(Not So) Planned Parenthood

One.

I glanced over at Catt, who sat in the chair by the wall with a smile. She’d won, by getting me to come to the doctor. You see, me and Jordan had been dating for 4 years, and I thought I was pregnant, so she made me come to the doctor after a home test came back positive.

“Catt, What am I going to do if I am? How do I tell Jordan” I said.

“Well it’s almost Christmas, buy like “What to Expect Why You’re Expecting” and give it to him with the home test.” She said. I frowned. Don’t get me wrong, I loved kids, but I was only twenty-one. I wasn’t ready yet. Jordan was always on tour, so he wouldn’t be around a lot. There was no way in hell I was raising a baby in NYC.

“And when it’s born? There’s no way I’m raising a baby in New York, at least not when Jordan’s gone” I said.

“You’ll come to Dallas and stay with me and Kyle.” She said. Oh yes, Kyle Burns, drummer in Forever The Sickest Kids, the reason I met Catt in the first place, during the “The Rise and Fall of My Pants Tour” which Jordan was on. I had flown out to see Jordan on his birthday, quite possibly the night this maybe-baby was conceived. I smiled slightly but the doctor came in before I could reply.

“So Ms. Arterburn, it looks like you’re expecting. I’d say you’re around 6 weeks. That’ll make you due in August.” He said. I couldn’t help but smile before thanking him and leaving with Catt. I texted his sister who had been texting me all morning.

Hey guess what? You’re gonna be Aunt Alex :)

What?!?! When did this happen? Does my brother know yet?

November 14th and no, he does not. I just found out. Ha, he’ll find out for Christmas. Don’t tell anyone, bye :)

“Let’s go to the book store, we need to educate you in being pregnant.” She said.

“Okay.” I said, so she drove us to the bookstore and groaned when she saw Jordan’s car there.

“I forgot he had a signing here today!” she said.

“Ha, it’s okay. We’ll lie and say it’s for Jess.” I said. Jess was my older sister and I loved her dearly. Catt giggled and I got out and walked towards the store. She followed me closely and we managed to get to the baby book section without being spotted by Jordan, or so I thought. Catt was looking through a bunch of pregnancy diet books when arms snaked around me.

“Excuse me, Ma’am, but is a certain reason you’re in this section of the bookstore?” Jordan voice said in my ear, like the creep he was. I turned around to face him and kissed him deeply.

“Well, me and Catt are trying to slim down for my sister’s wedding and a pregnant woman’s diet is supposed to be really healthy, so we thought we’d try there first” I said.

“Well then, the signings done, so before Catt decides on what one you’re doing, I’m taking you to lunch. Catt, I’m stealing my girlfriend” he said. And pulled me out of the row before going to grab his stuff from the front. A girl with a copy of my first book spotted us and came over.

“You’re Tori Arterburn, right. I loved your Warped Tour diaries. Hey, will you sign this?” she said. I nodded and signed it before Jordan pulled me out to the car.

Two weeks passed by quickly and I found myself in the kitchen on Christmas Eve with Jordan cooking for tomorrow. He was listening to “Self-Centered” by Nathan Ryan that he had bought on iTunes after he became good friends with Nate on warped. The song was “All Girls Are Freaks” and I couldn’t help but laugh as Jordan danced around the kitchen singing it. I heard the doorbell ring and went to get it. I found our families standing in front of me.

“Jordan!” I said, getting his attention. He shut the iHome off and walked to the door.

“What are you guys doing here?” he said.

“Well we thought that if you couldn’t make it home for Christmas, we’d come to you. Now are you gonna let us in or make us freeze?” Alex said. We moved for them to come in and they all found seats in the living room.

“I think Tori should give Jordan her present tonight!” Jess said, glancing at me.

“Ha-ha. Okay. I’ll be right back. Let me go get it from the hiding place” I said. I got up and walked to the bedroom and grabbed the two gifts. I walked back into the living room and sat down in front of Jordan.

“There’s a certain way you have to open these, Jordan” Alex told her brother.

“There is?” he said.

“Yes. You have to open the big one first.” I said. “and this was Catt’s idea” . He glanced up at my best friend who was sitting quietly. She just smiled at him and he grabbed the wrapped “What to expect when you’re expecting” book. He looked up at me, confused after he’d opened it.
“What?” he said.

“Open the other part, you’ll understand” I said. He did as told and found the clearblue digital pregnancy test staring at him with the word “pregnant”.

“What? He said, again. “Are you serious?”

“Jordan, I would joke with you about something like this?” I said. He leaned up and pressed a kiss to my lips.

“Oh my god. We’re having a baby” he said.
