Love is a Luxury

I grew up with music around me constantly. My brother played guitar, my best friend could sing better than anyone I knew, the only girl I trusted played bass amazingly, and I was told my drumming skills could beat anyone’s any day.

Music was like the air I breathed. If I wasn’t playing drums, or practicing the songs the band had written with them, I had either my stereo on, or my iPod blaring.

Serena, the bassist of our band, and I were heading home from our last day of senior year. She was driving, while I was in the passenger seat with my feet propped up on the glove compartment.

My cell phone buzzed from the dash of her Ford Taurus, indicating I had a text message, where I would read the four words my brother sent that would change my life. We’re going on tour.
