The curse of the high school dance

The first Monday in June seemed to be a normal Monday as Andrea arrived to school. She is popular although she is kind. Andrea is a cheerleader, and president of student council. She knows the rules and always follows them.
That Monday she was eager to get to school, because her senior prom was at the end of the week and she was excited.
The first person she saw was her boyfriend Jeff. They had been going out since 8th grade.
"Hey Andrea," Jeff said to her.
"Hi Jeff, Can't believe it's almost here," she said.
Prom was always a huge tradition for high school seniors, and Andrea and Jeff were no exceptions. As they arrived to first period, the principal made an announcement.
"Good morning students. As you all know prom is coming up and we have huge news. The prom will take place at this fancy hotel, there will be food and a live band, plus all this week you will be voting for prom king and queen."
Andrea was hoping she would get nominated.
"You're nominees for prom queen are: Jessica Parker, Andrea Fitzgerald, Nicole Lee, and Dena Numan."
Andrea was so happy when she found out she was in the running. Her best friend Katie went up to Andrea.
"Girl that was so awesome."
"Thanks," Andrea said.
"You should win since you're popular, friendly and smart," Katie replied.
"Want to help me pick out a dress?" Andrea asked.
"Sure," Katie said.
After there last exam, Katie and Andrea headed to the mall. Both of them couldn't wait for prom to happen.
