“Ten....”

“Lumi,” Simon started. He looked at me straight in the eyes. “Remember what I said to you? How I realized something after things were awkward?”

What..?

“Four...”

“I realized that I liked you. No, I love you Lumi. I still do.”

He...liked me?

“Two...”

He leaned forward.

“One! Happy New Year!”

Our lips met. There was cheering all around us. When we finally pulled away, his eyes were bright.

“I love you.”

We had both said that in unison. We smiled.

Emily was right. All I had to do was shine. I got him. The biggest item item on my wish list—he was mine.

All mine. And I had to do with try.

Wait...

“Um, Simon?” I asked.

“Yeah?”

“Lena told me that Robbie said that you had a Christmas present for me... Not to be greedy or anything, I'm just curious.”

“Oh, yeah, the present!” Simon reached one hand in his pocket. I thought he was going to pull something out, but he didn't.

Instead, he leaned forward and placed another kiss on my lips.

“Merry belated Christmas, Lumi.”
