A Witch's Curse

As a witch I was taught never to cross a line when it came to magic. My grandparents were unyielding in this because their daughter--my mother--had stepped over the line and lost herself, becoming a slave to her magic. But even with a childhood full of warnings and reminders magic is like the song of a siren--impossible to ignore--and I began to toe the line.

Then I crossed it.

That day I finally understood the warnings of my childhood, and I vowed to never use magic again. I was stupid to believe that by making this promise I had paid my debt for the evil we created that day. The murder of my grandfather leaves me with a curse that forces me back into the world of magic--a world I had thought I cut ties with.

Now I must face the past I've tried so hard to outrun before the past repeats itself. I won't run away anymore--not from my magic, not from my demons, and most certainly not from him.
