Nothing but the Truth

The winter when I was eight, my older sister Miranda did the unthinkable and what was left of my family moved to Augusta, Maine to avoid the scandal that had rocked our small town. The fall when I was eleven, I started acting because I was tired of being myself. The summer I was fourteen, I fell for Elias Gonzales. And the spring before I turned sixteen, I had to look everything in my past in the face and see whether it would make me or break me.

My name is Marina Bailey, and this is the completely true account of Humboldt Beach, Mississippi, my sister's suicide, my screwed up family, what happened behind the curtain the year my theater participated in the Hancock County Musical Showcase, and of course, Elias Gonzales.
