My Mistake, So Predictable
Backseat Serenade
Alex’s POV
I sprint from my car, leaving the door open without realizing it and race for the backstage door, showing the guy there my ID before tearing past him.
“I’m late, I’m so fucking late.” I groan, dodging the random people standing around exactly in my way.
I can see the stage, it’s only feet away from where I am and then some guy yells a two minute warning right into my ear. Asshole, should have given me a warning about screaming the warning.
“Hailey!” I yell, trying to get her to hear me over the loud buzz going on backstage.
She’s pacing across the stage in small circles, her eyes on the ground as she walks. I run to her, apologizing when I run into a few people and finally make it to her.
Hailey’s eyes snap up and she smiles gratefully before leaping into my arms, “I thought you weren’t going to be here.” She pauses but I know she’s going to speak again so I keep quiet, “No, I knew you were going to be here, I just got worried.”
“There’s no way I would miss seeing my girl get on stage.” I tell her and I feel her body freeze in my arms before she pulls back to look at me.
“I couldn’t have done any of this without you, Alex.”
“Yes, you could. I didn’t do anything, just guided you along. It was all you Hailey.”
Her head shakes but she smiles lightly before reaching forward to hug me again. “Thank you for being there for me Alex, even though I can be a pain in the ass sometimes.”
“How about all of the time?” I tease and she laughs, smacking my arm with the palm of my hand.
“I guess I have to go now.” She says, but something’s changed in her voice. She sounds more confident, more prepared to go out there and put on a good show.
“I believe in you.” I whisper to her, brushing the hair from her face so I can see into her eyes. I lean forward before I can question myself and peck her lips lightly before pulling back, “You can do this.”
Hailey grins, “Thank you.”
Before I leave, I tug on her beanie, “That’s the one I gave to you when we first met in the guitar store, the one Jack punted under the counter.” I say, not thinking she’ll even remember.
“I remember.” Her smiles wide but I stand there stunned until she shoos me off stage.

The music starts up with a loud beat from Max on the drums and then Tabitha is talking, welcoming everyone for being there to support them and the crowd cheers loudly. I wanted to be backstage just in case Hailey needed me but she had told me to go into the crowd and enjoy the show. So that’s where I am now. Luckily, there was a seat open at the bar so I had snagged it instead of dealing with the crowd. Plus, it makes it easier to hang out with Flyzik, who I had invited to come with. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good mosh pit, but I want to be where I can see Hailey without worrying about getting kicking in the head the whole time.
The music picks up louder and all I can see is Hailey’s face freeze.

Beware for a long author's note! :D I mentioned everyone who is listed on the first page of comments because I can't remember who has or hasn't been replied to before and wanted to be sure everyone got a thank you. Also, I've written out all of the chapters. It's done, finished, complete, sayonara. What do you guys think about an epilogue, a three shot, or something along these lines somewhere in the future from where the story ends? Something to think about. (:weeezer100 - Thank you so much!
