the war

There was a time when she would wake up in the morning and smile.

There didn’t need to be a rhyme or a reason.

And then the days grew longer and the nights grew colder.

And his absence began to weigh heavy on her shoulders.

Time moved slow, almost infinitely.

She feared for his life. He feared for her sanity.

She watched as her ring glistened in the sun, smiling as memories filled her to the brim.

Letters surrounded her, littering the floor and the couch.

She was fighting an internal battle while he was fighting a war over seas.

There's not going to be a specific plot or theme to any of this stories. Some of them may match with others, some might not. I'm just going to write 100, 100-word stories and see what happens.
