Thirty-Eight; Where Are You?

Brian

I sat on the park bench as I attempted to avoid Zach and Matt. All they seem to speak about is how there's no way on earth we'll find Darlie now and how I'm just wasting my time even trying. Their negativity is starting to kill me. They can't be positive for not one second without completely changing routes on what they're talking about. Not to mention how they talk about me behind my back.

I sound like a middle school boy who's starting puberty and fears that all of his friends are turning their backs on him. But it's the truth. I caught them speaking about my supposed "undying love" for Darlie a few days ago. Sometimes I wonder if they're on some sort of psycho drug.

My sunglasses covered my face. A girl's eyes met my arms as she walked by in a much too short -but I'm alright with that- dress and a weird hat. She smiled at the man who she didn't even know was really looking at her.

"Hi." I smiled.

"Hello." she whispered. She continued walking as I smiled into the clouds.

Crap. Darlie, that's where my focus needs to be. Darlie is my priority right now. I stood up and walked towards Zach who seemed to be enjoying the swings.

"Hello, Pedobear." I said blankly.

"Oh, look who finally decided to drop by." Matt interrupted, "I think I might know where Darlie is."

"Oh yeah? Speak."

"Well, to be honest, we kinda spoke behind your back."

"No shit."

"Dude, listen. We spoke and she said she didn't want them to find us all together. So she left. But I have a feeling she might be back in America."

"Why there?"

"Because that's the last place they'd expect to find her."

"I never thought about it that way. But what if she isn't? What if she wants us to think that way and then she's somewhere like...like London."

"I don't think she'd go to London. She wouldn't fit in."

"She'd fit in just fine. She fits in everywhere we go."

"Yeah, well I think she's in America." Matt said.

"Where in America?"

"Maybe she went back home."

"We're not going to take any chances. Going there is like walking to our grave. It's better not to."

"Wait," Zach said, "You're the one who wants to find her so desperately. Are you seriously going to give up now?"

"I'm not giving up. I just don't think she's in America."

"How can you be so sure she isn't?"

"How can you be so sure she isn't in London? She knows I probably wouldn't even think about that place."

"Whatever, we can check both."

"I'm not made out of money," I whisper, "Where the heck are you, Darlie?"

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Sorry if caps annoys you. But I will be traveling and won't be back for about a month. I'll update once I'm back in July. Sorry for that. If I get even a bit of internet access where I'm going, I'll try to post at least two chapters. Maybe even at once. SORRY

Thanks again.
