Always A Day Too Late

LynnZ, Taylor, and Niki had always been best friends since they were in diapers. Then when Rhian moved to Huntington Beach from England in 9th grade she immediately became part of their group, as if she’d been friends with them all their lives. Also there was Tam, who was still part of the group but couldn’t compare to the 4 of them. Now Taylor, Rhian, Niki, and Tam were all Seniors while LynnZ was still a Junior. Those 4 ruled the school and everyone knew not to mess with them.

As Taylor, Niki and I walked down the hallway heading to our table outside for lunch, talking about tonight’s plans, some blonde cheerleader kept sending me dirty looks.

“You better look somewhere else before I punch that condescending look off your face!!” I yelled at her. True I didn’t know what I was talking about, but it still confused her, and she stormed off in the other direction. Taylor looked at me,

“Do you even know what your talking about?” They started laughing and so did I,

“No, but it worked didn’t it?” That was just like me always trying to get a laugh didn’t matter what I had to do to get it.

We started walking to our table where Tam and Zacky were flirting. I rolled my eyes, we all knew they should be dating, but Zacky was too much of a dork to ask her.

“Your a dork!” I heard Tam laugh at him as we got to the table to sit down. See! That proves it.

“Of course he is, but you still love him.” I say as I hug him from behind and wink at her. I laugh as I see her cheeks go bright red. It takes Zacky a second to catch on and I hear

“Hey! I am not a dork!” then laughing. As I sit down I see Jimmy walking over. He sits down next to Rhian, they’ve been dating since a week after she moved here...yea they work fast.

“Hey babe.” Jimmy says as he kisses her.

“Hey what’s up?” They go off into their own little conversation as I see Brian come up and sit next to Niki. I laugh as she pushes him

“Stay away from me! I’m mad at you!” she screams at him.

“Aww Niki, no sex last night?” I grin at her as she shoots me a playful glare and laughs.

“It’s not my fault my parents took me out to some gay ass place!” Brian whines at her pouting. Then they start making out

“God get a fucking room.” I laugh at them, what do I expect from two people who have been going out since 5th grade.

“Get away from me Brian, I don’t like you!!” Niki screamed at Brian who asked her out for the 5th time that day.

“Please” Brian begged, “I’ll love you forever!” Niki finally gave in,

“Fine but only for a week!”

Psh a week my ass. I smiled to myself thinking about it. Out the corner of my eye I see Matt coming. I get up and start running towards him screaming

“MATTTTT!” I jump up into his arms hugging him

“Nice to see you to LynnZ.” he laughs while hugging me. Next think I know I hear

“Stay away from MY man hoe!” Everyone starts laughing as I jump out of my best friends arms.

“Aww don’t be jealous cuz I’ll always be his first girl Taylor!” I laugh remembering that week in second grade.

There I was standing outside of school standing in my dress and pigtails when he came walking towards me flashing those dimples that always made me giggle.

“Hey LynnZ” “Hi Matty, what do you want” I never thought boys had cooties.

“LynnZ, will you be my girlfriend?” he smiled at me.

“Yes.” we walked off holding hands. Niki and Taylor stunned I had an older man as we liked to put it. Yes Matt Sanders of 3rd grade was MY boyfriend. The next day Johnny Seward asked me out, but I was with Matt so I had to say no, I still feel sad when I think about how sad he looked. Five days later I broke up with Matt because he broke my favorite purple crayon. Next day he asked out Taylor

Eight years later they’re still together. I laugh thanking god I don’t wear dresses or pig tails anymore. Taylor brought me out of my thoughts

“Oh yea? I think you might’ve hit me with a little UV light from that one. Wait let me get my SPF 5, cuz who’s got him now bitch?” Taylor flashed me a smile as everyone made a chorus of “oooh’s” and laughed. I playfully glare at her.

Everyone started talking about plans for the night when I felt arms wrap around my waist

“Hey babe.” I say with a smile as I feel Joe kiss my neck.

“Hey baby, come to my locker now with me, and help me with my homework.” he said loud as Taylor, Niki, Rhian, and Tam just groaned, but I didn’t notice.

“Ok. Byee ladies and dorks.” I flash them all a smile

“C’ya later” As I get up and walk away I heard 8 “Bye’s” wondering to myself where Johnny was.

Taylor’s Point of View

As LynnZ walked away with the asshole I said

“I fucking HATE him!” to no one in particular. I heard a chorus of “Yea’s”. Matt kissed me

“Don’t worry she’s a tough girl we all know she’ll be alright.” I knew she would, hell she had been for almost a year with him.

“He’s a fucking jackass and treats her like shit!” said Niki looking sincerely pissed off stabbing someone’s lunch with a fork. We all kind of just sat in silence until Johnny walked over and sat down.

“Hey short shit!” Jimmy laughed as Johnny threw him a ‘shut the fuck up’ look.

“Holy what’s wrong with you?” Rhian chimed in.

“Nothing, I was about to come over till I seen, that asshole over here so I had to wait” he said looking slightly pissed off. I laughed

“Aww that’s so cute, your so jealous.” Matt threw in a

“I know what’ll cheer you up!” Johnny looked a little happier

“What?!”

“Band practice tonight.”

Matt grinned showing his sexy dimples, the things he does to me. Johnny looked dissapointed as the bell rang and we all got up to leave for class.
