Take Control

Ourselves to blame.

Oliver watched the girl sleep beside him for the third time this week. He couldn't help but feel comfortable with her beside him, and yet a part of him knew it wouldn't last. He reached out and brushed her cheek with his hand. Regardless if it seemed like just a physical attraction, he knew it was way more than that. He just hated that now she thought that was all it was.

She stirred in her sleep and he watched her eyes flutter open causing a grin to hit his lips, "Hey sleepy head."

She moaned and covered her face with her hand. He laughed and wrapped his arms around her tightly as he kissed her forehead before she laid against his chest.

"So, Matty is havin' a party tonight, yeh should come." He spoke softly and she mumbled an ok against his bare chest which caused him to shiver. She couldn't help but wonder how he would act around her with tons of people around. He barely was able to speak to her when it was just the guys none the less people he barely knew. She couldn't help but have hope that he would be ok acting like he was now. Well, not so lovey dovey but acting like she actually existed. She liked moments like this with him because how he acted was not his usual self. It was as if it was just for her and it made her, as silly as it sounded, feel special.

"What time is it?" She managed to ask as he traced patterns into her back.

"Round 2."

She didn't respond, not caring that she had wasted the whole day simply because she was with him.

"What time is the party?"

"Round 9."

"Is everything around something? Why can't I have an exact time?" She teased causing him to laugh, "Sorry! Yes. 9! I'll pick you up at 9."

"Ok. Thanks for clearing that up."

He chuckled against her neck before pressing his lips down it, "I'm gonna go showa and then I'll take yeh home so yeh can do whateva." He said running his hand down her back. He would be fine if she said she wanted to stay in bed all day with him, but he knew that wouldn't happen.

She nodded and he pecked her lips before climbing from the bed and heading to the bathroom. Once the water came on she let out a sigh. She should have stayed away when she had the chance. While he showered she quickly pulled her clothes back on cursing under her breath that she let this happen again.

Once he emerged from the bathroom she had already looked through the whole magazine that sat on his dresser.

"Finally." She said looking up at the boy who now had a grin on his face, "Sorry! Takes time to look this good." He joked and she rolled her eyes as he slid on his shoes.

He grabbed her and and pulled her from the bed. His eyes locked with hers and he kissed her gently a few times before linking their fingers and without a word walking her out to his car.

There was no point in trying to make sense of what they were. She needed to just let it be, although she knew she'd be the one hurt in the end of it.

She kept quiet the whole drive to her house and he didn't know exactly what to say so he kept silent until they parked.

"Love, yeh ok?" He asked concern lighting his eyes as he looked over at her.

"Yeah." She responded with a grin and he didn't seem convinced. He brought his hand to her cheek and brushed his thumb over her skin, "Yeh sure yeh ok?"

She chuckled, "I'm fine, Oliver."

He nodded before leaning in and kissing her lips, "Ok. If yeh say so. I'll see yeh soon, love."

"Ok." She whispered and he removed his hands from her and watched as she ran into her building. A sigh left his lips once she was out of sight. He badly just wanted the girl to be his. He just didn't know how to go about that. He forced himself to start the car again. He needed to go by Drop Dead. He hadn't been focused lately. He needed to make sure everything was up to his standards.

Once Malorie got into the apartment she groaned in frustration. She didn't know what to do and although she typically was the type of person to just go with the flow, she felt too much for the boy. She texted Vanessa to make sure her and Tom would be at the party so she would have someone to talk to although making friends was never an issue for her. She lounged around her apartment for a few hours, over thinking the whole Oli situation until she had to get ready. She was just not going to overwhelm herself. She would just let it be.

Once she was ready and slipping on her flats the doorbell rang and she grew nervous knowing it was Oli. She grabbed her phone and quickly went to open the door.

"Ready?" He asked with a grin. He looked cuter than she thought possible with his cardigan on and his hair perfect like always.

She nodded and he held out his hand for her which she gladly accepted. She locked her door quickly and they walked hand in hand to the car.

"Um, yeh look propa prettah tonight." Oli said wanting to hit himself for sounding so lame.

She felt herself blush as she got in the car and once he joined her she spoke, "Thanks."

He simply nodded and started the car. He instantly linked his hand with hers like usual and headed to Matty's place.

"Is Sam coming?" She asked once they were out of the car. He shrugged unsure and a part of him hoping not. He kissed her hand as they reached the porch and dropped it to her side once he knocked. She gave him a weird look which he didn't seem to notice as the door opened and Matty appeared with a smile.

"Oye mate!" He said patting Oli on the shoulder.

"Hey yeh." He said giving Malorie a smile. She laughed and said hello as she followed Oli inside. She instantly found Tom and Vanessa and headed to where they were.

"Finally!" Vanessa said and she smiled, "Sorry. Saying hello to Matty."

"Is Olleh here?" Tom asked and the girl nodded, "Somewhere here, yes."

"Did yeh come togetha?"

She nodded and a grin hit Tom's lips, "Oh ok."

"Shut up."

He laughed, "didn't say nuffin love. I'm gonna see if I can find him. Yeh want a drink?"

She nodded once more and he kissed Vanessa's cheek before walking away.

"He's too cute." Malorie stated and Vanessa smiled, "Yeah, I know."

She decided to just go ahead and tell Vanessa everything that happened and as she did so Tom found Oli in the kitchen.

"Dude, why are yeh in here and not wif that fit bird?"

Oli rolled his eyes, "We aren't togetha. Didn't know I had to stand next to her."

"Well, why wouldn't yeh?"

Oli shrugged and took another drink of the beer he was holding.

"Here. Take her this." Tom said holding out a cup to Oli, who snatched it from him with a sigh.

"If yeh reallah don't like her then yeh don't, but don't string her along."

Oli pushed past his brother to leave the kitchen but Tom was right behind him.

"Oli." Tom said causing the boy to come to a stop.

"What now?!"

"Are yeh listenin' ta meh?"

Oli rolled his eyes as he looked into the living room where he could see Malorie being approached by some guy.

"Who tha fuck is that bloke?" Oli asked not meaning to vocalize it.

"I don't know." Tom snickered clearly getting his answer he had been wanting. Oli shoved the drink into the boys hand and stomped over to Malorie. He didn't know who the guy was, but he instantly went into protective mode which was new to him. She was his. It was that simple.

He slid his arm around her waist, "I was lookin' for yeh love." He said ignoring the guy standing too close to her for his liking.

The guy seemed to be giving him a questionable look and he instantly extended his hand out, "Oh I'm Olleh. Yeh are?"

"Rob." The guy stated shaking Oli's hand like Oli really cared. Oli nodded with a grin and Malorie was now giving him her own questionable look to him.

"Well, nice to meet both of yeh. I need to find my mates so I'll see yeh round." The guy finally said and Oli said goodbye as he walked away.

Once the boy was out of view Malorie shoved him away, "What was that?"

"What was what?" He asked innocently.

She crossed her arm and stared at the boy now in front of her, "You're jealous." She finally said.

"Jealous?! Of what?!"

"You didn't want that boy to flirt with me!"

Oli glared at her unable to find words simply because, well, in a way she was absolutely right.

"He looked like a twat!" He spat out and she rolled her eyes, "Whatever. Really Oli, if you like me then just say you like me. Don't pretend like you don't and then not let me talk to anyone." She said before walking away, leaving him a bit stunned.

"Uh...here." Tom said holding her drink out to her as she came near him. She thanked him grabbed it from his hand and headed outside. Tom watched Oli as he rubbed his hand down his face unsure what to do. Tom finally made his way to his brother as he fell onto the couch with a sigh.

"She's right yeh know. Why is it so bad ta admit yeh like her? She's awesome, and fit, and all yeh friends like her."

"I don't want to like her." He grumbled.

"Why?!"

"Because..."

"But yeh do."

"She doesn't like meh like that."

Tom stifled a laugh, "Yeh jokin' right? The bird likes yeh, trust meh. I'm datin' her bess friend. I fink I would know."

Oli looked up at him with curiousity, "What's she been sayin' bout meh?"

"Why do yeh care if yeh don't like her?"

Oli glared at him and Tom chuckled before sitting beside him, "Well, for starters, she doesn't like Sam."

"I know."

"And I know yeh two have slept togetha."

Oli groaned and Tom chuckled, "No worries. If I tell anyone Vanessa will murda meh. Dude, juss tell her yeh like her. It'll make fings betta for bof of yeh."

Oli shrugged as he stared at the beer in his hands. At this point, he was so unsure about everything he really didn't know what would be better.

Malorie sat outside on the stairs trying to clear her mind. She was more confused then ever and she hated it. She took a drink from her cup before someone sat beside her and she looked up to see Matty.

"Oh, Hi." She said with a grin.

"Hi. Yeh ok? Kind of saw yeh and Olleh's small fight."

She nodded, "No big deal."

"He likes yeh Malorie." He said with a weak grin, "I swear he does. He just, I don't know, too stubborn to allow himself to tell yeh."

"Well that's stupid."

"But true. Yeh saw how he acted with that guy talkin' ta yeh. He hated it." He said chuckling.

She shrugged and he threw his arm around her, "It'll be ok, love." He said before kissing her head and getting up from the stairs.

She sighed as he went in and decided she was just going to go home. She was not in the mood to party now. She got up from the step and took the last sip of her drink before tossing it in the trash as she entered.

She found Vanessa pretty quickly in the ground and walked up to her, "Hey, I'm going to go."

"What?! Why?!"

"I'm just ready to go. Oli put me in a crappy mood and I'd just prefer not to be around him."

She rolled her eyes, "Look, let me find Tom. He'll take you home."

Malorie simply nodded and watched her friend go on a search.

It didn't take Vanessa long to find her boyfriend talking to his brother.

"Hey, Tom. Will you take Malorie home?" She asked not trying to be secretive. She wanted Oli to know he was an asshole.

"Malorie?" Oli asked as if she had made that up.

"Yes. Malorie. She wants to go. Probably because you're a douche bag."

Oli rolled his eyes at the girl before getting up from the couch, "I'll take her."

"Not going to happen." Vanessa said laughing at how he really thought it would be that easy. Oli ignored her and headed straight over to Malorie.

"Why are yeh wantin' ta leave?" He asked bluntly.

"Why does it matter?" She shot right back and he rolled his eyes, "Fine. I'll take yeh."

"No thanks."

"So clearly it's because of me."

"Oliver, not everything has to do with you."

"See! That right there lets meh know yeh are in fact mad at meh." He said seriously and she rolled her eyes before brushing past him. He couldn't let this go that easily though. He quickly went after her grabbing her hand before she reached the door.

"Malorie." He said and she sighed and she turned around, "What?!"

"Stop! Look, I'm sorrah! If yeh like that bloke I'll go bloody find him." He said and she let out a laugh, "I don't even know him, Oli."

"Then what is it?!"

She just stared at him before shaking her head. How could he be so stupid?

"Doesn't matter really." She said softly before pulling her arm from his and exiting out the front door. He stood there unable to move. He was not sure what to do or say, but he knew that he was to blame. One thing he was certain of was that she wouldn't be wrapped in his arms tonight and that sent a whole new feeling to his chest; hurt.
