He stared straight ahead, willing himself to keep a straight and unchanging face.
Even as his mother broke down and his father comforted her, he tried to seem calm.
If not for himself, than for his parents.
He took a deep breath and nodded at the doctors words.
There was nothing anyone could do and he accepted that.
Or so he tried to convince himself.
On the outside he seemed fine.
Fine; the most overused, untruthful word.
On the inside he was crumbling.
Because he was 16 and he only had one year to complete a lifetime’s worth of experiences.
