are they up to?

“You’ve got that funny look on your face again, Angel,” Dakota giggled, pushing open the doors to the canteen.

“What look?” I frowned.

“The look you do when you’re thinking too hard about something that doesn’t need to be thought about?” Dakota offered.

He knows. He knows I know that something is different. Huh. Let’s test this.

“Well sweetheart, we’ll just have to see if you can get it off my mind,” I purred.

Dakota’s eyes lit up. Rocco coughed. Dakota’s eyes cleared. I knew it.

“Let’s go eat!” Dakota said cheerfully, tugging me towards our table.

As we walked, I turned my head and narrowed my eyes at my brother, who just innocently shrugged at me. I will figure out what they’re up to, mark my words. Until then, I’m going to bask in this non-flirting Dakota. Who knows when he’ll revert back to his usual self?

Just a short one to show that Dakota is trying but that Angel has noticed for the wrong reasons.
*sigh*
The next one has a little drama with Joaquin!

Just so y'all know, I finished my original slash Save Me (my co-write with Scattered Thoughts), so go read that!
