Opportunities
Gabriel's home
The werewolf smiled at me, "Hello young one."
I smiled back, "It's good to see you Rena. What are you doing here though?"
Her smile turned sad, "I would like to give you a once in a life time opportunity."
I nodded slowly, "How so?"
"I would like to bring you back to my pack so you can better learn how to use your werewolf abilities."
I was confused, "What do you mean?"
Rena shrugged, "You would come with me back to my wolf pack, stay with us for a few weeks and learn more about us."
I smiled, "I would like that," I'd be able to spend more time with the woman who had been more of a mother to me than my real one, "I would like that a lot."
Rena smiled as well, "I'll be back tonight so you can say your good-byes."
I waved as she left the hut and then walked outside to find Gabriel sitting on the pile of logs beside the house, "What did she want?" As I told him I saw his jaw harden, "Are you sure about this? Daniel, Resa and I wouldn’t be able to come with you, plus how to know Rena can be trusted?"
I shrugged, "It's just a feeling. And it would only be for a few weeks plus I need to know how to properly control myself. It'll be nice to learn more about myself through learning about others."
Gabriel sighed and kissed me before pulling me into a tight hug, "I'm going to miss you."
I held onto him tightly, "It'll only be for a few weeks. It's not like I'm going away forever."
I heard footsteps coming from down the trail, "No PDA's unless your at least two hundred."
I sighed as I let go of Gabriel and raised an eyebrow at Daniel, "Coming from the one who was saying they weren't old."
He just shrugged, "Age has its perks. Now what was the werewolf doing here?"
I sensed some unresolved anger in that statement and raised my eyebrow further, "You worked with Rena so shouldn’t you be friends and wanted to know whether I wanted to come with her to her pack."
He seemed shocked, "You didn’t say yes did you? They're savages! The leader of the pack is chosen by fighting and… Gabriel help me out here!"
Gabriel put his arms around my shoulders and pulled me in close, "She can look after herself and it would be a good opportunity. Resa, what do you think?"
Resa put her hand up to her chin as she thought, "The werewolves are dangerous… But they are very welcoming of their own and having the blood of their leader pumping through you would definitely make you one of them. Regardless of your other heritage. But just remember not to trust them entirely, you still part vampire so they will be naturally suspicious."
I smiled at the three, "I'm going regardless of your opinions but it means a lot to me to know that you trust me to look after myself." I looked pointedly at Daniel as I said this and he sighed before looking away without saying anything. For the next few hours as I waited for sunset I readied myself for the wolf pack. I packed my things (making sure to remember the stone) and exercised my abilities.
First by shifting while in different situations such as; running, jumping, in trees and while swimming. Then by only changing parts of myself like only having wolf; eyes, eyes, nose, claws and fur. Only partially changing was quite difficult as my vampire fangs would then try to come out. As if my body had grown used to my hybrid form so much that it preferred it over anything.
The sun finally started going down and I walked back to the hut to find Daniel was sitting where Gabriel had been and he was frowning, "I don’t like this. Werewolves are bad news."
I raised an eyebrow and pointed to myself as I spoke, "I'm a werewolf."
It was Daniel's turn to raise an eyebrow, "You're also part vampire, demon and angel. You're not just one thing."
I shrugged and folded my arms, "I'm cool with being a hybrid, what do you have against werewolves though?"
Daniel closed his eyes and when he opened them they were the bright green of a wolves. As he did so he showed me four, faded parallel scratches on his upper arm, "I was attacked but my angel blood stopped me from truly becoming one. All I was cursed with is the eyes of a wolf but as time goes on and these scars fade so does that."
I nodded slowly, "So you let one attack colour your entire opinion about a species, that's very close-minded even for you."
He shrugged, "I just don’t want you to get hurt."
I smiled and hugged Daniel, "I'll be fine."
I heard someone clear their throat and I blushed slightly when I saw Gabriel with an eyebrow raised, "Hope I haven't interrupted anything."
I blushed even brighter as I let go of Daniel and walked over to Gabriel, "I was just giving him a hug goodbye." I smiled at Gabriel and kissed him deeply before partially drawing back and speaking against his lips, "There is no reason to be jealous."
I drew back when I smelt werewolf and I heard Rena speak, "Are you ready my dear?"
I smiled up at her and grabbed my bag before walked up to her, "I'm ready." Rena smiled and shifted, I followed behind her as we ran. I occasionally heard her urge me on but as I was unable to speak while in wolf form I just kept running, I hoped that was something I would learn how to do as it was irritating being mute. After several hours we arrived at a large camp, we shifted back and I kept close to Rena.
All eyes were on me and I tried to look confident and strong. Rena spoke to one of the wolves and they nodded, I hoped this meant I would be accepted. I felt a strong pair of arms wrap around me and a bag was shoved over my head. I kicked out and I felt my foot hit something hard and heard someone groan but still they tightened their grip on me. There must have been something in the bag because I was becoming very drowsy and I couldn’t shift into any of my forms. As the pain of being crushed became too much I gave in to the strange substance and fell into oblivion.
