Bring Me to Life.

025

Arturo grabbed his jacket and stormed out.

“Look, let’s just calm down.” I said. “No, you’re probably the reason my son hates me and my daughters turned against me.” Their mother glared.

“I wouldn’t do that but your track record isn’t exactly clean. You’ve abandoned them both. Maybe when he gets back we can talk about this calmly.” I suggested.

“I want you to stay away from my son. You’ll never be good enough for him.” She said.

“That’s not true.” I whispered tears feeling my eyes.

“I know my son and despite what he says we do have one thing in common, we don’t do relationships. I know he doesn’t love you.” She said.

“Enough, I want you out of my house now.” Maria said. “Not without my daughter.” She said.

“Fine mommy. Just stop being so hurtful to Ally and I’ll go with you.” Vanya said. “Go get your things.” She said.

“Don’t do this. Arturo loves his sister and she loves him. Can we at least see her o the weekends?” I asked.

“He can see her when I get my son back. When he comes to my house.” She said. “What about her father?” Maria asked.

“He doesn’t know where this new house is, were safe. And when he comes he comes with Maria or alone.” She stressed. Vanya came downstairs with her bags. She hugged her grandmother and then me.

“I love you.” She whispered. “I love you too.” I told her.

“Take care of my brother and my grandmother.” She said. “Let’s go Vanya.” She said and like that they left.

“Don’t listen to her, she doesn’t know her son at all. He loves you.” Maria kissed my forehead.

“I know.” I smiled and went upstairs where I couldn’t stop the tears.

A little later Arturo finally came home.

“Princess what’s wrong?” his voice scared me, I didn’t want him to see me crying. I ran up to hug him.

“I’m so sorry Arthur! Please Please forgive me” I begged him. “Why?” he asked.

“You’re mother is right I don’t deserve you.” I told him. “What did she say?” he asked angry.

“Is nothing and I think I’m moving out.” I announced. “No, Alli please don’t leave me right now you and Grandma is all I have left please baby don’t leave me.” He began to cry and this broke my heart. I thought I’d make his life easier but I realized he needed me.

“Don’t leave me, please.” I hugged him. “Please don’t cry I’m sorry I thought about leaving.” I told him.

“Just don’t leave me.” He said. He didn’t even go to work that day, I can’t believe I put him through this. I spent the day in his arms kissing him and apologizing. We even took a shower together, that really made him feel better. I vowed I would never make him cry again.

“Sweet pea, you look pale.” Ronda said the next day as I came in for my shift. “I haven’t been feeling too well lately.” I said.

“Did you catch something at school?” she asked. “Maybe.” I nodded my head.

“Maybe you shouldn’t work today.” She said. “I need to sit down.” I mumbled and she grabbed the chair she usual sits on behind the register.

“What are your symptoms?” she asked going to get me a bottle water. “Take the money out of my wallet.” I said.

“Forget the rules right now. Drink and tell me your symptoms.” She said. “Um, my back hurts, I’m getting constant headaches, my chest hurts…”

“Hurts how?” she asked. “My breasts are sore.” I said.

“Have you and Séance been sexually active?” she asked. “Y-yeah…I-I-I mean we’ve done it few times.” I blushed.

“Well with my having three kids, I think you might be pregnant, sweetheart.” She said. I looked at her in shock.

“But we used condoms; I’m on birth control…” I said. “Alli, you know as well as I do
abstinent is the only 100% effective method.” She said. My eyes began to water as I tried to figure out what I was going to do.

“Look before we go all crazy, you might not be pregnant. We have test in the store, go grab one and take it.” She said.

“I can’t pay…” “Don’t worry about it.” She sighed. I walked down the aisle, grabbed a pregnancy test and went to out employee bathroom. Just reading the instruction made me dizzy but I peed on the stick and waiting for the results. I walked out to see Ronda finishing up with a customer and as the customer left she turned to face me.

“So…” she asked. “I’m pregnant.” I whispered.

“I’m gonna be an auntie.” She smiled. “What am I gonna do?” I said.

“He loves you Alli. He’ll be so happy to find out that you guys are having a baby.” She said.

“And what if he’s not? What if he dumps me or his grandmother kicks me out? She has every right to making her grandson a teen father.” I said worried.

“Then you come stay with me until you go off to college. And I’ll help you get a car so I can babysit for you during classes.” She smiles.

“Really?” I asked. “Yep, I’ll even kick his ass for you but I doubt I’ll need to help you at all because he’ll loves you.” She smiled.

“Go home.” She said and I reluctantly did.

“Hi, Alli. I thought you were working?” Maria asked. “I wasn’t feeling too well so Ronda sent me home.” I said.

“You hungry?” she asked. Then I was hit with a wave of nausea as the smell of food hit me.

“I’m fine.” I tried to smiled.

“Your appetite has picked up lately and now you don’t want to eat, interesting.” She smiled.

“I guess whatever I have has really been changing my appetite.” I laughed and then hissed at the pain in my back.

“That happened to me a lot when I was pregnant too.” She smiled. I looked at her stunned and she laughed at my reaction to what she just says.

“I’m so sorry…I’ll pack now.” I turned upstairs. “Wait pack?” she asked.

“Aren’t you gonna kick me out?” I asked her. “Why would I do that?” she asked confused.

“Because I’m turning your teenage grandson into a father.” I said. “Well you certainly did not do it alone.” She smiled.

“Why do you think I’m also way out to get you? Looking for any flaw in you to keep you away from my grandson?” she gestured for us to sit down.

“Because you love him and I was putting him and Vanya and you in danger of my father when I came here.” I said.

“He loves you and I love you. We’re family now, we’re gonna get through this.” She smiled.

“What about college?” I asked her. “Well I do wish you to had been more careful but we can definitely work something out.” I smiled at her.

“But you have to tell Arturo. The sooner the better.” She said. “Ok.” I nodded.

“Go lay down.” She kissed my forehead. “I’ll get you some crackers and ginger ale.” She smiled. After I went upstairs, I decided to go to Arthur’s room instead of mine. I laid on his bed just for a moment and end up drifting off the sleep.

I ended up by gently woken up by someone stroking my cheek. My eyes fluttered opened and were met by a beautiful pair of blue ones.

“Hey.” I smiled. “How was your nap?” he kissed my forehead.

“Great.” I said. “My grandmother told me to bring home so crackers and ginger ale for you. She said you weren’t feeling well.” He looked at me worried.

“Yeah, I need to tell you something.” I got up to face him. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“I, uh. I…” I ran to the bathroom and threw up. I leaned against the wall cradling my stomach as Arthur got me a wet wash cloth and pressed it against my face. He looked at my hands then froze.

“Oh my god.” He whispered. “Arthur?” I asked.

“I won’t have it, I’ll get rid of it, just don’t dump me.” I said and he finally got out of his state of shock.

“No, no. You better not…wait, dump you? What made you think I’d dump you?” he asked. “I don’t know, I was just worried.” I whispered.

“Come here.” He cradles me to his chest. “We’re gonna have a baby?” he asked and I nodded.

“I couldn’t be happier.” He said. “Really? You aren’t mad that I’m making you a father so young?” I looked into his eyes.

“No, I love you. I knew we’d have a family sooner or later, we’re just getting started earlier.” He laughed.

“I love you.” He smiled. “I love you too.” I smiled.

“How about you brush your teeth, and I’ll go get you a cup of ice for you drink and we’ll lay in bed and watch movies?” he smiled.

“I’d like that.” He kissed my forehead and left.
