Stone Cold

Empty

"Lydia. Earth to Lydia."

Jace's voice brought me back to the dance floor. "Oh. Hi."

"Just fair warning, a mob of bitches happens to be staring at you."

"Let them stare."

"Hello? Are you the same Lydia?"

"Obviously dimwit."

"Okay, you're back."

I elbowed Jace. "Shut up."

"And ice queen returns."

"What the hell did I just say?!"

The rest of the dance was relatively boring. The bright lights and sweaty people weren't exactly doing it for me. Cautiously, Jace was with me the entirety of the dance, somewhat protecting me from 'A mob of bitches.' I could care less.

When the dance was finally over at midnight, Jace and I were sitting in his car.

"You seem upset." Jace finally said, breaking the silence as he shoved the key in the ignition.

"Oh please."

"Do you want to go to McDonald's?"

"...You may take me."

In truth, I was a little upset. Why did I even care about what those bitches thought? Why was I so shaken up about Vince and I dancing? I wasn't. Yup, I totally wasn't. Why would I be?

I laid down on my bed, face finally scrubbed of the stuff my mother had applied for the dance. I sneezed. God, was I coming down with a cold? It must have been from doing something out of my element, like dancing.

My phone went off. "Emptiness is filling me, To the point of agony."

I rolled over and picked it up, not looking at the caller id.

"Hello?" I groaned. I looked at the clock. Who the hell was calling me at three in the morning?!

"Lydia."

I froze. For once, I froze. "Who is this?"

"Who do you think?"

"Obviously I wouldn't have asked."

"Ooh I like 'em feisty."

"Oh my god, is this Vince?"

"The one and only."

"How did you get my number?" Only Jace had my number. Well, him and my family.

"I have connections."

"You asked my sister."

"Perhaps I played on the charm." He snickered.

"You're disgusting."

"You're beautiful."

"Are you drunk?"

"Maybe."

I sighed. "Where are you?"

"I have no idea. That's why I called you."

"Well, what's around you?"

"Look out the window."

I did. And almost screamed.

"What the hell are you doing at my house?!"

"They're are two answers to that question. The sexy one that will get me slapped, and the boring one. I'd rather tell you the sexy-"

"Why. Are. You. Here?" I hissed, opening my window.

"Can I come in?"

"You better before someone sees!"

Vince climbed in my window. We both hung up our phones, seeing how they were now not really relevant. "Thanks sweetheart."

I rolled my eyes.

"Ooh, no comeback? Am I melting the ice queen?"

"Of course not!"

"So you admit that you are in fact an ice queen."

"Why the hell are you here?"

"Oh, you know, I was in the neighborhood, felt like droppin' in."

"At three in the morning." I grumbled.

"Maybe I wanted to see you."

"What part of not interested do you not understand?"

"The not part."

I cursed under my breath. God, this boy's spirit was strong.

"Well, you better just-"

"LYDIA!" My sister's voice filled the air.

"Oh my god." Vince mumbled.

"Damnit! Hide!" I shoved Vince into the closet, slamming it. Just then, Lilliana walked into the room.

"Who are you talking to?"

"No one." I said, throwing on my icy disposition.

"Sure... whatever."

I should've known the second her eyes landed on the closet door. She made a bee line for it, throwing it open and revealing Vince.

"Oh-" I whispered.

"-My" Vince was swearing.

"GOD!" Lilliana screamed.

Great, just great.A
