I stayed silent for a long moment, watching as the sun set over the water, casting shadows across her face as she stared up at the sky, wanting, wishing she could see the stars as they began to appear in the darkness looming above our heads. I looked at her and I knew what she was talking about, I felt it in the pit of my stomach. She turned to face me, my name falling off her lips in a question and into the air, coexisting with the waves crashing up on the shore.
"Yes," I told her, "yeah I've wanted something like that."
