Cold As You.

You never did give a damn thing, honey.

I decided to stand at the merch table during the show instead of on the side of the stage like normal. Clearly, it was obvious why.

"Ok, so, this next song is to Cassie because she's not having a good day and this song reminds me of her because it literally happens everyday. In fact, she was probably half the inspiration." John said into the microphone.

"Did you like that Cass? I didn't call you Pat's sister." He added and I chuckled as the song started. John could always make me smile.

I couldn't help but sing along with the song and I tried not to look at Kennedy like I wanted to.

"Yeah you were dancing to your favorite song told my friends and they were singing along..." John sang as he moved around on the stage. Kennedy didn't seem as into it as he normally did and although I shouldn't, I felt exceptionally bad. Like it was my fault he was. Then again, it probably was...

After the show I handed out merch as the guys signed it which took almost three hours. Not that I minded, it was a good distraction.

"John, if another girl ask me if we're together I'll stab you." I said as we all began placing the merch back in boxes.

He chuckled, "Oh come on, it could be worse!"

"It will be when one of them attacks me."

Garrett laughed, "Surely no one would do that over John."

"Just you huh, Gar?" Jared joked and Garrett rolled his eyes.

Kennedy was quiet like never before. He didn't even smile as the others joked around. He just placed the boxes in the other van and got in without a word.

I looked over at John who watched me. He gave me a shrug and I sighed. I shouldn't feel bad. He should! I breathed in before climbing into the van and forcing myself to sit next to Kennedy.

It was almost 1 in the morning so everyone wasn't in the mood to talk and since Garrett was driving, Ryan Adams was playing softly from the stereo causing half of them to fall asleep instantly.

"I'm not drinking anymore." Kennedy said out of the blue and I just stared at him, "Ok."

He nodded before pulling his ipod out of his pocket and I watched him as he put his earphones in and looked back out the window.

"Oh come on Cass. Give him a break." John said startling me.

"Jeez. I thought you were asleep." I said turning in my seat.

"I almost was then I heard him speak so I had to listen."

"Oh of course."

He grinned, "Now I shall sleep."

I rolled my eyes and turned back in my seat. I glanced at Kennedy who was mouthing a song and his head was now leaned against the window.

I sighed and reached out wrapping my arms around his an pressed my face into the sleeve of one of his stupid plaid shirts he loved.

It was irrational yet comforting all at the same time.

I knew he was looking at me simply from the way he moved and I breathed in his scent as I tried to figure out what to say to him. Before I could, he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his lap. I looked at him as he removed one of his earphones and gave me a soft grin before handing it to me.

I placed it in my ear and laid my head on his chest, a smile hitting my lips once I realized it was Mayday Parade.

"But if there's one real thing that you choose to believe, just don't lose your faith in me." He sang softly and in all honesty I would rather listen to him sing over this, so I took out the earbud and closed my eyes as he continued singing causing me to fall asleep.

"I'm rootin' for you man, I am. But god help you if she forgave you and you hurt her again. You aren't going to find anyone better than her Kennedy and I hope you realize what you have." I heard John say as I woke up still on Kennedy.

"I'm not stupid." Kennedy grumbled.

"Really?"

"Shut up. I really didn't mean to hurt her. Plus, it's not like I cheated on her." He responded.

"I know, but still..."

"I've decided to cool it on the drinking just to prove a point."

"Good idea. Hey Gar, want to stop and let me drive? We have two more hours." John called out and Kennedy shushed him.

"Yeah man my eyes are barely open now."

"That's comforting!" John said and I could feel Kennedy laugh, which caused me to stir. His arms lightened around me and I forced myself to sit up. A grin hit his lips as I ran my hand through my hair.

"Hey you." He whispered.

"You know, you could have told me to move."

"No, you're fine. I know the effect of mayday."

"Actually, I was listening to you sing mayday." I said chuckling.

"Oh. Sorry."

"For what? I think you sing good."

His cheeks turned a bit red and he shrugged.

"I mean, if I didn't think so I'd just never mention it."

He chuckled, "Well thanks, Cassie."

I gave him a grin as the van came to a stop.

"Will you go in the gas station with me?" I asked and he quickly nodded.

We both got out as Garrett and John switched places and Jared headed to the bathroom. Thankfully Pat was asleep.

"Do you want anything Gar bear?" I asked and he gave me a sleepy grin, "No just sleep."

"Well since you're asking I'll take a pepsi and I'm starving my ass off." John said and I chuckled, "Ok gotcha."

"Love you CK." He said using my intials and I rolled my
eyes as I headed into the store with Kennedy. We worked in silence as we got drinks and snacks for everyone. Once everything was on the register I began digging in my bag for my card.

"You've lost your mind." Kennedy said pushing me aside lightly.

"Why?"

"I'm not letting you pay for all our shit."

"Why? You guys pay for mine."

"You're one person we are four. There is a difference." He said handing the guy his card.

"Plus, let's say, hypathetically speaking, if this ever became more, do you think I'd make you pay for stuff? No." He said grabbing our bags and I immediately began to blush from his comment.

We got back in the van to everyone now rearranged and Garrett was already passed out.

"I miss home." I said randomly as I leaned against Kennedy.

"Only a few more shows. Ready for Christmas?" He asked and I nodded, "I'm smart unlike John and did all my shopping before this started."

He laughed, "Me too actually."

"That doesn't surprise me."

"And why do you say that Miss Kirch?"

"Because you're an overly organized person."

"Maybe." He responded with a smile causing my eyes to go to his lips. For some reason a lot of the time I was around him I found myself wanting to kiss him. Just certain things he did caused my thoughts to instantly go there.

But instead of doing so, I bit my lip and looked away from him.

"Cassie." He said causing my eyes to instantly look back at him. He leaned in and kissed me softly causing my heart to race.

He quickly pulled me closer and onto his lap as his lips never left mine.

"You two are lucky Pat is dead to the world." John said from the front which we ignored. Kennedy ran his hand into my hair as our lips now moved in sync. I straddled his waist and his hand ran up under the side of my shirt.

Once his tongue entered my mouth I realized we were kissing too heavily to be in a van with his friends and my brother.

"Look, I'm all for making out, but I'll have to yell for Pat if clothes start coming off." John said and I couldn't help but laugh as Kennedy smiled.

"Don't worry." Kennedy said to him as his hand grazed my cheek. I stared at him as we both breathed heavily, trying to calm ourselves.

"She's a good girl." He whispered against my lips before kissing me quickly.

"You're right."

"I like that."

"Call it self respect." I said shrugging.

He chuckled, "Whatever it is. I like it."

I grinned and he kissed me passionately causing me to melt almost instantly.

"You're so fucking beautiful, Cassie." He whispered, "I mean that. Everything about you amazes me."

"You're funny."

"It's the truth. To me it is anyway." He said rubbing my side and I couldn't help but kiss him. Maybe it was my down fall or Kennedy's gift, but he always said the right things.

"Ok. We will definitely make out when we get to where we are going. I keep thinking your brother is going to wake up and murder me." He said laughing causing me to snicker, "Yeah I don't want you to die."

"Thanks sweetie."

I placed kisses down his face and a grin hit his lips, "so, I know when we get back home it'll be a few days shy of Christmas, but I was wondering if I could take you out."

"Like, on a date?" I asked.

"No just outside." He joked and I rolled my eyes causing him to laugh, "Yes on a date. Me and you. If you want to."

I nodded and he smiled, "Yeah?"

"Of course."

"Good." He whispered kissing my forehead.

We ended up staying up the rest of the drive talking. It wasn't that odd since we both rarely slept at night and we always had a lot to talk about which was one of the things I loved about him. Then again, was there something I didn't?

"...And then remember he fell into the pool which just made him angrier!" Kennedy said as we both laughed hysterically from the backseat.

"It's 5 in the morning. What is so fucking funny?" Garrett groaned as we arrived at the hotel.

"I haven't been able to sleep because of them." Jared stated.

"Actually it kept me up so I'm grateful this time." John said chuckling as he turned the car off.

"Patty wake up." I said shaking the boy in the passenger seat and he groaned, "No."

"You want to sleep in a bed?"

He opened his eyes and I chuckled, "Come on."

They all got out slowly but surely and we didn't bother to grab our things this time. We got a few keys and I traded with John once Pat was out of view so I could room with Kennedy.

"Sneaky." Kennedy joked sliding his hand in mine as I laughed, "Yeah well, I like to keep the peace."

He smiled as he unlocked our door and pulled me in.

Once the door shut his lips were on mine.

"I mean, have you ever made out with someone at 5 in the morning?" He joked pulling me to the bed.

"No. But you can be the first."

"You're my first too." He said with a wink causing me to laugh.

I fell onto the bed with him and we both laughed over nothing really, probably just from lack of sleep.

"Why does everything seem so much easier at night?" He asked hovering over me, his fingers messing with my hair.

"What do you mean?"

"I don't know it seems so simple now, but will it be when the sun comes up?" He asked and I grinned, "If you want it to be it will."

"I guess. I'd just rather this night not end." He whispered pecking my lips.

"And why is that?"

"Because, I've had a good night with you."

I smiled at him and he laid beside me wrapping his arms around me as he did so.

"Well, I'm sure we can have more than one good night."

"Hopefully." He whispered tracing patterns onto my arm and before I knew it I fell asleep. Hopefully he was right...

Of course she forgave him, she's too consumed by him. Tisk, tisk.

I wish this is where I could say they lived happily ever after, but we both know that isn't how it works. ;)
