Let Me Love You

Chapter One

“Louis, calm down. She will be fine.” Harry says while leaning against a white hospital wall with his arms crossed.

His gaze fixed on Louis as he paces the corridors back and forth.

“She wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for me.” Louis replies shakily, still pacing back and forth.

Harry couldn't help but roll his eyes. Why was Louis making such a big deal?

“I say she’s lucky. If it was anyone else who hit her, she would probably be dead already.” He states bemusedly, his eyes still following Louis as he paces.

Liam lets out a boyish gasp. "Harry!" He exclaims as if Harry had just said a rude word, rolling up his magazine and hitting Harry on his shoulder. “That wasn’t funny.” He states with all seriousness.

Harry holds up his hands in surrendering gesture and shrugs.

“I was only trying to help.” Harry states innocently.

He really was. All he wanted was to make his best friend, Louis, feel better; if that meant sounding like an asshole, then so be it. He didn't really care about the girl either way. Honestly, what was a girl doing in the outback by herself during a very dangerous storm, anyway? It was as if she wanted to be injured on purpose!

“Well you’re not." Liam states sounding like a father telling off his son. "That poor girl is lying unconscious in that room and it’s all our fault. Have some sympathy and go check on Niall and Zayn with the coffees. What the heck is taking them so long?” Liam says while shifting uncomfortably on his seat.

Harry frowns. What did he look like, the coffee check up boy or something?

“Now what does coffee have to do with this?” Harry asks through gritted teeth. He really didn't like being ordered around.

Liam crosses his arms and raises his eyebrows turning to Louis's direction.

Turning to see where Liam was gesturing, Harry sees Louis murmuring something to himself as he nervously continues to pace back and forth while fidgeting with his hands.

Harry lets out a sigh. This was gonna be one piece of work.

“Coffee and tea, coming right up.” Harry says in defeat as he straightens up from the wall he was leaning on and walks over to the elevator section.

As Harry gets out of the elevator and walks into the cafteria where he finds the café empty, he walks out into the lobby of the hospital to see if Zayn and Niall are there.

Finding the lobby empty of his band mates as well, Harry frowns in confusion as he walks toward the hospital automatic glass sliding doors.

He is startled as he finds a huge crowd of people, mainly girls, on the footpath right in front of the hospital stairs which leads to the glass door entrance. And below the stairs he spots Niall and Zayn signing autographs and taking pictures with fans.

He shakes his head in disbelief.

I just knew they would be doing this. He thinks to himself.

Just then, a girl spots Harry through the glass doors from the footpath she was standing on and starts screaming hysterically as she tries to dodge pass one of the security guards to get to the stairs, but of course fails due to being blocked by the guard.

Harry frowns as he decides to call Niall and Zayn inside so that they can all help comfort Louis go through his major trauma attack. Instead of texting them, he decides to do it the old fashion way while pleasing some of his fans in the process.

He inhales a deep, heavy breath as he makes his way towards the sliding glass doors, his Nikes clicking against the freshly polished tiles which radiated the boring hospital ‘white’ theme. As he passes the front desk he hears the receptionist let out a little gasp, but then she ignores him and continues to do her work. She was a different one from last night’s so she must have been surprised to see One Direction here.

This would have made Harry smile if he wasn’t in such a grumpy mood. How could he smile when his friend was being troubled?

As he walks through the automatic glass doors he hears his fans screams get even louder in excitement, and when he says 'even louder', he means very loud.

“Harry! Niall! Zayn! I love you! Sign my t-shirt! Marry me! Follow me on Twitter!” All suppressed and devoured in loud squeals and camera flashes. Harry forms a fake smile and waves a hand in acknowledgement as he makes his way toward Niall and Zayn who were signing autographs as the body guards made a barrier between the boys and the crazy fans.

“So much for tea and coffee.” Harry says while frowning, upon reaching his friends.

“Yeah.” Zayn yells out over the screams, “We just wanted to please some fans on the way.”

Harry turns to see Niall posing with a red headed fan as he clicks a picture of the two of them and hands the camera back to her.

“Thank you. We love you too!” He says chuckling to himself as he turns toward Zayn and Harry with a huge cheeky grin which was spread from ear to ear.

The look faltering almost instantly when Nialls eyes rest upon the dangerous look Harry was giving him. Harry's arms are crossed stiffly and his eyes look a shade of dark green which seems like it would shoot laser rays at any moment.

Well someone was a grumpy pants today. Niall thought to himself as he smiles apologetically at his friend.

“Well, I hate to be a party pooper," Harry interjects venomously, "but while you guys were out here flirting with some girls, Liam and I were inside trying to calm Louis down, who by-the-way, is about to have a heart attack, in case you guys cared.” Harry spits angrily, his glare instantly transforming to a fake smile as he turns reluctantly at an annoying girl who wouldn’t stop calling his name, who in return, looks like she was about to faint from getting Harry's attention.

“We weren’t flirting, we were signing autographs and taking pictures.” Zayn replies defensively. “They came all the way and camped out for us over-night, the least we could do was sign some autographs." He continues to explain calmly to his very ill-tempered friend.

"Niall wanted a distraction, and well, we got distracted.” He continues as he signs some orange haired girl’s book with a smile.

Harry lets out a gush of air through his nose in irritation while ruffling through his curly hair and swiping it to his right.

He takes in a deep breath to calm his raging mood.

“Sorry." His glare transforming into an apologetic look. "I didn’t get much sleep last night." He explains to Zayn. "My back's still hurting from laying down on those benches.” Harry stretches his shoulders trying to dull the rising ache on his shoulder blades.

Nialls cheeky grin reappears faster than it disappeared;

“Don’t worry mate, I guess we should go inside.” He says kindly at his worried friend, his Irish accent resurfacing as usual.

Zayn poses for one last picture with a beautiful brunette girl and then hands the her camera back as he waves goodbye, making his way behind Harry and Niall into the hospital while all the fans screamed in protest and begged for them to stay.

As they walk through the glass doors and enter into the much more silent and warmer building, they make their way toward the café to order a round of two coffees and three cups of tea, the usual.

As Zayn catches up to Harry and Niall, he puts a hand on both of their shoulders, stepping into the middle of his band mates.

“You guys are exhausted, go back to Liam and Louis and I will get the drinks.” They stop walking and turn to face him.

“You sure?” Niall asks, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, it's not like we need three guys to carry a tray of hot drinks." Zayn remarks with a crooked smile on his face.

Harry scratches the back of his neck.

"You better not 'get distracted' again, Malik." He states with dead seriousness, emphasising on the 'get distracted'. He was really grumpy.

Zayn forms a face of fake shock.

"What? Me? Distracted? Dude, do you even know who you're talking to?" Zayn says faking utter outrage.

"Yeah we do," Niall says with a cheeky smirk on his face, "we're talking to Bradford's badboy yoo." he finishes mimicking with a fake Bradford accent, just the way Zayn had always said it.

Niall and Harry both laugh at Zayn's embarrassed reaction as the Bradford Badboy face palms himself.

"You guys are never going to let that go, are you?" He grumbles beneath his breath but loud enough for his friends to hear, his cheeks slightly heating up from the humiliation.

"Never." Both Niall and Harry say at the same time as they look at each other and continue laughing, high fiving each other.

Zayn rolls his eyes in annoyance.

"Okay, okay! I get it!" He yells in grimace as he turns his direction toward the cafe alone.

"See ya upstairs, badboy!" Zayn hears Niall yell in a fake girly tone as Harry and Niall start laughing really loudly behind him.

Man, they're really annoying today, aren't they?

“Can I get two cappuccinos and three cups of black tea, please.” Zayn tells the girl at the register who couldn't stop herself from blushing immensely.

“Sure, Zayn. Anything else?” She asks nervously, her hands slightly shaking.

“No, thanks.” Zayn replies, his smile widening on the fact that the girl knew his name without him introducing himself. Well, he was used to it but it never ceases to amuse him.

He reaches into his jeans back pocket to get his wallet out when the girl at the register shakes her head in protest.

“No need to pay, it’s on the house.” She says in a slightly squeaky voice.

He was taken aback.

“Won’t you get into trouble?” he asks her, frowning.

The girl shrugs.

“Probably. But it’s not like celebrities come to this café often.” Zayn couldn't help but smile at that.

“No, I insist.” He says as he takes out his wallet and finds a hundred dollar note inside. "Keep the change."

The girl frowns, “Well anyway, my little sister’s a big fan of One Direction. Would you mind signing an autograph for her?” She asks as she takes the bill from Zayn’s hand and puts it into the cash register.

Zayn feels excitement building in his stomach.

“Sure.” He says, "I would love to."

The girl forms a dazzling, pearly white smile causing Zayn's smile to widen in return. Zayn hasn't removed the smile on his face since the moment he first spoke to her.

“So…what’s the name?” Zayn asks.

The girl just stands there gawking at him. She couldn't help notice the perfection of his eyes, his lips, his jawline, his cheeks, and his hair. She couldn't get her eyes off of him. He was more handsome in person than in pictures, she realizes.

“Ahem.” Zayn clears his throat awkwardly, making the girl wake up from her little drift off of planet earth.

She quickly looks away towards the cash registers computer screen, feeling her face heat up like the middle of summer, even though it’s winter.

“My names Alina, my friends call my Ally.” She says almost shakily, telling herself to keep calm within her thoughts.

“That’s a nice name..." Zayn admits awkwardly, "though I was asking for your sister’s name…” he trails off as Alina's eyes twinkle with confusion.

Zayn waves the pen he got from his jackets pocket while wiggling his eyebrows at her making her realize what he meant.

“Oh! Umm haha, her names Cassandra, you can write Cassey.” Zayn half smiles at her making her knees slightly tremble, “Paper?” he asks making her even more nervous if possible.

“Oh! Right. Haha, silly me.” Ally says as she grabs a plain paper out from the back of the nearest printer and holds it out to him.

“It’s alright.” He replies slightly chuckling as he takes the paper from her and sets it down on the cash register table and scribbles something onto it.

Being this close to him she can see black circles under his eyes and that he looks exhausted. He probably spent the night here at the hospital, she guesses.

“Here you go.” He says with a dazzling smile as he hands her the paper and puts his pen back into his pocket.

“Why are you guys here anyway?” She couldn't help herself but ask.

Zayn lets out a tired sigh, bringing a hand through his hair in exhaustion as he faces her with an emotionless face.

“You will see it on the news soon enough.” He states tiredly.

And with that; he grabs the coffee and tea cardboard tray, holding his own coffee with his other hand, and makes his way out of the café and toward the elevator section.

This was gonna be one hell of a long week, and Paul, their manager/body guard hadn't even arrived back from his honeymoon yet!

He slightly shudders at the thought of the amount of trouble him and the boys were gonna get into when Paul returns.

'When Paul Returns', Zayn chuckles humourlessly.

Sounds like a horror movie.
