Sequel: A Royal for the Crown

Reckless

1: Beginning

“So are we going tonight?” Quinn asked, watching Tovah spin around her bedroom with a glass of wine in her hand

“Of course we are” Tovah smiled stumbling slightly “It will be fun”

“If you say so”

“Oh it will, and who cares if we’re trashed when we get there; these events are always uptight and British. We have to do something to keep ourselves from wanting to dig our eyes out” Tovah shimmied out of her robe and stepped into her beautiful white Grecian gown.

“Oh boy” Quinn rolled her eyes and took a sip of her own wine before walking back across the hall to her room and sitting down to finish her make up. “Someday someone is going to accuse you of a drinking problem” she yelled

“I don’t care what people think about me, so they can talk all they want; try living my life for a week and it will drive anyone to the sauce” Tovah carefully rolled her white blonde hair into hot rollers

“Are you sure this has nothing to do with-“

“No, Quinnavere it doesn’t; it has everything to do with our ridiculous uncle up my rear constantly. I just want to have fun while I can. I’m only 23 for Christ’s sake”

Quinn sighed and ran her straightener through her blonde hair, and tugged her black dress over her body. Tovah applied her make-up and thought about the event they were attending; it was nothing too formal, just a get together for one of Prince William’s charities and Tovah was going to represent the Swedish royal family. Quinn (more formally known as Quinnavere), her younger sister, was going simply as moral support. They lived together in London while both girls attended Univeristy -and also to get out of Sweden while they still could.

“Are you ready?” Tovah sang across the hallway to Quinn

“I am if you are”

“The car is here, so let’s go” Tovah picked up her Alexander McQueen clutch and put her flask, wallet, and cellphone into it before meeting Quinn downstairs. The girls went outside in an abundance of flashes as the press swarmed the gates at the end of their flat in attempts to get the first photos of the night of the Swedish Princesses.

“Paul isn’t going to be there is he?” Quinn asked defensively

“No, William knows that he and I didn’t end on good terms, he would never invite him to anything I was going to be attending” Tovah replied. As their car pulled out of the drive, she felt her phone vibrate

“Who is it?” Quinn asked

“Harry” Tovah read the text and deleted it before putting her cellphone back into her clutch

“And?”

“He asked if I was on my way” she shrugged “He can find when I get there if I arrive or don’t arrive. It’s none of his business if I do or don’t” Tovah smirked to herself

“You’ve put that poor guy through hell you know that?” Quinn rolled her eyes and applied lip gloss to her already pouty mouth

“I have not. We simply grew apart. We’re not in grade school anymore, and our families aren’t as close either. It’s no one’s fault”

“Whatever you say Tov” Quinn smiled at her sister

Tovah bit her lip and took out her flask and took a quick drink, offering it to her sister who turned it down. Suit yourself, she thought before taking another drink and popping a piece of gum into her mouth just as their car pulled up in front of St. James’ palace.

The girls stepped out as their doors were opened and posed for the few camera allowed inside the palace grounds to take photos of those who arrived. They walked in and handed their coats to the man working the check and headed towards the ballroom where dinner was being held.

“We’re at table 4” Quinn read off their invitation, as they made their way over towards their seats.

“I wonder who else we’re sitting with?” Tovah wondered aloud, reaching for two glasses of champagne when the server walked by; handing one to Quinn

“Looks like we’re about to find out; and you’re going to love this” Quinn whispered in Swedish looking over Tovah’s shoulder as she took a sip of her champagne

“Hello Quinn, Tovah” Harry’s deep voice came from behind Tovah, sending shivers up her spine

“Hello Harry” Quinn stepped around her sister and hugged him, kissing him on each cheek, “How are you?”

“Wonderful. How’s university?” Harry asked, but while Quinn responded Tovah could feel Harry’s eyes burning holes in the back of her skull. She finished her champagne and turned around

“Hello Harry” Tovah smiled politely

“Tovah” he nodded, “looks like we’re sitting together”

I wonder who made that happen, Tovah thought to herself; “It appears so”

“Would you like another drink?” Harry offered

“Please, thank you” Tovah responded and Harry nodded before heading off to find a server. When he was out of ear shot Quinn turned to her sister

“Well that wasn’t awkward as hell” she said in Swedish

“Oh don’t be dramatic. We’ll be fine” Tovah snapped back, as she took her seat. Quinn sat down on her right, and kept staring at Tovah

“What?” she hissed

“nothing” Quinn said as Harry returned, skillfully carrying three glasses of champagne in his hands. He handed them to the girls and then sat down on Tovah’s other side.

“Did you get a new number?” Harry asked curiously while they ate their dinner

“Nope” Tovah replied

“Oh” Harry took a bite of his chicken slowly, “I’ve been trying to get ahold of you for a while”

“Have you?” Tovah asked in pretend shock, to which she received a glare from Quinn out of the corner of her eye

“Yea; it always just goes to voicemail and since I don’t get any responses, I figured you must have changed your number again” Harry looked at her

“Well, I haven’t received any calls or texts from you,” Tovah said; Quinn choked on the drink she just took, and Tovah kicked her under the table “I guess I need to get my phone looked at. Who knows what else I could be missing!”

“Are you alright?” Harry asked Quinn who was still coughing

“I’m fine; I am just going to go find the loo” she responded before standing up and heading towards the exit

“She’s going to be okay right?” Harry asked concerned, his body following Quinn as she practically ran out of the room

“Yea she’ll be fine; must have just took some champagne down the wrong pipe” Tovah shrugged

Harry nodded, and the two of them sat in silence for a few minutes while the rest of the guests began mingling.

“Do you want to go for a walk?” He asked

Tovah hesitated, before nodding and Harry pulled her chair out and offered her his arm. Tovah smiled and slipped her left arm through his, and he lead them out of the ballroom and out into one of the back balconies that overlooked the gardens.

“I love this garden” Tovah sighed

“If you came here to visit me more you could see it as often as you would like” Harry teased her

“I’m a busy girl Harry; you yourself have plenty of obligations to attend to” Tovah set her clutch down on the patio table next to them and looked out over the balcony. “Are you still with Marily?” Tovah asked

Harry nodded his head a few inches

“That’s wonderful” Tovah smiled at him, and bit the inside of her cheek

“She’s a great girl”

“No need to justify her to me” Tovah turned around and leaned her rear against the railing. She opened her clutch and took out her flask, taking a long drink. “Want a sip?” she held it out to Harry

“You’re always drinking” Harry rolled his eyes and turned down her offer

“Not always; don’t make me out to be worse than I am” Tovah replied defensively. She hated that everyone else could say things like that to her, but when Harry said it, it struck a cord

“You need to learn to deal with your problems in a healthy way”

“Don’t presume to understand what my problems are. You have no idea who I’ve got constantly on my back Harry”

“You act like such a child sometimes” Harry said

“Might as well act my age while I can” Tovah replied

“You’re going to be the next Queen of Sweden, you’d think you’d start behaving responsibly”

Tovah narrowed her eyes at Harry “the party prince of England is going to judge me?”

“Someone has to” Harry snapped

Tovah scuffed and held her manicured hand up in Harry’s face “I am not listening to you tell me anything about proper behavior”

Harry grabbed her hand and Tovah tried pulling away from him, but Harry held onto it tighter as she started to walk away, whipping her back towards him; her face inches from his

“You know I like it rough Harry” she teased him, licking her lips sensually; daring him to make a move. A growl came from Harry’s throat as he tilted his head his nose touching hers

“Woah, hello!” Williams voice came from the doorway, as he caught the two of them, “Sorry to interrupt” he smirked; used to catching the two of them in compromising positions

“I have to go” Tovah whispered to Harry, and he dropped her hand. Tovah smiled up at him and picked up her clutch before walking back through the balcony doors, hugging Will goodbye. She looked back at Harry for a second before disappearing.
