Once Upon A Time

October 25th, 2010

It was a typical Monday for Kasey, and of course she was at the park with Ryan and Amelya. She was feeling rather down today though, and it wasn’t exactly something the kids could help her recuperate from. She hadn’t talked to Jon in almost a day, Jade was still mad at her, and Daniel was being a jerk, as usual. Nothing was helping. Not even a big bear hug from Ryan and Amelya. It especially hurt today because for the past few Mondays, Jon came and sat with her at the park while the kids played. So far Jon was nowhere in sight.

She sighed and kept hammering out words for a new report she had to write. Her journalism professor was less than thrilled with her last report, and she needed to get at least a B on this one to bring her grade up to a C-. She was stressed out with her school work, her social life, her relationship, and her money, basically everything you could think of.

Her paper was on the political aspect of the influence on blah blah blah. Frankly she didn’t even know what it was about anymore. She was having huge writer’s block and getting insanely frustrated with herself. Another bullshit paper, another bullshit grade. At this point she was ready to tear her hair out from the frustration.

“Aargh!” Kasey growled loudly and threw her notebook on the ground in front of her and put her head in her hands. She started to feel tears in her eyes but held them back for the sake of keeping her composure in public.

“You alright, Kase?” She heard a familiar voice ask from above her.

She just shook her head in her hands and took a deep breath, still not ready to show her face. She felt the bench shift only slightly under the weight of the 210 pound man. A few moments later she felt his hand on her back and the instant sensation of relaxation and relief flooded her body. Jon wasn’t mad at her, he showed up. There’s one less thing to stress about.

“Wanna talk about it?” Jon inquired as Kasey sat up and let out a deep breath.

“You don’t wanna hear my problems, Jonathan.” She smiled, only slightly joking with him.

“If it’ll make you feel better I do.” Jon grinned back, looking at her and studying her.

She was rocking the librarian look with her rarely seen glasses and simple eye make-up. Her hair was pulled back in a short French braid with a mess of bobby pins to keep it intact in the back. She wore a light grey knitted sweater that had a big collar and a tie around the middle with black yoga pants and boots on her bottom half. She definitely looked like a journalism student, and to Jon it was sexy as hell.

Jon was wearing what he’d changed into after practice that morning. His signature navy blue hat with the white embroidery on the front, a blue faded v-neck t-shirt that hugged his muscles and over that a light cardigan for the breezy October day.

“I don’t know. Just a lot of stress lately. Things aren’t going exactly as planned, ya know?” Kasey confided in Jon.

“Are things okay with Daniel?” He asked a little begrudgingly with a hardly noticeable scowl on his face.

“Are things ever okay with Daniel? I don’t think I should keep it up with him anymore. I think the next time he comes to visit I’ll break it off. He’s just not worth the trouble anymore.” Kasey admitted for the first time. Jon felt his heart jump with joy and a lurch in his stomach telling him this could be his chance. If he doesn’t blow it, that is.

“When is he coming to visit?” He asked, hoping it was soon.

“Middle of November I think. Maybe for thanksgiving, I’m not sure I haven’t talked to him in a week.” Kasey answered and finally allowed herself to look at Jon.

She stared at him for a moment, taking in his radiance. She scanned up and down his body subtly, but stopped when she saw a mark on his neck. Feeling slightly defeated, she had to ask, “Where’d that come from?” and pointed to his neck toward the ever present hickey near his masculine jaw line.

He stuttered a moment before finally answering in a joking tone with, “You should have come with me last night, maybe I could have controlled myself better knowing there was a respectable lady around.”

Kasey just shook her head and laughed, though she couldn’t hide the knot in her stomach that came with the realization of the fact that Jon was a play boy, like every other guy she’d come across. She knew Jon only wanted sex and it was just a matter of time until he realized he wasn’t going to get it from her.

“What are you doing tonight?” Jon asked after a moment of silence.

“Uh, probably write my paper, why?” Kasey responded and held up the notebook Jon handed her.

“Oh, well I was hoping that maybe you could come over and watch a movie with me? Maybe after your paper is done.” Jon suggested with a smile.

“Okay, I think I could do that. “ Kasey grinned. She knew she shouldn’t be making plans when she had a major paper due the next day and she hadn’t even finished the first paragraph yet.

“Great, so should we say nine-ish?” Jon offered, “Do you think you’ll be done with your paper by then?”

“Probably not but it’s whatever. I’ll still have tomorrow morning to do it.” Kasey said and put her notebook in her backpack figuring it was time to get the kids back home and make them a snack before their parents came home.

“Great, so I’ll see you later then.” Jon beamed before he stood up to jog back to his apartment.

“See you later then.” Kasey responded and gave a small wave goodbye before calling for the kids.

“Sorry I’m a little late. I was on a roll with my paper.” Kasey stated as Jon let her into his apartment.

“No problem.” Jon said and smiled.

He shut the door and leaned up against it for a second as he studied what Kasey was wearing. Her hair was out of its braid and messy, she still had her glasses on with her make-up, now smudged, under it. She had on baggy sweats, which looked like they belonged to Daniel, and a cut out tank top that obviously used to be a t-shirt. Over her t-shirt she wore an unzipped faded teal sweatshirt that brought out her eyes. She couldn’t look more frumpy if she tried, but to Jon she looked just as beautiful as when she was all done up. It was a huge turn on for him, and he couldn’t figure out why. Maybe it was the desire to feel her body against his. Maybe it was the fact that the entire time he was fucking that girl last night, he imagined it was her. And maybe he was just tired of pretending anymore.

“…What do you think?” Kasey questioned Jon, though he didn’t catch the first half because he was so lost in his thoughts.

“I’m sorry, could you repeat that?” He asked after he shook himself out of his trance.

“I said, should we watch The Longest Yard, or 2012?” Kasey repeated and smirked as she slid her sweatshirt off and hung it on the back of one of Jon’s dining chairs.

“2012.” Jon responded and went to set up the TV for their movie night while Kasey popped some corn over the stove and got a couple wine glasses.

Halfway through the movie and two bottles of wine later, Kasey and Jon found themselves giggling at the flaws in the movie. Jon had just made a comment on how it was most likely impossible for someone to survive falling out of a plane in a sports car in a snowy mountainous space, let alone drive said sports car in the snow. That had Kasey rolling around gasping for air on the couch. She finally fell into Jon and laughed into him for a moment while clutching her stomach and looked up to see his eyebrows arched in an unimpressed expression, which only made her laugh harder, him along with her. He knew it was the alcohol doing it to her, but he couldn’t help but want to take advantage of the moment and just kiss her.

So he did. As soon as she’d calmed enough, he looked down to find her curled up into his side. He casually put his arm around her, making her scoot closer to him to get comfortable. He waited a good twenty minutes, and for a particularly boring part before he made a move. He looked toward her to find she was glued to the screen, her eyes wide and taking in everything she saw. He took the hand that wasn’t currently embracing her and brushed her hair out of her face then used it to tilt her chin upward.

“Jon, what are you-”

She was cut off by his mouth on hers. She was shocked to say the least, but didn’t resist. Her inhibition was clouded by alcohol and the taste of his lips. She slightly leaned into him more and deepened the kiss willingly, her hands wrapped around the back of his neck and she tugged on the short tufts of hair. He ran his tongue over her bottom lip, and she obliged to his wishes to let him in. Their tongues danced together for a long while before she tilted her head slightly and came up for air, biting his bottom lip as she slowed. It only took a moment before it started again and he leaned her backward onto the couch and put his weight on her, and that’s when she knew it was wrong. But she couldn’t stop. She was hooked, hooked on his taste, his smell, his touch.

She finally snapped out of it when he shifted and she felt his hard on rub against her thigh that she realized what was going on. She gasped into his mouth, so he moved to her neck, sucking and biting while she caught her breath. She wasn’t sure how to ask him to stop politely, she wasn’t even sure if she wanted him to. But then, images of Daniel slapping her went through her mind and she knew if her just yelling made him do that, then something like this would definitely earn her a lot worse. That thought alone almost made her ask Jon to keep going, so Daniel could dump her, but she knew he wouldn’t. She knew he’d just hold it against her, hurt her emotionally, maybe physically. She wasn’t sure but she knew this had to stop before Jon got carried away.

“Jon… Not now… Jon this isn’t right.” She breathed out and pushed his shoulders away from her body.

“Why, what’s wrong? Am I hurting you?” He asked worried he might be squashing her.

“No, Jon it’s amazing, you’re amazing. But I have Daniel. And he’d kill me if he knew I’d even thought about doing this with someone else.” Kasey admitted begrudgingly. Everything felt so right with Jon, so why was it so wrong?

“Oh… right. I’m sorry, Kasey. I just couldn’t help it, you’re just so…”

“Easy?” she tried finishing for him, of course a smirk on her face.

“Perfect.” He corrected, a grin plastered across his face while his hand gently caressed her cheek.

“Jonathan, I’m anything but perfect.”
